Hey everyone - amazing community!

Currently residing in the Charlotte, NC area, working as a welding engineer primarily in the nuclear power industry. Taking a bit of a break this year from race car fabrication to do some projects with my teenage daughter, whom I am also homeschooling this year due to COVID and general dissatisfaction with the local school system.

Built a theater room for movie watching and gaming when I first bought the house around a decade ago, and acquiring a 3D printer has jump started my passion for model making again. Mostly worked on custom race car 1/24 scale models in my 20's (had to do something during those snowy PA winters), but have moved on to some movie prop mashups and replicas for a theater room refresh.

Stumbled across RPF doing some Ghost in the Shell research, and am truly in awe at the depth of skill and attention to detail put forth by the members of this forum!

Greetings everyone!

My name is Sean and I am a Canadian artist who has worked in a number of mediums over the years. I have always made items of interest from a toothpick Wright brother's Flyer to a martial arts Sai.

I am an avid D&D DM/player (over 30 years) and hand-build terrain pieces for our games.

Over the last year and half I have been gravitating towards prop builds and dioramas. I was excited to learn about the RPF Forum (from Adam Savage on Tested) and look forward to meeting others and reading / contributing!

Here are a couple of recent projects (completed and in progress):

Blade Runner PKD-13 Prop Blaster (Blade Runner inspired)

Hiya!
My name is Alezar and I’ve been a huge fan of movie props and replicas for a while! While I have yet to really get my hands on some higher end pieces, I do have a large funko pop collection along with a True Blood bottle

Hello all,
Been falling through the site from time to time and decided after reading through the Martian helmet build I should join up, so here I am.
I've helped many people over the years with various projects but rarely any complete prop projects for myself. Strong points are metal work and sewing.

G'day!

After using the site for years I thought I should join up and contribute to the community that has helped me out so much. I've been scratch building props for the past 5 or 6 years and I've recently purchased a 3D printer to expand my skills a bit. I look forward to adding to this community and seeing what I can learn from it.

Here are a couple of photos of my most recent projects, a custom Star Wars blaster and a replica of the vibroblade from the Mandalorian which I modelled and finished myself.

I love the use of the spray bottle part on that blaster, I always thought those things would make great blaster bits.

Realised I had never done one of these.

I’m Max from Sweden.

Always been a Huge Star Wars fan and a few years ago I decided to build my favorite Trooper, the Scout Trooper.
IMG_5889.jpg

That led me to collecting other helmets, and the collection keeps growing. Right now I have 5 helmets, all from RS. Stormtrooper Stunt, Hero, Sandtrooper, Snowtrooper and Scout Trooper. All of it boxed up now that my mancave became a kids room :) had a few 1/6 figures aswell but decided to focus on 1:1 scale.

Other than SW I am a Huge video game nerd, love to read books and watch my local football team (soccer for you US people :) ) also watch anime, read manga and practice karate. And cosplay. :)

Man life would be easier with less interests or 40 hour days.

Right now I am working on a Scarlet Spider cosplay.

Thanks - it isn't correct for accuracy but it works well and the build was always Blade Runner inspired!
Yeah, it definitely has that Blade Runner vibe. I might even have an empty spray bottle lying around just waiting to be turned into a blaster!

Hello! I'm Carl from CCSabers. Based in Baltimore, MD. My friend told me about this Forum some time ago. I came here and found the project run section and......wallet crying haha. Now I am also doing my first hilt project, it's a TCW S7 Ahsoka Tano Inspired Lightsaber. Hope people will like it!

I would like to get this set. Your website says they’re sold out. Will you be making more?

Howdy. I'm honored to be on the "Replica Prop Forum". I have admired the work of so many people here for a long time and I'm grateful to be here. I am a collector/historian of mainly early television from the 40s through the 70s (which is strange I know, considering I'm only 24). I have a love of puppetry and my main focus is on the NBC series "Howdy Doody". I am lucky to know a lot of people who knew the cast and crew of the original show and have sent me images of the props, costumes and marionettes they have from the show. This led to me making my own replicas. I've built a replica of Clarabell the Clown's horn box and I'm working on a replica Howdy marionette.

