Hey everyone,

I thought some of you might be interested in checking out my progress on a new saber project. This model is meant to be an accurate replica of the Kylo Ren stunt lightsabers used in TFA. The body type that we got to see at Celebration in the early days of the sequel trilogy.

This version has a lot of weird distinct body design differences. The silver engine in the center of the crossguard is a mirror of the hero. The emitter proportions are different, with the little teeth now extending up to the central emitter ring. The central grip is oriented off center from the emitter and crossguard section. There's a bunch of little variations like that, which make this version quite singular.

The idea for this project is to have the master printed and then have resin copies made, so that people who want a more economical version than a cnc'd replica will still be able to add something accurate to their collection. Along the lines of my Maul saber Malice Double Bladed Laser Sword Kit | Stars' End
Let me know what you think, and if you see anything I've missed, let me know.

I would be interested. Need a nice belt hanger for my Kylo.

I might also suggest you make the clip (if you’re making it yourself) or the hilt compatible with the JJ Industries belt clips as a lot of folks tend to use that one.

I don't have one of these myself. If someone wanted to lend me their JJ belt clip holder, I could make mine work with their's

Casting has begun! Always fun to see the model become something you can hold in your hand!

Beautiful. I'm definitely down for one.

One thing I've noticed about the stunt hilt is that the gap between the upper and lower portion of the hilt appears a bit more pronounced than the hero hilts. I also kinda see a side profile of a screw inside this bigger gap. It's kinda hard to tell if yours has these features.

There's a whole bunch of differences between the various models. I don't think that's a screw, I think it's a pool of resin or rubber that filled in an air hole in the mold. On these stunts, I tried to capture all of the idiosyncrasies of the stunt model, without including the damage of any particular casting. The goal is to have the best casting from the lot.

I'm not a huge fan of sequel props but man... Those look fantastic.
Thanks for the compliment. I kinda took up this project because I got the sense that sequel props might not produce the same drive as the OT. However, if an economical and accurate option would be available, the opportunity to complete one's collection could prove too hard to resist. So, the goal here is to make a KR saber that is accurate, distinct, but won't break the bank--sorta like I did with my Maul run.
