Hey all! I'm excited to see everyone's work!

I'm from South Dakota so I don't have much in the way of Cons to attend. I've dabbled in some costume making over the past 3-ish years so I'm familiar with techniques and materials, but not so much in handling them. My costume interests focus mainly on foam armor, though I also have some others in mind sans-foam. My main focus for costumes has been Marvel and Power Rangers, as well as some miscellaneous foam builds. A few years back I started an attempt at a Power Rangers Black Dino Thunder costume. I made small progress but it got put on the backburner while school was in session. I would love to finish that costume for sure, as well as start others. I'm super excited to learn from people who actually know what they're doing :)

Hi! I’ve been directed to this site a bunch of different times while looking for all kinds of props and replicas over the years. Decided to make an account and officially join the community!

Hi,

I have been cosplaying and prop making for over 12 years. Mostly as a hobby. I tend to pull from anime, cartoons, and video games.

My skills are but not limited to leather working, wood working, scrollsaw, carving (wood, clay, and foam), some metal working, wood turning, some machining, fiberglass mold making, and graphic design.

I hope to be working on some new projects soon.

Thank you for reading.

Hello all! I just found this site yesterday and am surprised I haven't come across it before. I'm still fairly new into the prop and costume community, working mainly with 3D printing up until lately, and just recently got into sewing and leatherwork. I hope as time goes on I can give back snippets of knowledge I have gathered over the years as well as learn some new tricks/techniques. Thank you so much for having me and I look forward to this community.

Howdy Y'all,

Hi, I am an architectural designer who makes everything and anything in my spare time. Most things somewhat related to architecture/architectural model making/CAD/3d Rendering.
pnqgKOn.jpg

This was a 4'x4' model I made in college, by hand. We weren't allowed to use computers at that point, so I hand drafted ink on illustration board, and hand cut the 4ply museum board. Each piece of the web took about 5 hours, 20 pieces, about 100 hours just to cut out the exoskeleton. I just finished a framing model for a shop not long ago from my laser cutter but haven't got the pictures handy. :(

Here's an example of my digital stuff

I'm just here because I enjoy seeing how people creatively solve problems, and to celebrate our shared love of making.

Cheers!

Hi all, glad to finally be a part of the community, i started building Blade runner blasters back in 2010 and have since gotten into Lightsabers pretty heavily. I've been lucky enough to have access to original props from the sequel trilogy and love the craft behind prop building. I grew up near Lucasfilm in the 80's and 90's and actually got a tour of the old facility in 1990! thanks to everyone for their dedicated love of the craft and for creating such a wonderful online community of builders!

Hi everybody!

I'm Marina, and I've always been interested in prop making, costume making, and stage/FX makeup. I am from North Carolina, and regularly attend comic cons here in Charlotte. I'm considering going to an art school for college so I can continue my passion. I have made a complete cosplay for Isabelle Lightwood from The Shadowhunter Chronicles, have cosplayed as Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff at a comic con, I have made a Loch Ness monster costume for a production I was in last year, and I am currently working on a Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier cosplay for Halloween and for Charlotte Comic Con in December. I also enjoy prop and set making, as well as all sorts of arts such as drawing, painting, etc. Marvel is my favorite franchise to make cosplays for, mainly due to the AMAZING superhero suits and helmets, but also because of the incredibly loving fanbase that I am a part of. Stage makeup is one of my passions, so if you ever have any questions about any of that, feel free to contact me! I am looking for people to follow on here who are passionate about their art forms and fandoms, and I will regularly be updating on my latest projects! Thank you all so much for welcoming me to this community!

Hey everyone, I've been a member for a little bit now and I am always impressed by this community. I have started to dabble in prop making, usually 3d prints. I am a movie theatre owner and love making props and displaying them for people to see. Thanks for allowing me to be apart of this community.

