Hey, everyone!

My name's Milé and I got back into modelling back in 2015 after a very long break (which wasn't intended as a break since I built a handful of Star Trek ships and an A-Wing in the '90s and that was that...until I "resumed").

My main interest is modelling, but I like looking at props and costumes, too. I haven't built many prop replicas, but I've been retrofitting a few childhood toys to be more screen accurate...sorta. Anyway, it's all for fun and I'm glad to be posting here after lurking for years.

Cheers!
Milé

Hi, I'm Nick, from the Uk, long time browser here. I'm into also kinds of sci fi, but mainly the original V, and Aliens, happy to chat with other fans/collectors : )

Hi all!!

I'm technically "new" because I only posted a few times nearly a decade ago. I've been lurking on and off ever since, but have recently come out of hiding due to having WAY more free time (thanks covid) and a loving, supporting, awesome partner who is extremely encouraging of this stuff (it helps a lot)!

My primary fandom is Ghostbusters (I've made about 10 ish proton packs over the years to varying degrees of accuracy...), but my passion project is "The Machine" from Honey I Shrunk the Kids, aka the "Shrink Ray" (see avatar). I also worked as a prop builder in Hollywood / Burbank before making the jump to post production (mostly because air conditioning).

What's up y'all?! Long time listener, first time caller. I'm an elementary math teacher in BG, KY. I have been building replicas since high-school, but I have tied to focus more on authentic replications from my favorite movies. Currently, I am replicating various movie props to decorate our movie room. I have tons of original movie posters and several model cars of vehicles featured in movies & tv shows. I have always loved movie trivia, behind the scenes details, and the props created for movies.

I look forward to sharing what I've made, but more importantly avoiding criticizing anybody else's work. It takes a lot of time and creativity to create a replica, so the last thing you want to hear is someone pointing out the small errors or inconsistencies with your creation. We're all here to check out each other's work.

"We are all created in GOD's image and likeness. GOD created the heavens and the earth. What can you create?"

Hi all,

I'm Kristi, I've been lurking for a bit now but I think I'm finally going to take the plunge and start posting some of my work to the forums. I do a lot of Labyrinth stuff, right now I'm on a bit of a kick regarding the items you can see in Sarah's room at the beginning of the film.

I consider myself a bit of a novice when it comes to prop making but I'm hoping that by being more active on this forum that I can pick up some tips and bump up the quality of my stuff a bit. Thanks for having me!

Hi everyone,
I joined due to my love of Star Wars. I finally will be creating a Star Wars themed theater room and Star Wars Cantina/Tiki bar. I have a lot of the helmets, but now need to move into making or buying Han Solo in Carbonite, a melted Vader helmet, and the matching the walls and cabinets. Thanks!
Rob

Hi all,
I've been lurking and making replicas for about two years now and this year I finally got around to being more active in the prop community. I mainly collect Star Wars helmets and enjoy some more obscure pieces as well. Excited to see what I can contribute to. Thanks everyone!

Hello everyone! I have been hiding in the shadows for a year or so and finally made the leap to start getting down to actually building my own props. I am looking forward to scouring the posts and learning as much as possible.

Eric

I am new to this site. From Whittier CA. I've been a Star Wars fan since 1977 when I was a boy. I joined because I want to learn methods on how to build Star Wars props-especially a life-sized Han Solo in Carbonite.

Hi everyone,

My names Jay,

I’ve been building props and models for a few years now, All Aliens related really.
I found this site as after finishing my real parts motion tracker I am now looking to build a full metal hero pulse rifle and real parts shoulder lamp to go with my Terry English armour for a personal display in my house. I have already found a lot of good info on this site and am looking forward to getting to know everyone and see more.

thanks

Jay

Hi there folks, my name is Tristan and truth be told I'm more illustrator than prop maker BUT having lost my job to Covid I've found myself watching a certain YouTube channel where things get built in one day... and it's pushed me back into cleaning up my own little workspace in the garage to have fun building stuff. I built a (very rough) wooden replica of a blaster from my original scifi comic The Adventures of Terrik Zion a while back so I could reference it for drawing in perspective and whatnot, and recently got it in my head to build a new one but this time try to make it look like a real cosplay type prop and not just a quick-and-dirty drawing aid. (The new blaster isn't finished yet; but this morning I embarked on putting together a TOS Phaser 1 and 2 using some scrap 2x3 wood). Looking forward to posting some progress of that and hanging out here!

