Nice to see fan sabers again...

Boy, it feels like the old days around here now that we're in a SW prop licensing lull...lots of people making parts and sabers available. The forum hasn't been this much fun in ages...can't wait to start on an OB1 ANH at last. Now I just have to unload my ROTS!

Let the good times roll! :cool

i agree with you!

it will be interesting to see what happens once efx starts making sabers. i wonder if they will be as hardcore about the custom saber makers.

I am always amazed at how many versions of the Obi saber that folks seem to want. Talk about parts that no one can seem to get enough of. Seems like the most common saber built, yet still folks are buying parts.:rolleyes

I just wish there were more interest in the less made (more expensive) sabers like the ep 1 Obi or the Mara Jade saber- if more folks were making parts for those maybe I could afford one someday:love.

Hey yeah... Master Replicas :lol

I liked their stuff, but all the fun was taken out of it... NOT to mention all those HOARDERS. Picking up all the small run sabers and then reselling them HERE for 10X the price :angry

Exactly. In fact, i just this week bought my very first MR saber, a .45 mini Anakin ROTS. I never liked the idea of mass produced Sabers. A Jedi is supposed to build their own!

Yeah, well with a long history of inaccurate parts being offered, in some cases KNOWINGLY so, it's not really surprising that some people are still trying to get their saber to look the way they want.

:thumbsup

indeed. the only MR saber i ever bought was the maul FX, and that was just because the idea of a 7' long light up saber for $200 was too good to pass up.

otherwise, my luke and vader ESBs are scrounged together from assorted parts and made with love :)

i do want to build an owk at some point, i'm just intimidated by the options!

I suppose that is true, I fall into the can't really tell the difference, so they all tend to look alike. I am happy with the one I own and have a strong desire for different sabers but none for another of this one. But I am both glad that people have the parts they want available, and that people are still interested in it.

True but then again I don't think folks are living lives following the Jedi code in any other way - among other things this would be one of their only possessions, and in a board full of collectors I think it is a crowd that would have trouble with that concept.:lol

I was just trying to explain this to a friend of mine when he asked me what I was doing dumping $45 on a steel replica of an airplane engine part.

He just didn't understand that less than 5 years ago, this stuff didn't even exist. I'm a young guy, but when I came into the hobby the only thing identified on the OWK saber was the Graflex clamp. Truly, the longer you wait, the more the community grows. I'm just thankful we have enough dedicated folk to track this stuff down, and of course to make duplicates. I dare say a dream come true, and certainly worth the wait.

The mass produced replicas only make our hand-made/finished replicas even more valuable. Not only are they more accurate, but a well finished saber by expert hands instantly becomes a work of art.

Also, the studio scale kits as well! Perhaps an even greater feat than any saber. But I do not want to argue.

Just like the Good ole days? I don't think so. These are those days! :thumbsup

Hey Paul, I rememebr when people were fighting here WITh flame wars as ho made the most accurate sink tube Graflex's an MPP's!
Its good to see these homemade parts being sold here. It really makes me feel good to know there are folks still wanting to BUILD instead of BUY.

Hi incrediPAUL,

It's a lot of fun for me to run projects by my friends. I thoroughly enjoy watching jaws drop. I show threads to them, and it really is an awakening for them. To see items made so beautifully, so exacting, so realistic.

I think in the end they'll agree $45 is a sweet deal for a piece of art, but just in case.. you might want to snag some beer and earplugs when it comes time to chat about the Exactra 19/20. :lol

I can't wait to see yours & mine completed. :cheers

Take care,
-DM

We're going to talk about exactras with beers?:)

I'll drink to that my friend.:cheers

EDIT: I think we'll need a big thanks to the big three involved for all the OWK parts and anyone else I'm not aware of working on the project. Perhaps, in time we can start a thank you thread with our completed sabers. It'll keep the mods happy with just one thread, but we already have a few OWK going as it is.

But serisously, thanks guys! My saber dreams are coming true, and I hope in time can make some contributions to the field.

incrediPAUL, well said. :thumbsup

Indeed. At the opening for (i think it was) AOTC here in Seattle, i wore my then accurate Luke graflex on my belt. It got dismissed as "oh look, another MR... yawn". Kinda pissed me off, as the flood of sabers in every bookstore and hobby shop had made the originals less unique and special.