Good luck to everyone in their endeavors

Hi everyone guys! My name is David and I come from the Valle d'Aosta a small mountain region in the north of Italy! Since I was a child I am a huge Star Wars and especially Vader fan! For just under a year I have been trying to make a complete Vader helmet, starting with a plasticine cube! I'm also collecting the parts to get an approved Vader ESB 501. My goal is to try to have an approved costume with my helmet created from scratch!:)

Hello! I'm Dan and I'm from central Wisconsin. For the past few years I've been learning forging and am a hobbyist blacksmith. My goal for forging is creating architectural pieces( railings, gates, doors, etc. ) and decorative pieces. Along with hot forging I've also started learning cold forging by doing things like repousse work( leaves, rosettes, etc ). I've been wanting to get into props for awhile and now that my sons are old enough to start participating we're going to start working on things together.

I have a fairly large shop for forging and woodworking, but as it is not heated I'm forced inside for most of the winter. I'd like to focus on props during the colder parts of the year just to keep my hands busy.

Some mokume gane I made out of some quarters.

I've recently purchased a 3D printer to help with some of my projects. My first goal is to create the Terminator pieces from the Cyberdine vault in Terminator 2 and then possibly the handcuffs from Hudson Hawk. I'll keep everyone posted!

Hi,

My name is Douglas. I live in the UK and professionally I am a jeweller, but as a hobbiest I enjoy making of all kinds. I do a lot of CAD and rapid protyping work along with traditional jewellery techniques, and am starting to learn other kinds of making like sewing and styrene scratch building.

Heard about RPF through tested.com and have a few plans for props that I want to build, so thought this would be a good place to come for ideas and inspiration.

Looking forward to getting involved!

Hi everyone! I'm a game developer by trade who dabbles in electronics as a hobby.

Just recently my daughter has expressed her interest in dressing up for Halloween. I decided to start building a costume for her based on a cartoon character she loves. So far all I have is this:

What is it? It's one part of the backpack worn by the main character of True and the Rainbow Kingdom:

I don't have much experience in costume building but I've been learning a lot from Youtube and from posts found in this forum. I joined because I want to learn more from the experienced members of this community.

Thanks for having me!

Hi
accidentalrebel,
Welcome :)
Is the backpack more or less flat on the back and have some sort of harness to hold it on?
There are many ways to create the main shape.
Some more time consuming and some less expensive.
Will this be a project with her help as well?
Maybe cut and shape foam pieces or old school paper mache using three inflated balloons
(a bit messy but fun).
After dried, cut to the 3 correct shapes, glue or tape together, then paint.....
(maybe start a new thread in the costuming section).

I've actually had good progress on the overall shape of the backpack.

I will make a new thread as suggested to outline my progress.

Hi there, my name is Stephen and i from Scotland.

I have always had an interest in movies mostly but i am looking at possibly collecting various props for a cinema room project, i have not actually started collecting any props whatsoever yet but i think i am in the right place as this site looks fantastic and looks to be full of very creative and dare i say it crazy scientists... i,ve only been here 5 minutes and i already love the place and i cant understand how i have not found the website before as this is not a recent interest of mine.

I found the site while searching for a blast from the past bag and i see that it is discontinued now but with the wealth of info here i think i can re-create it possibly.

Anyway thanks for having me and i,ll see you all around :)

Hello RPF community,

My name is Jordan. I am located in Tampa FL and am in the tech industry. I also do a lot of carbon fiber work on the side and that's what really brought me here. I recently had a cosplay customer that wanted a small EV foam gun molded and made into carbon fiber. I've always wanted to do some cosplay stuff and even attend a few events. However, my past jobs have prevented me from really getting into it. Now that I have a lot more time to do things I want and a nicer workshop, I tend to work on things almost every night. I also come from the show car scene, that's how I fell into making carbon fiber things. I've left the car scene and am following something i've been wanting to do for ages.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing what amazing things this community has made and hope to learn a lot during the process. Maybe even attempt to build something in the near future!

Hope to make some new friends and keep being a kid at heart!
