Howdy, all
My name is Dave. I've never been too heavy into prop building until about 17 years ago when people started hitting me up for authentic-looking items to help dress up their Halloween haunts. Mostly because they would see the stuff I made for my own house/yard.
I became fascinated with movie props the very first time that I saw the opening credits for A Nightmare on Elm Street where it showed the razor glove being constructed. Of course, I had to try to make one for myself. It was pretty ambitious for a little kid but it demonstrated to me that I didn't only have to rely on glue together plastic models and licensed toys to get my hands on something that I admired from a particular film.
So, now that I'm ancient, I've been getting back into making things. Generally sticking with the horror props just because they're the most fun for me, but still slipping in an occasional science fiction item here and there.
For the record, Adam Savage (Mythbusters, Tested.COM) is how I was originally made aware of this forum. I look forward to reading and contributing where I can.
Thanks for the add,
Dave
