The concept art on the bottom link looks awesome, doubt the show is produced that way tho.

(June 3, 2010 – Burbank, CA) – Warner Bros. Animation (WBA) has begun production on “ThunderCats,” an all-new animated series for Cartoon Network, based upon the iconic 1980s action classic. “ThunderCats” is the newest series from WBA, joining “Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” which was recently renewed for a third season, and the following forthcoming programs: “The Looney Tunes Show,” “MAD,” “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated” and “Young Justice.” The announcement was made today by Sam Register, Executive Vice President, Creative Affairs, Warner Bros. Animation.
“In addition to being Warner Bros. Animation’s first anime series, ‘ThunderCats’ marks our most ambitious foray yet into fantasy,” said Register. “The realism and dynamic visual style we’ve achieved are sure to thrill viewers, and the cool weapons, vehicles and technology should help the show appeal to a diverse audience.”

Couldn't be any worse than the first show. Aside from an excellently-animated opening sequence, the love for Thundercats is entirely nostalgia-based. It really doesn't have much going for it at any level.

Not going to pass judgment until I see actual designs in action. The concept art looks cool, but who knows what the final product will look like. I don't like the fact it's being touted as an "anime" series either.... :confused

Used to watch this as a kid. I loved it. The opening credits to this show are probably still the coolest opening credits to this day. Doubt I'll watch this though. We'll see.

That one image doesn't really give us much to go on...or are there more?

And what makes Anime, Anime? I always thought Anime was the stuff from Japan.

I never watched Thundercats. It came at a time in my life when my dad was actively discouraging kid's stuff; not letting me watch cartoons. Thanks to Netflix, I've managed to re-visit a number of cherished classics. So a couple decades later, I gave the series a try on dvd. I've seen some real turkeys, like the worst exposition I've ever witnessed in the old Super Friends cartoon. So admittedly, it wasn't as bad as Super Friends. But I felt like I'd missed out all these years. I guess I might have enjoyed it as a kid, but now I wouldn't rate it as high as the original He-Man cartoons. I think the only action/adventure cartoon that really holds up, of the series I watched from the early Eighties, is Dungeons and Dragons.

Perhaps it's ripe for a remake. It could be worse, but it stands to be a whole lot better too.

agree. cool opening sequence. fairly generic he-man esque merchandising scripts. but I realised how horribly stitled and wooden the voice acting was.

he-man had much better voice talent.

that is something about the 80's a HUGE amount of cartoon output.

I made a sort of list earlier and its just massive of all the cartoons we saw as kids in the 80's

cos it was all the GOOD 60's 70's stuff plus tom and jerry and sylvester etc and then all the 80's too.

I was talking about cartoons with my niece and nephew and the only stuff we consider good/classic that they've seen is flintstones and tom and jerry.

I feel like they've missed out

For the sake of my childhood I'll at least check it out... who knows... it could kick ass!

I'd like to see that list.

Off the top of my head my cartoon regimen consisted of:

Looney Tunes
Flintstones
Jetsons
Tom & Jerry
Hanna-Barberra
Starblazers
Tranzor-Z
Voltron
Robotech
GI Joe
He-Man
Thundercats
Transformers
Silverhawks
Saber Rider & the Star Sheriffs
Real Ghostbusters
Animaniacs
not to mention all the Saturday Morning cartoons

I truly loved the Animaniacs. I have them all on DVD. I watched them all when they first aired.

I remember when Adult Swim used to play them. I worked from 11:00pm to 7:00am at the time, and I used to get an hour for lunch. Living 5 minutes from work, I'd go home and fix something and sit down to watch Animaniacs before heading back. It got to be where as many as 12 people were coming to my place each night to sit around and watch Animaniacs before heading back to work.
