Howdy, all
My name is Dave. I've never been too heavy into prop building until about 17 years ago when people started hitting me up for authentic-looking items to help dress up their Halloween haunts. Mostly because they would see the stuff I made for my own house/yard.
I became fascinated with movie props the very first time that I saw the opening credits for A Nightmare on Elm Street where it showed the razor glove being constructed. Of course, I had to try to make one for myself. It was pretty ambitious for a little kid but it demonstrated to me that I didn't only have to rely on glue together plastic models and licensed toys to get my hands on something that I admired from a particular film.
So, now that I'm ancient, I've been getting back into making things. Generally sticking with the horror props just because they're the most fun for me, but still slipping in an occasional science fiction item here and there.
For the record, Adam Savage (Mythbusters, Tested.COM) is how I was originally made aware of this forum. I look forward to reading and contributing where I can.

Thanks for the add,
Dave

Hey everyone,

Great site some of the projects look amazing must be some seriously talented people here, looking forward to jumping on a few Star Wars builds.

Hi all! Excited to be here! Long time lurker haha. I've been collecting for a few years, though nothing of extreme quality. I have collected a Tenth and Twelfth Sonic Remote, a TOS Phaser remote, a "sonic watch" made by Nick Robatto (before he could make sonics to sell), a few different portal guns from Rick and Morty (different 3D prints and models and such, some more usable than others haha).

I just recently picked up an R B Replicas custom sonic, so this will be my first true, proper, custom prop replica purchase. Thanks so much for being so awesome, everyone!

Hello, I'm Patrick and I am from several places on the East Coast including NJ, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Charlottesville (Current). I joined because soon I'll have enough time to pursue some of my craft tendencies and specifically I'm interested in building some Dune 1984 props, starting with the Guild Translator box onna-stick (found one build of it on here and already started asking questions :)).

I have an eclectic background, shops classes in HS, theater set designing/building/tech direction in college, amateur carpenter/blacksmith, some welding. Looking to eventually learn some electronics and 3D printing and I think making some props from my favorite movies would be a good way to learn.

Eventually, I'd love to do some collaborations with folks if the opportunity presents itself. Glad to be here, I've heard great things about the community!

Also, I'm really interested in replicating some of the set furniture from Altered Carbon, specifically Ortega's Hex Shelves, I love the design!

I’m Will, going by the moniker CreateTillIDie (Create Till I Die) because I’m fighting an uncurable cancer. I’ve been creating since I could hold a crayon. I was a Creative Director/Graphic Designer for 35+ years before I was diagnosed, but have also always been an artist and musician. Currently I’m working on the Nuclear Keys from the original Andromeda Strain, putting the finishing touches on a miniature TARDIS, and just completed a Beatles Scrapbook replica.
As you can see, it utilized the Sgt. Pepper portion from Yellow Submarine. The 13 year old in me got inspired to do it after seeing it in a recent Beatles auction. The top is the original and the bottom is mine

Hi, I’m Dave from Utah, and this is my Dalek, Clarence. It’s radio controlled. So far I’ve built Clarence and a K-9 from Doctor Who, and right now I’m working on a Tik Tok cosplay from Return to Oz.

Hi everybody! Mitchell from London here, long time stalker, decided to take the plunge as I'm working on some bits I'd love to show people the process of.

I work as a prop-maker in film and TV, and it's my hobby too -I love making replicas and fun costumes! I'm currently working on a few pieces, but the biggest one is a BD-1 from Fallen Order.

Looking forward to seeing everyone elses amazing builds!

Greeting. My name is Lawrence Tetewsky. I am a fan and filmmaker in Buffalo, NY. Currently I am self employed in computer repair, and I also serve as Associate Producer of the locally produced/nationally aired (on Retro TV) series Captain Isotope and the Enemy of Space.
My wife and I collect a number of different fandoms (SW, TREK, Phantom of Opera, Shakespeare, etc). I am only a moderately competent builder. My most recent project was upgrades on a B9 Robot I acquired several years ago (not studio accurate by any means but still very appealing).

