NEW! (Metal) Cross of Coronado - Progress Thread

Some more great news!

I just got the pearls in and they are awesome! The best quality fake pearls you can buy, and they weren't cheap either!:lol

The picture I showed does not do them justice. These look like the real thing!:love:thumbsup

Pics, pics, pics and still pics Brenton!!! :p

I'm not sure I could take a better pic, but they look better than this pic of them.:love:thumbsup

Brenton, you work just keeps getting better and better. She's shaping up beautifully!

Can't wait to see the finished product.:thumbsup

The new cross mold with the settings looks great, but the first couple of castings didn't come out great!:unsure

I have an idea that should get this working right, which I will do tomorrow.

What I'm going to do, is complete two crosses to show. One gold-plated, and one brass-plated. The brass-plated will be aged and have a slight patina added to match the prop in the archives book. The gold-plated version, which does not accept aging chemicals will look "brand new".
So, I will leave it up to you guys to determine which is the best.

I personally favor the aged brass as the best, since it will look mostly what's seen on film, but we'll see when it's all said and done. :cool

I definitely think Brass is the way to go!! But still looking forward to see the two different finishes!

What do you think the Screen Used Cross was made from or plated with?? Looking at the pics the corpus looks quite dark, which I personally like as it shows the details much more than some of the gold plated replica crosses I have seen.

Are you still looking to use real MoP inlay and Blue Lace Agate??

Thanks,

GeordieIndy

The original looks to be brass plated, since it has a patina look to it.

I'm still using the real MoP and Blue Lace Agate.
Also the pearls are loose pearls with no holes drilled in them.:cool:thumbsup
