Nightwing Help

So after completing Red Hood this year at ECCC I've already started thinking ahead to next year. After originally wanting to do ARROW I've abandoned that idea due to cost in hopes of doing a Nightwing cosplay after being told by Soni Aralynn that I could possibly pull it off with my tall lean build. Who am I to argue? :$

So After looking through all pics of Nightwing and design styles I've determined there are three major players in the costume style:

Nightwing_0085.jpg Blue Wings style Pre-52 Nightwing-young-justice-30785699-900-747.jpg Young Justice Version nightwing-injustice.jpgInjustice Version

So personally I prefer either YJ or Pre-52 Comics, but some questions concerning these styles and the builds.

Obviously in YJ he wears his sticks on his thigh, in the comics how does he keep his escrimas on his back in travels I've been told magnets for cosplay but curious what others have done.

also for the guys how do you keep form putting the yourself on display in a suit that is designed not to leave much to the imagination, I'm comfortable with myself but lets be honest not everyone wants to see that when taking picture with you.

That's it for now can't wait to hear responses. Also I'll update my Red Hood post with pics from ECCC for final viewing.

For storing the escrima sticks: I've seen magnets used (provided you use an appropriate material for the sticks), elastic sleeves, pouches stitched down/across the back, or one very clever design where they attached them to their forearms running along the ulna bone. In that last one, the sticks stuck out a few inches past the elbows when stored, but that was no problem for pictures since they were usually obscured by the upper arm.

For avoiding "displaying yourself": It depends on what material you go with. If you use a thinner material like a morphsuit, then you will have this problem. But thicker materials like wetsuits don't usually present an issue unless you are quite well-endowed. One option is something called a dance belt, which is what dancers use for this exact purpose. It is essentially a man-thong that (and I'm trying to put this delicately) basically keeps things in an upward-pointing position, making for less of a bulge. If that is a little too hard core for you (no shame, the things are not very comfortable), you can stitch extra material/foam into the crotch of the pants so that the bulge blends more into the over all shape of the pelvis. Tight briefs/boxer briefs are another option, which will basically accomplish the opposite of the dance belt (pinning things down and under).

Well, that's likely to be the most awkward thing I'll type all day! Hope it helps.

I'd vote for the young justice version. Vox mentioned a wetsuit and that sounds like a great option. You could also go with something like the captain America stealth suit maybe a bit more fitted. Have you seen the nightwing series the guy did a kick starter for it that's a good costume build too.

I truly appreciate the advice about the suit.
I have been looking at one of the sub-dye body suits that Snakepit Studios does (So I would have to find what material they use for them) or something equivalent to it for the overall design and then adding the additional armor if needed (Shoulder pads or Injustice Armor if decided).

I found this on ebay too which is designed to be attached to a preexisting body suit but have never really seen anyone wearing them other then their mannequins.

I have seen the kickstarter but I would need to watch against and find some BTS clips to look at the suit in more detail.

as for you delicacy in the question, it was an awkward question to answer and you did so fine with answers I was expecting to hear (though I knew nothing about the dance belts but after reading it that makes sense in a capacity I didn't' think to explore because yes they would essentially have a similar issue on performance nights).

Your second example is a Batman "panther suit" (Batman Forever) chest with a logo glued on it. Many people wear these to conventions as Batman. It may be a little hot, because it's rubber, but it's sturdy and looks good. Because the bat is part of the cowl (for the forever costume) you can buy a Batman chest and glue whatever Nightwing logo you want. That might even save you some money.
