New RPF Sites Issues - CLOSED (please search for or start a thread for new issues)

I use a cell most of the time on here. Will there be a preset to where I can stay in full site mode or will I be forced into mobile mode everytime I log on? I know I can change to full mode after Im here, but Im required to power down my phone several times a day at work and I jump back into mobile mode again.

Working fine this end. Try clicking 'the other' tab next to it. You may be getting confused re which is the 'active' tab.

Now I have a thumbnail attachment in the post but I cant seem to insert it so that it appers in full size
Edit: just figured it out! This like driving a new car ( a VERY nice new car ), looking for the power outlets, hood release etc. :lol

The replies seem to be posting slow, quick reply didn't work for me earlier, it's hard to go to the last page of threads without having to click on it then do it inside the thread it's self. Not sure if those were posted but all I have so far.

I was on the PC before and it showed fine. Now I'm on the iPad and its back to missing a letter.

The forum looks nice, good job so far. I would also like to see a couple more options than gray text over gray background and the links to be more visible please. BTW, not that important but is there an option to have colored text too?

I tried to open the embedded image (Selected Threads) in post #154 of this thread in a new tab and it did not seem to load, so I went back and clicked the image and the screen went grey, but the image did not load. Clicking ESC is not exiting out of the greyed out screen either.

It would be nice to have a larger target area to click to open the recent activity for subscribed threads. I believe there was previously a text link to click which was a much easier target than the small arrow icon.

I am also really missing the black background of the Classic theme. The new theme is too bright for my mole-man eyes.

or is the "RPF Feed" the replacement ?, cause it looks horrible like a twitter feed, I find the subject more important then the, He or She replied to a thread, before the subject, it just looks messy with the monochrome colors.

or is there a setting to just show the latest subject replies in a list, like the old site.

I also find the overall look of the site not like Prometheus, but more Depressed Graveyard !, please throw some color back in there

I agree, the embedded links needs to be more visible. They could be permanently highlighted with a underline to make them stand out.

Not sure if it's been posted before already, or if it's my retina screen doing weird things again, but when displaying a picture full size in a thread, the greyed background that appears around the pic flashes white (or disappear ?) every 10 sec or so. No big deal but it kinda hurts when you're in the dark :lol
Other than that, I like grey, but a few colors here in there would be nice, like for the links, the "FS/T, INT,..." of the junkyard, the rep points (thought they disappeared at first !) etc.
One more thing, I don't see any ads right now, despite not being premium member. It's not that I particularly want to see ads, but is this normal ? Although, from what I read they are now displayed between posts, like when I wasn't logged in, that kinda sucks, it feels like the conversation is interrupted. I have now problem having ads above like before, or on the sides or between the body and the footer, but between posts it really degrades the experience of reading a thread.
For the rest, I like it ! Especially the new banner and logo, they rock !

Having read most of the posts on this, I'll leave it by just mentioning the dark styling which is difficult to make out on the iPad.
Oh.... And just noticed that the " post reply" button is hard to see also

While there might be a few tweaks, this is pretty much it. As with most of the net, we have permanently moved to a dark on light scheme, although we went as dark as we thought we could get away with and still call it a "light background." I don't mean to be insensitive, but if this is hurting your eyes, I don't know how you are able to operate on the net with so many sites taking a much higher contrast approach, with much brighter colors. This was as muted as we could get and still allow for those with sight issues to be able to discern the background from the content.

Well I anticipated this in your upcoming reply ... but it doesn't hold any grounds ... since here I need to read and sometimes write many large pieces of text while on i.e. ebay or other sites I merely just have to glance at what I need to know ... and if it hurts my eyes to much even when brightness being to the lowest setting on my screen I just move along . . . so you must understand that the computerscreen is not a book ... the screen works like a lamp or as I called it a lightbox ... so my sensitive eyes that need to read through a lot of text are being comprimised if this website stays like this ... which means basically if this will remain so ... you've taken the joy out of my attending here . . . as often as I do.

Also since the Resin Illuminati - website is still able to have the text in white on a black background this should quite easily be able to fix by your engineers and offered as an option for me to choose from ... so I urge you to reconsider your point of view from a designer/webmaster ... not only on my behalf but on everybody's well being and health when it comes to their eyesight.

I like the new layout but it would be nice to get back the number of the pages under the thread title, so that we can directly jump to the last one without having to open the first page of the thread

Although a change is welcome, I dont think this new template is working for me. The menus on top and the quick navigation on bottom are difficult to read, the text is too small and the grey doesnt has enought contrast with the background darker gray.

Im a professional graphic and web designer, and first thing I think of when facing a work is funcionality, clearity, readabilty and such, and give the user as easy access to the wanted information as I can, and according to that, I would never use a template like that. The general color is too plain and there is no color or typographic variations to guide the user eyes to the main sections. For example, in the main menu the area for the threads is small, and even in a big monitor has i have you have to scroll halfway down to get to it. Then, the small text and the too gray color for all text does not let you read the thread titles as easily as you should. Then, once in the threads, more or less the same. All text is gray, there is no color or size or weight variations to break the sameness of the page, and the name of the authors of the post gets kind of lost.

Please understand that I say these things without harshness and maybe I come across as smug or such, but Im not, I do it because I love this place and I want to see it become better than it already is.

Sorry if im being dumb or this has been asked, but on the main forum page how can you tell there is new posts in each "sub" forum without actually clicking into them, as with the old site you could tell by a difference in text without having to go in the sub forum? if that makes any sense. It might just be me being a numpty

Im not up on all the tech speak for forums lol I just use them and dont ask questions
