NEW Model Design & Blueprinting Handbook

Folks, it's finally here. I've been hard at work on this special project for nearly an entire year. ItÂ’s called the Model Design & Blueprinting Handbook and may be the only book on the subject ever published for modelers.

IÂ’ve been drafting plans for nearly 20 years. During that time, I've tackled some difficult subjects and many people have asked me how I am able to make such accurate blueprints. Until now, if you wanted to learn how to do this, you needed to get a complicated textbook or take a drafting course. Now, this new book explains many of these concepts in a format that is very easy to understand and apply.

Today, with the advent of new technology such as computer drawing programs and 3D modeling applications, the whole process is getting easier than ever before. If you understand the basics, you can draw accurate plans for just about any project.

I wrote and illustrated this new book especially for modelers. Both 3D and traditional modeler can benefit from this material. Part 1 of a 3-part series, this volume is packed with over 265 pages and more than 230 detailed illustrations. If you've ever wanted to see how to make your own blueprints or derive construction patterns for your project from a set of existing drawings or other reference, this book will show you how.

There is so much material included, it’s really more like a foundational course in 2D drawing techniques that will be invaluable for anyone who wants to design and build their own projects from scratch – be they real or “virtual.” The price is $29.95 plus shipping and the first books off the press will be available exclusively online.

This book wonÂ’t be released until early next year. But those who pre-order now can receive an advance copy next month. The response has been incredible so the pre-order slots are filling fast. To order now or get more information, please check out the following link:

Hello,

I have been ask numerous times how do you create your drawings and I have attempted to develop a tutorial and have failed miserable, but I had the opportunity to review a draft of this book and it everything that it claims. I have completed a number of projects where I only used photos for reference, they are posted here:
http://www.angelfire.com/scifi2/wizardofflight/
and
http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/misc/wol/
as well as all of my Boba and Jango Fett templates and Star Wars Blaster drawings and the techniques in this book are just the ticket. I had to learn them the hard way, but this book would have saved me a lot of time and hassles.

If you have any interest in scratch building physical or CGI models from photo references the techniques discussed in this book are essential and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to venture into this world you wonÂ’t be disappointed.

Alan

I would like to thank everyone for their encouragement and enthusiasm for this project and for all the pre-orders that have been pouring in. People are very excited about this new book and the response so far has been really positive. The final proof has just been received from the printer and the book looks great. It won't be long before those who have pre-ordered will receive their advance copies.

Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the pre-order offer is being extended just a bit longer. If you missed out, you can still reserve your copy by December 4 and get upgraded Priority Shipping at no additional charge if you are in the US or a discount on International shipping charges. After that, all orders must include full price for shipping.

In addition, I will be personally autographing each and every pre-ordered book. For more information on the book as well as instructions for ordering, please visit http://www.ModelersNotebook.com

Note that the Introduction is now available to view and read online, along with the Foreword by Alan Sinclair, a.k.a. "Wizard of Flight" at http://www.modelersnotebook.com/MDBH1-Contents1.html

PS If you know anyone who might be interested in this book, please spread the word. Thanks..

Less than 50 copies left for pre-order. Good through 12/15. Pre-order now to get your advance, autographed copy.

Thanks. :D

LAST CALL for pre-orders. These will be accepted through Friday, December 15. Anyone who pre-orders now will receive an autographed copy of the book (currently scheduled to ship before 12/30). Only one case of books was delivered before Christmas. The remaining books are arriving from the printer by truck today and will begin shipping out on Thursday. All remaining pre-orders should be filled by the end of the week.

So, not much longer to wait for those who pre-ordered. :)

Shipment was delayed until I could sign the books personally. Pre-orders are now shipping as we speak. As fast as they can get them out the door. Everyone is getting a personal e-mail when their book is sent out. Please note they are being sent out in the order received (i.e. first in = first out). 20 books were packed for shipment yesterday, but only 10 actually went out. A total of about 40-50 should make it out today. This will continue until all are out, then the review copies start going out.

Looking forward to it, thanks for the update.

I received my copy yesterday. Thanks Star-Art.

So far, I've only read through chapter 2 but this is an excellent book for someone like me who wants to learn more about both drawing and reading plans / blueprints. It's well written and full of useful information.

For anyone on the fence about getting this book, it seems to me to be money very well spent.

Got my book today and it's excellent. Haven't put it down yet, except to make this post of course. Great stuff.

Some people might not know the new book is now available for sale on the website. Pre-orders were sold out completely, but regular ordering is now online and available.

Lots of praise is coming in about the book. Some reader's comments can be seen here:

While it's not yet sold out completely, it's starting to head in that direction. If I'm not mistaken, there may now be less than 100 copies remaining. This monster of a book cost a small fortune to print, so no guarantees on more copies. Get 'em while you can.

Enjoy. :)

Hi,

Just ordered your book. See PM

Hoping to be able to use some new techniques on my SS Snowspeeder :D

Cheers
Nick

I got it, thanks.
Looks great, I can't wait to really dig into it.

I'll post a review after I have had time to read it.
:)

A new online Glossary has just been posted. You can also download a printable version in PDF format along with a printable INDEX in PDF format as well.

The online Glossary is interactive with hyperlinks between all related terms. Enjoy. :)
