Some time ago, the organization I belong to would, from time to time, publish a fanzine. It wasn't anything big, but it gave us a creative outlet for writing and artwork.
I created this character whom I have named Nora Flagg. She's a Starfleet Security officer, serving on the Enterprise.
Yep, she's a Redshirt. But this redshirt is a female equivilant to John McClane. The challenge I had presented to my group was to create a story to go with the illustration.

Sure! Why should the Captain be to only officer to have his uniform torn up?:lol
To me, Redshirts are the soldiers. Soldiers are an honorable group of people. This is a small tribute to those poor characters that get joked upon all the time. I wanted to dispaly someone with guts and determination not to become a "statistic".

Thank you for noticing the extra firepower! This image is just before she bears both phasers to the source of the attack.
As to the comment on her skirt length, I thought a bit more would add to the action that was taking place, as well as the sweep of her hair.

Finished this tonight, all free hand drawn with mouse, except the background. I use GIMP to do my digital paintings, hope you guys enjoy.
