New Sherlock Holmes Pipe?

Anyone have any idea what kind of pipe they are using in the new Sherlock Holmes movie? I don't have any screen shots of it yet but I can try and get some captures from the trailer when I get home.

I've been looking for this too. I found this site that has a pic of the pipe but I can't find an exact match.

I've looked through, what feels like, thousands of pipe sites!

Here are the two closest that I could find, but they are not exact. The first one's stem is not quite right.

And the shank on this second one is a bit to long. Hopefully someone can chime in here with a match.

As a pipe smoker myself, I can tell you that "black sandblast saddle bit billiard" (the caption of the NYT photo) is all the info you really need... a briar pipe, "billard" is the shape of the bowl, "sandblast" is the finish.

I'd say just go to a pipe store with that photo and ask if they can match it, or else peruse the online pipe shops looking for "billiard" bowls in black sandblast.

Handsome pipe, let me know if you find one that's close, I might want one myself. :lol

Thanks for the info! I'm going to try to go to a couple cigar and pipe shops near me later today so hopefully I find something close to it there.

The other thing to remember is that stems are often removable to allow cleaning, so this might be the bowl of one pipe and the stem of another.

Yeah, I looked into that. I tried to look for replacement stems but the only things I could find were for pipe repairs. I couldn't find just replacement stems to buy. From reading a little about it, it seems like most of them might be custom fitted for that pipe so they might not be interchangeable unless. But I've never smoked or even held a pipe before so if someone with more information could chime in, then that would be great.

Alright, I believe I finally found the pipe! I emailed a large pipe store owner in the Chicago area and he said that he believes the pipe is a Savinelli Kings Cross featherweight pipe. He said they were discontinued but I found a site that has them in stock for a very reasonable price.

I just ordered it so I'll let you all know when I receive it. Thanks for everyones help!

Alright, not sure if anyone is really following this thread now but it looks like I am taking a step backwards. I'm pretty sure the website I listed above with the correct pipe is out of business. I did receive an autogenerated order invoice but I can't seem to get a hold of anyone by email and the phone number they listed goes directly to a mailbox is full message. I couldn't find anything on Better Buisness Bureau either. I have found a site in Denmark that has it but the shipping costs more then the pipe so I'm probably going to save that for the very last resort.

I´m not really sure that it´s the exact pipe. If you look closely the Holme´s pipe has a couple of vents on the stem that the Savinelly doesn´t.
If you look closely the movie pipe has some writing on the side I can´t read, but it seems that at least has a double s and a J. I´ll keep on tracking!

Is close- but the end is different. As has been said, the end piece may be different than a unit piece, if this makes sense.
I did some pipe work in the past- its on my title page of my website!!

Ok, well I found a few pics, one is a screenshot and another a poster. The screenshot changes a few things since now it looks like the stem is curved.

The image from the poster looks like the pipe pictured above in this thread.

No doubt they used multiple pipes in the movie. I just purchased this pipe...

off the web. This is the same brand, Savinelli featherweight, just a different model. It looks like it has the same slits from the Warner Bros. pic. I've sent out a few emails to some of the larger pipe shops on the web asking if they still have any of the discountinued featherweights, but no word back yet. In relation to Robert Downey Jrs. hand, I have no doubt that the pipe is some sort of featherweight pipe, just not sure if it's the Savinelli at this point.

And of course, there is a high percentage chance that this is a custom made pipe, like a few people have posted here.

Did this ever fall through?

Hello all, apologies to bringing back an old post.

I have a pipe that looks similar to that in the Sherlock films which is for sale. if anyone on here is interested in it please contact me or I will stick it up on eBay.

Name a price, pictures available on request.

Sherlock (It is actually my nickname and I am not a crazed fan... maybe a little...)