Good morning all. Recently stumbled upon this community, but needless to say i'm unfortunately now hooked! Already looking into starting a brand new build project (*Cough*Pulse rifle*Cough*) ;) Although I am still very new to all of this, I've already found so many useful resources, answers, and people here. Look forward to seeing awesome builds, and will keep people up-to-date with my poor attempts at replication as well

Hey all

I've been lurking here for a while after finding this forum searching for plans for a fallout laser musket. I ended up finding the one Jim utz built and ordered a kit from him. I halfway built it and it ended up in storage and somehow disappeared. I recently got in touch with him and ordered another, which, 4 years later, he was still able to make. In the meantime waiting for him to cast the resin (and unemployed during quarantine) I built the worst gun in fallout... The .50cal bolt action pipe pistol, from scratch.
It's all wood and various metals. I plan on making the next one have a trigger that releases the rear bolts and firing pin.

Hi, I recently came across this forum, and I love it. I am a multi-generational special effects technician. Ive worked on many cool projects and films, although I am young enough that true fans aren't really fond of anything I was a part of. Still, I enjoyed my part.
I got away from the big productions a few years back, the long hours were really messing with my health and didn't allow me time to work on my projects. I left Ca, and now own a nice little fx rental and fabrication business. I mostly joined because I am inspired by the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the members of this group, and i am always looking to learn and spit spitball ideas on projects.

Hi everyone,

I'm in Maryland, USA. I've been collecting movies since the 80's, and I currently have a collection of over 5,000 titles. I have collected Star Wars items (especially Boba Fett themed) since the first toys came out in 1978, and I bought my first prop replica about 20 years ago. I have recently started collecting many more prop replicas, mostly focused on Indiana Jones items. I'm currently interested in buying the highest quality replicas available of the Indiana Jones items, and will branch out into Star Wars and a few other franchises once that is completed. I am also thinking about making some of my own prop replicas, and I'm hoping that my 35 years of experience in the sign industry will come in handy for that.

Hello RPF!

I'm a longtime fan and reader, but I've only recently gotten into making my own props. I recently bought a 3d printer, and have starting making things here or there. I'm just starting to tackle my first project, but I'm excited to see what I can do! I'm a lover of science fiction (especially Star Wars) and have also wanted to make my own versions of the guns, light sabers and general tech I've grown up seeing on screen. I decided to finally make an account so that I can share my projects with the community, and hopefully get useful feedback/advice from more experienced members.

Clear skies!

Hello.
I've been a longtime lurker. I used JeeBee25's wonderful step by step to make my own Vince Clortho helmet to wear to conventions. I'm not a great craftsman, more of a photographer. I'd like to get better, but I stick to things I'm good at. I'm alright at putting together costumes for conventions, but I'd rather buy something that is outside of my skill wheelhouse.

I am going stir crazy with Covid quarantine, so I've been buying a lot of prop replicas and doing involved photoshoots with them. Is there an appropriate place in this forum to show off prop replicas we've bought?

Also, I'm always taking photos of props and exhibits at museums, and I thought that could be helpful to people as well. One of my favorite travels was to MoPOP in Seattle. Tons of amazing original props I'd never thought I'd get to see.

Hello and I'm glad I found this site! I have taken sewing lessons in the past and have taken a huge interest in upcylcing old denim jackets that I purchase from thrift shops. There are about three to five more I'd like to make. So far, I made a horror movie themed jacket with just a bunch of patches I get from Etsy that's nearly done but I'm always adding! Then another one that is based on my favourite band from the 80's that I've been working on since last year.

I've been a fan of The Lost Boys since it came out in theatres and have always wanted to make Marko's jacket. I've studied all of the items and I figured I'd try to replicate the pieces as best as I can if I can come across any that look remotely similar.

Hello there, everyone!

My name's Pat. I've been a lurker for a bit now, but finally decided to create a profile here.
I've been working in the animation industry for the past 10 years from concept to director.
With the creative kinda thinking came making of various things throughout the years. So now, I'm getting into some prop work.
My main goal here is to make props based on animated productions. We'll see how that goes!

Glad to be a part of a great community!

Good Evening. My Names Stu. Like most on here I've been a long time lurker but feel I'm now at the stage in my hobby where I'll need some people more knowledgeable than I to take my prop making to the next level.
I'm from Scotland and just love making replica costumes. Literally one of the best days of my life was purchasing my first 3d printer 5 years ago.
I've been lucky enough to win a couple of small comic convention cosplay competitions (!) making costumes for my son and daughter. I don't own any screen owned things but would love to at some point.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me before i registered and thanks for any advice after!
