New retooled Revell Cylon Raider

I am honored and humbled to be painting the retooled Cylon Raider from Revell, for their box top and promotional use! Check out how NICE this is - very close to the studio scale details now - Revell did an amazing job. I'll be posting progress shots as I go!

I'm going to buy a fleet of these babies!

Yep - but it's better than it used to be... I have my studio scale Raider, and this is a great compliment, and for some people, maybe a kickstart to get more BSG models.

When is this baby getting released?! I've heard for over a year that they were going to do one but, this is the first I've heard anything since.

I was hoping the canopy would be clear and all the raised panel lines would now be recessed.
Could we get a better look at the additional sprue and clear parts?

With the success of the new series, Revellogram decided to reissue their Cylon Raider, Colonial Viper, and Cylon Basestar kits with some re-tooled parts to make them more accurate (the Galactica kit was deemed far too inaccurate and too costly to completely re-tool). When Revell was bought out earlier this year, plans to issue styrene kits from the new series were allegedly scrapped. :cry

Yes. From what I've read, Revell was far enough along on the re-tooling project that the new owners (Hobbico) decided to see it through.

I bought the whole set of Revell BSG reissue kits some years back. Are you guys saying these are new-new reissue kits? newer than the ones I have?

Yes, later this year they're re-release the kits but as they've mentioned - retooled patterns - what you have is just repackaged '78 kits

I have yet to confirm, though, that the retooling consists of anything more than a new sprue of additional parts.

There is a 100% accurate studio scale kit if the injection isn't good enough.

Not sayin' it isn't, but it still would be nice to know if the entire thing has been reworked or not.

Hi All,I'm building the Basestar for Revell at the moment. I can tell you that all three kits have more than just new sprues added. The Viper has some major changes along with the Raider. The Basestar kit tue enough still has the original saucers but that is it. It has all new bridges, inner wedges, a belt line, new top piece, and a ... Well, that part is a secret. I'll post some photos soon.
