Hi. New member here but long time prop builder. I have done props for independent films and for a personal hobby for some time. I also have a background in gun smithing and the fields that go along with it. I am attaching some photos of builds I have done in the past. More will be on my profile. Send me any questions you might have! NOTE: Yes the Han Solo DL-44 is actually live fire.

Those are just some of the ones I have made / modified. I also collect Star Wars and Indiana Jones and classic horror props and replicas.

Hi! I'm a 19 year old kid from Sweden. As everyone here I have a big passion for movies and the beautiful things created for them. I, as many others here probably did, found out about this through Adam Savage and the Tested channel. Been looking around for a while and decided to become a member! I don't have a collection of anything YET and I don't build anything YET. Now that I have my first full-time job I thought I'd get started. Going to pre-order the Han Solo DL-44 blaster from ToddsCostumes right now actually. Well that was all for me, feels great being a part of this community!

Hello! Swampbilly here. Ive been in and out of the RPF for years building and acumulating ideas and such. I figured its about time. Ive been a member of the 405th Infantry for many years and some of you on here may know me over there as HELL JUMPER or swampbilly. Hello! Also want to give a shout out to Art Andrews. Whats up!
Ive been building replica props and working mills and lathes since i was 12-13 and just happy to be here. Ive already made friends here too! Hehe. Thanks for the opportunity! See you in the forums!

Hey.
Somewhat new to prop building, but I've been watching from outside for a while. Way back in... 2003?... I did build a pretty sweet lightsaber for a Scout summer camp staff costume. The big kick for doing prop building now was a combination of helping my wife make a Zoya costume (from the video game Trine) for the upcoming Tidewater Comicon and watching a lot of prop building videos on YouTube.
I'll post pictures of the Tine costumes soon (she's still working on the clothing).
Currently working on a short sword for display, based on the lore of a fantasy series that I'm writing. Figure I'll finish this little blade, make up some other character related props, then put them all together in a display box along with the novel.

Hello! :) I am from California and I have been doing some costuming and cosplay for a few years as a hobby. I primarily do Marvel characters and some video game characters. My dream costume builds are a Female Commander Shepard, an Isaac Clarke (Dead Space) suit, and a Halo Spartan (with custom colors). Right now I am working on an Avengers Black Widow suit and a Female Winter Soldier costume.

I love seeing all the creativity on the boards! Stay awesome!!

Hey everyone, I'm new to the group, though I've been a member for about a year I joined around the time the site was hacked an then never came back when the issue was resolved.

At any rate I mostly build replica lightsabers, and actually manufacture the Igniter, Spark Color 2, and Spark 2 sound board, which you can find on my saberigniter site. Here's a video of one of my sabers I recently built using my board:

I've also built and owned an 1985 Trans Am that I converted to look like KITT from Knight Rider, though I sold that in 2013:

My newest desire is to build a BB-8 droid that will follow me around at cons. Thinking of getting the same 3d printer that XRobots uses to build the BB-8 v3, since I don't want to re-invent the wheel when it comes to the physical build.

Hope to be a bit more active now that the site is stable and that I have lots of projects I'd love to do.

Hi everyone, new to the group. Found RPF while doing research for my Poe Dameron pilot costume that I am working on for SDCC. I'm a novice cosplayer and getting into prop building as well. Extremely grateful for everyone sharing their knowledge, it's helped me considerably.

Hello one and all.

Thought I'd introduce myself to this awesome community. I'm a zoo keeper from UK with quite a diverse set of interests. would love to get into the modding and propping scene but I am a total 'newb' but this seems like an excellent place to start getting ideas and techniques to do so. Primarily into the Star wars franchise but have an interest in steam punk and most other sci-fi franchises.

I hope to have a go at a wide range of disciplines such as foam Armour, fiber glass/plastic molding. I tinker around with mechanical/industrial pieces making steam punk accessories working primarily with brass and glass though not to a standard i would like to get too. Would love to create my own FA trooper kit on top of everything else I have a crazy idea in the back of my head to create a steam punk inspired Trooper ensemble but that is way way WAY down the line.

So Its safe to say I'll probably be around a while.

Cheers

MrB

Hi!

My name is Petter, and I'm from Norway where i work as a teacher and exhibition maker in the local university natural history museum. I'm a zoologist by education (so hi to MrB above!). My background as a prop maker is mainly for re-enactment (I do Napoleonic and Roman) and as a long term live action role player. My nickname is from back when I used to do a lot of combat flying simulation, and I'm simply too lazy to invent a new nick. I joined because of all the amazing talent on display in this forum!

Cheers,
Friendly flyer

Hey,

My name is ashley, I am a guy though. I'm a mobile developer, the reason I am here is that I have been interested in an iron man costume. I also, just made a listing of high quality costumes that can be purchased and am planning to publish it, many from custom creators. First though I would like to attempt to make a helmet first to get some experience into how much work is required for a costume such as this since for a few character costumes that I threw in come from instructibles. And I would like to make a better review the effort required on such costumes.

Hello!

Name's Heather. I actually went to university for a degree in marine biology which remains one of my greatest passions, but life had other plans and now I'm working full time in a real estate office and am working on qualifying for my agent's license.

Relevant to why I'm here, I'd much rather be sewing than working in an office (or reading or gaming or writing or...). I've been sewing for over fifteen years, and about ten years ago I decided to start sewing and designing my own RenFaire garb. I was not happy with fabric choices of what you could buy, and I've been chronically money-challenged so sewing my own was easier on the wallet. Over the years since I've really honed my knowledge in skills and fabric choices (please don't ask to see some of the early ones). Even in animated media, there is always a reason for the culture and the styles and that informs what fabrics should be chosen and how they should be treated, dyed, and sewn, and I like to try to bring that into my costuming. While I've been costuming for a while now, I only felt I'd found a project appropriate to these forums (as the RPF seems more geared to live-action productions) when I saw the Force Awakens. I'd never fallen in love with Star Wars before, but that movie grabbed me from the first minute and hasn't let go ever since. I found my way here again while looking for references for a Rey costume, and finally felt like maybe I could fit in.

When I can find a minute or two, I've started designing my own fashion line. I love expressing my nerdy interests all the time, but costumes and printed t-shirts aren't appropriate for far too many settings. My designs are clothes inspired by whatever fandom or geeky love I can think of, but made in a way that no non-fan would notice, and even a fan might need a double-take. Current active projects are a Portal-inspired sundress, Stargate-inspired maxi dress, and a blouse and slacks outfit for work that was sketched out while marathoning Star Trek: TNG during a bad bout of mono.

I'm also pretty long winded, if that wasn't immediately obvious.

Hello All!

I discovered this forum while searching out costuming for post-apocalyptic/Fallout items.

These will be my first attempts at creating props.

Hi everyone! I joined this site on recommendation for possibly finding someone who can create custom Mandalorian helmets for purchase. If anyone could assist me, please message me! Thank you!

Ok then, introduction time.

I'm a 20 year old male from Belgium interesed in: how to make costumes and props (which I can use for cosplay).
I've got nothing to show (yet), but hopefully that'll change soon.
Feel free to ask me anything you want, I won't bite (hard).

Hey everyone,

I am a 25 year old business student who would love to learn how to build props and costumes. I have almost no experience in crafting, however I do have some pretty decent Illustrator and Photoshop skills (not a professional but an advanced hobbyist). Last, but not least, my biggest hobby is magic and perhaps, in the future, I would be able to combine magic with prop making. I guess that are te most important details for now. I look forward to enter the world of prop-making and am excited to start exploring the RPF.

Kind regards,

Neoinwonderland