Hey everyone,

I’m Matt. Grew up mostly in a small town in central IL, but joined the Navy at 22 as a nuclear reactor operator. Been married to my wife Steph for almost 15 years. Currently living in the Columbia, SC area about an hour south of Charlotte and 2 hours from Charleston, and working in the local church.

I’m a self-proclaimed Star Wars super fan, and love collecting vintage figures, SW LEGO, some autographs, and now props. I’m really wanting to expand my collection, and am especially excited to apply soon for membership in the Rebel Legion as a resistance pilot.

I’d one day love to hone the skills to make even a fraction of some of the amazing props I see here!

Hey y'all!

I'm Al, from Atlanta! I've been a model maker for a while, and have recently (past couple years) become fascinated with the movie prop world. I figured, I should probably stop lurking and actually join up!

I recently purchased everything I need to build my own replicant blaster model after doing extensive research on techniques, best building practices, etc. No room in my house right now for anything like my own 3D printer, but I'd really like to build up my maker toolbelt after a while.

I'm super excited to be more involved in a community that makes such awesome things - I'm stoked to keep learning.

Hello everyone. Jim here. ID:10-T I couldn't use the "special" characters to write my name correctly. I'm not special.

I like designing, building and modifying, well, everything. Somewhere in my profile (I guess) I'm listing my "credentials" such as they are.

Currently, my "paying" job is inspecting and overhauling P&W military jet engine turbine blades. Well, I'm the senior engineer, so I tell other people to do it (usually) but I always get the "weird" stuff to figure out. That's fun. Sometimes. Been in the field for a long time. A long time.

I have recovered from COVID, I don't recommend it to anyone, though it seems I got off "easy". Anyway, during my isolation, I watched (all) of "vice grip garage" and Adam Savage's "tested" (I think I have a few Tested episodes left to watch). Seeing Adam in his "cave" reminds me a LOT of myself. I hope we can meet and chat some day...

Anyway, I have always ALWAYS wanted a Han Solo blaster. Well, since 1977 anyway. I learned a lot about the "correct" parts to use, and hope to build one at some point.

I have put together a decent Indiana Jones costume. I don't want to total the costs, but it was not insignificant. I guess Han is next. Ouch!

That blaster research led me down the rabbit hole that is "lightsabers". I always thought they were cool, and even considered fencing lessons at one point (never did it), but I was always disappointed with how they looked, and the plastic "toys" were, in my opinion, junk. WOW has that changed! I hope to make up some "found item" sabers, and also make some "fancy" ones with light and sound. I have already been searching for "new" parts that I could incorporate into designs. (I spend a LOT of time on industrial supply sites for work anyway).

Whatever, right? So I'll shut up now. I've been lurking for a week or so, and figured I'd just signup already. Hopefully, I don't leave too much of a mess in my wake... but I probably will.

I'm SailingRabbit, or Catherine. Big fan of Aliens, mainly the Colonial Marines (but building an Alien: Isolation Marshal Waits costume after seeing someone start one over on Aliens Legacy). My boyfriend-now-fiance got me into Stargate and Battlestar Galactica (so now I'm trying to find Valkyrie patches for him).

I have a complete Shawshank Redemption Andy Dufresne costume I made for Halloween three years ago. Funny story, reading the original novella in high school led me to really love the movie. I'll post pictures when I get the chance. Just moved into my first apartment and everything is still in boxes.

I also have a Pvt. Drake cap as part of a cosplay I want to do, along with an M65 jacket because I also want to do Lt. Gorman at some point (and it's a very functional jacket for everyday use). Someone over on Aliens Legacy sent me a spare Marshal badge (he goes by retrogarde there, not sure if he's here, too). So, yeah, bits and pieces, and only one full costume.
