Hello, RPF Community!

I'm AL, a web developer and sometimes designer from the Midwestern US. I've loved sci-fi and similar genres most of my life, having been introduced to Star Wars, Star Trek, the Alien franchise, Terminator, and Predator by my father. I grew up watching those w/ him, and I've nurtured a particular affinity for Star Wars ever since.

I began collecting in early 2015, starting with statues and busts. I am now moving on to props, and I'm dedicating most of 2016 to finally, finally having the lightsaber collection I have always wanted. I've started out small, but my preference for static hilts has made the barrier to entry much easier. The lightsaber smithing community is turning out to be much bigger than I anticipated, and the complexity of FX / crystal sabers is mind blowing.

Thus far, my collection only includes (bottom to top) a SaberForge Prodigal Son (Luke ROTJ), a Hasbro 2010 Vader, and two toys I've crafted into 'battle relic' props, a $12 2005 Vader and a $9 Saber-Builder Kylo Ren.



I look forward to diving deeper into this hobby, and meeting all the people here!

Hello everyone!

I'm pretty new to prop building/modding and I found this site while trying to mod my black series kylo ren helmet. I'm hoping this will give me a good amount of insight and advice to allow me to put together a first order stormtrooper set up and hopefully get into the 501st (way off from that right now haha). Currently working on a Rubies darth vader helmet.

Really considering resanding and painting seeing as i had the texture entirely wrong.

I've been a big fan of comics pretty much my entire life and really enjoy seeing the costumes at the conventions I attend. I'm interested in joining in the fun of cosplay and was turned on to RPF by my son-in-law. I've been checking out the forum on and off for about a year and figured it was about time to take the plunge. Hi everyone, My name is Andy I'm from London UK. joined the RPF mostly just to say thanks to the member known as NeXXt for their excellent AER9 laser rifle plans that i have been using in my latest project.
About me, I used to be a professional cabinet maker and have worked on a few bits for film and television (also ended up as an extra in a few things) unfortunately i no longer work in that field, But i do still enjoy making things in my spare time, I also like making and editing videos I'll be first to admit I am not the best at it but its mostly for my own amusement and to keep a record of some of the things i make, If you're interested I am currently making a replica of the AER9 laser rifle from fallout I made one last year but i wasn't really happy with it. Hello all! Despite being aware of this site's existence for some years, and despite being a costumer and a cosplayer for even longer, I never got around to joining until, well, five minutes ago! So thank you. I'm Charlemagne, and I've been a costumer and a cosplayer since 2003. I attended university for theatrical and film costume/technical design, though I ran out of funding before I could complete my degree. So close!! I've made costumes from a variety of series and games over the years, and I'm currently plotting two Star Wars costumes, some Dragon Age, and even some Sailor Moon because ah, childhood. I'm planning on posting my most recent effort in the Replica Costumes board here shortly.

Hi everyone! I'm Clint, from around Atlanta. Ever since my soon-to-be wife became passionate about cosplay and propmaking, I've taken a lot of inspiration from the RPF and its members as I work on projects with her, but haven't really had an immediate need to join until recently. There are a lot of gaps in our knowledge base, so I'm really looking forward to getting involved and learning from all you talented folks.

I'd say our best project to-date is her Final Fantasy Lightning costume (below), made with Worbla, MDF, EVA/craft foam, thumbtacks, chewing gum, cat hair and a wide variety of other illicit substances.

This year will mark my second trip to SDCC and I'm trying to get ready. I'm attempting to create a Prometheus SE suit and looking for any suggestions to help make it light weight and breathable and this place has always helped me in the past. I also teach a 3D high school art course and I would like to start incorporating some more "non-traditional" sculpting projects into my curriculum. Not everyone is into pottery... Hopefully this is just the start of some fantastic work!

Hi all. Just joined up after looking over a couple of Wall-E build threads. Love the work people have done and very interested in building a scale Wall-E. I'm about to use mates cnc router and I have lots of tools and done cad drawing and built stuff out of aluminum, steel, plastic before and into building custom computers. Also love anime.
