NEW SERIES "DR WHO" MASKS from MILLENIUM FX

Cyb,

Sounds like great news. A "from original moulds" Cyberman helmet sounds like a winner

btw that link didnt work for me as I'm not a member of the DW forum

Cheers

Jez

Its basically a post on the biggest Dr Who site from the man himself Neill Gorton (he is the same as what Stuart freeborn is to Star Wars - but to Dr Who)...

Heres a cut n pasted message he left:

"Who would like a replica of the NSC helmets, produced from the original moulds using the original materials from the original suppliers and coming from the workshops of MILLENNIUM FX, etc. etc.

Basically THE most authentic replica of a new series character available.

In addition we're hoping to make replicas of the Clockwork robot masks and the Ood heads. These will all be display replicas.

What do we all think?

Best
Neill G"

Oooh, I'd be extremely interested in a Cyberman head.

Thanks for posting the news Cyberman.

Seems like the Clockwork droids will just be masks to quote from Neil Gorton "Clockwork droid masks will be just the mask but we're hoping to offer replica wigs to complete the look".

Are we certain its actually Neil and not someone impersonating him? TPE is the currently the main license holder and the BBC has to offer any full sized replica license to This Planet Earth Ltd first (they have first refusal) and so far, this hasn't happened.

I think it's pretty positive as he's posting on several Dr Who boards testing the waters so to speak and the Mod's on these forums are people who know their "Who" and the people involved with it inside out, so I'm sure they'd soon put a stop to it if there were any doubt he were an impostor.

What he has said re: licensing on the Who forums is, quote:-

"Yes we have a liscence from BBC worldwide agreed in principle. A deal memo has been signed and we just have to dot the i's and cross the t's on the actual contract and we off and running.

Happy to answer any questions as I am trying to get some feedback from my potential customers in the hope that we can satisfy expectations."

Sounds good to me.

I don't think the BBC would hem themselves in with such a specific agreement.
I would imagine it would be up to the BBC who recieves licenses or not.
Still I'm really happy MILLENNIUM FX have the license to produce the new Cyber helmets as all of the other classic Who Cyber helmets TPE sold have been quite shoddy.

They might have given him a nicer welcome.

I agree, it was a bit "off " wasn't it. Still I guess it's not everyday you get someone like Neill Gorton on the Forums so you have to expect to get a bit of disbelief. I think it was the people telling him no one would actually be interested in the NSC heads that got me......

Well you were correct on the licensed items, I found out from other sources last night that what you say is in fact true..So that Freakin ROCKS. I am looking forward to seeing how much the cyberhelmets are going to run. We shall see.

Well I guess it would be, but it just occurred to me how could he contribute here if he can't register at the moment? :(

Also it looks like he £250 price estimate for the NSC head might be a bit of a "plucked from thin air " thing too, according to Neill Gorton anyhow (and I guess if he doesn't know no one does) to quote:-
<div class='quotetop'></div>
"I think your mate put a bit of a spin on it as he wasn't actually offered one of these helmets by anyone on my team, your mate was simply told that we were looking to produce them as items for sale. Subsequently the price he quoted you is pure conjecture based on nothing. Fact is I don't know the cost yet so how could someone else. I suppose if I were to knock out a quick copy from the moulds for a mate (which we don't do before anyone is thinking of asking.) and knock it togther quickly in my shed I could do something for the price you quoted but that doesn't take in to account all the other factors when running a commercial operation".
[/b]
Seems pretty clear to me, I imagine if you really want to know what these things are going to cost you'll have to wait for the site to go live in October.:p
