New NetFlix Feature Available - Download

Netflix announced on Wednesday members now have the option to download movies and shows to watch offline later. This means you can finally watch the new season of Stranger Things and Bloodlinewhile on a flight or stuck in the subway.



The feature comes free of cost with all Netflix (NFLX, Tech30) memberships. Members will want to make sure they have the most recent Netflix app on their Android or iOS devices to access the new "download" button.


Up until now, you needed a place with a reliable internet connection to access the streaming service. But Netflix wants to make its product more nimble to suit the lives of those on the go.

Don't get me wrong, i love the idea, but the reason they hadn't done it in the past is piracy. Once that file is on your computer, it's much easier to hack at....

I'd guess you'd have to validate your membership to launch the app, but not have to stream the content. Otherwise you can download a months worth of stuff and just quit and watch offline as much as you like.

Will be nice for those on the go though - but i still can't get my head around watching tv or movies on my phone. Too damned small Tablet, maybe...