Hi All, new here. Not much experience with forums, but knew this could be a good place for sharing info and resources.

I know this isn't new but ever since I watched Sucker Punch movie, I have wanted to have the Katana. Really different from everything else out there in my opinion.

I am going to try to make a aluminium copy of the SuckerPunch Babydoll's Katana (blade portion), from scratch. I bought the art book, the 7075 aluminium slab, a not so good copy of the sword for it's parts(the tsuba mainly), and Im going to attempt to engrave the blade. Much to learn from all of this. STill need to buy the wood working tools for the hilt and saya.

I know there are a lot of mixed names and all, im not too fussed about name really :p

Not sure how long it is going to take or even successes, but I will try. Even Master Yoda said: Do or not, there is no try.^-*.

If any one has already the artwork done in Illustrator format and willing to share for free, I'd be more than appreciate it.

Good luck to me!

Hello there!

My name is Christian. I've been cosplaying since 2013 and producing props since 2015. After lurking through RPF for a while, I thought joining would help me present my work and find others who share the same passions as me. I'm experienced in hot glue, foam, and acrylic paints but would like to learn more to improve my techniques for future projects such the Aliens M41a Pulse Rifle, ODST Armor from the Halo series, and Onslaught from Transformers G1 to name a few.

My favorite costume I made to date is the Purge Trooper from Fallen Order and my favorite homemade prop is the Proton Pack from Ghostbusters.

Other than that, I'm excited to post my projects and communicate with other members!

Howdy people!

The names Kane. I've been collecting forever. First video games and figures then 1/4 scale statues and finally 1:1 scale movie character pieces, mostly busts which is what I've been into since 2014.

I recently decided to start learning to paint raw busts myself and repaint my pieces that needed it. That then got me interested in the more creative side of the hobby and gave me the desire to further my knowledge in other areas such as replica prop building/creating. This seemed like the best place to do so, therefor I am here.

I have also now developed more of an interest in other 1:1 scale movie pieces like replica prop weapons and helmets etc. This forum I'm sure will only increase that interest! Another great thing about being here of course is just to admire the incredible work that so many very talented people are showing here!

Cheers.

Hello All!

I’m fairly new to the prop making world. I’ve only made a few small things, most recently trooper trents training remote kit, which is fantastic! Enjoying these threads and learning new techniques so much. The talent, knowledge, passion, and attention to detail on here is really impressive and inspiring. Looking forward to being more active on here and sharing!

On that note I’m working on a FX install of a Roman props MK1 Old Ben saber. Doing neopixel, crystal chamber, and proffie v2.2. Essentially I’m literally jumping into the deep end, so any and all help from those with experience would be greatly appreciated!

Looking forward to being a part of this great community!

Jon

Hello everybody!

I'm a maker from the UK. I've been building unconventional things for years, since childhood actually, not all of them prop/replica related.

I have a Youtube channel (youtube/andysmachines) and several people have suggested I post on this forum about my Terminator build I'm currently documenting (I'll start a separate thread for this in the proper category). Robots and machines (both sci-fi and real life) are my main passion. I love films from the 80's (when I grew up) Terminator, Robocop, Back to the Future, Aliens, Bladerunner, Predator, Ghostbusters etc. I'm also interested in scale RC modelling, particularly trucks and heavy construction equipment.

If I had unlimited resources I would love to build ED209 from robocop. Sadly I have neither the money, time or space for that. Space being one of the main considerations, I have a fairly well equipped but small garage workshop, so most of my projects are smallish and I tend to build things from scratch using scrap or commonly available items.

Thanks for having me!

Andy

Hello all!

My name is Ryan, and I was actually referred to this site by Gerald Gurian of StarTrekPropAuthority.com a few months ago, but it had been put on the back burner.

I had reached out to Mr. Gurian hoping to shed some light on a few items I had come across that I all but knew were from Star Trek (whether screen-used or replicas was the questions).

For starters, back in 2009, I purchased my first house from Ed Miarecki. Yes, that Ed Miarecki. When I first saw the house, the garage was filled with model kits and tools/equipment and there was a large control center panel in the basement.

I didn't make my way up into the top of the garage for a good year or two after buying the house, but when I did, I came across all sorts of stuff. Phasers, a ship, model kits, and a whole stack of movie production photos that are unfortunately stuck together due to having been left next to the water heater (where I originally found them).

I'm coming to this site in hopes of finding out more about the things I've come across as far as what they may be worth. Who knows, I'll probably end up listing the stuff here!
