New Star Trek Phaser and Comm Belt ? See it ?

Has anyone seen this new toy in the stores yet ? Toys R Us says it is available...will the belt fit an adult ?

Yep, they had a bunch at the local TRU, plus a whole new batch of all the other stuff.

I doubt it will fit an adult. It's definitely a kids set.

My local store had sold out of all the first release figures, phaser, comms, what not. But they restocked. I didn't figure the toys were selling that great.

Well you might be able to cut the little holsters off and use them on a real belt...

It would be easier to just lose enough weight for it to fit. Have you ever considered vomiting to lose weight? I highly recommend it. In no time at all you'll be the same size as the super models.

Yup, it looks very salvageable. Lots of stuff you can take off and modify your own belt.

Which Toys R Us were selling it ? I look for them @ a Toys R Us in Virginia but no luck.. I will be in the San Diego area soon.

I saw these at a TRU in the Atlanta area. The phaser and communicator are "dummy" toys; they do not independently have sounds or lighting FX, unlike the earlier toy versions. The belt does all the talking, sound FX, etc.

How accurate is the playmates phaser (the one that is individually sold in stores)?

The playmates phaser is about 15 to 20% smaller than the actual prop and a bit shinier. (The actual prop has a dull aluminum look to it while you can see your reflection in the toy).

Also, the first toys had a transluscent red and blue plastic tip at the end of the phaser. In the movie, the tips were aluminum, with one side, the kill side, being painted with a red metallic.

If I am not mistaken, it appears in the Youtube video that the tips will be painted a metalic color instead of the clear plastic (prob. because this one does not need to light up).

The buckle requires a battery and the comm and phaser are dummies. The buckle talks and interacts, I believe, when the comm or phaser are waved in front of it. This is kinda goofy waving your gear around your crotch.

They look cool and the holders are removable from the belt. It would be best to find another belt and buckle. The toy belt is in two parts that snap together into the buckle.

Kids love it.

I might pick one of these up. I like this phaser better than the original one released and the holster looks cool too.
