Hey all,I'm Ben from just outside London. I am a full time machinist who wants to turn my trade into making nice little trinkets and hand held props for me to be proud of. Mainly weapons and neat trinkets take my fancy so my obvious first start is to make myself a lightsabre. Any other recommendations for me to look at are more than welcome.

Hello all,

I have been poking about this forum for some time. I am a new dad. My son is now 14 months, his name is Lukas (Luke) for short and my daughter Annaleia (Leia) for short is one week old today. I have a kick ass Star Wars nursery with plenty of props and costume pieces. Alas I am missing a Vader lightsaber. I would like to start with a ANH or ESB version preferably that I can customize myself. With two small children I am budget constrained a little. Does anyone have any spare parts for sale? Or perhaps suggestions where to start?

Hello!
I'm new here, obviously, and I am brand new to the world of replica props and costumes! I have never attempted anything, although I do watch videos and spotlights on the subject on a regular basis. I am most interested in Warhammer 40,000 props and costumes, mainly because it is probably one of the most hardcore sci-fi universes out there, and it has a massive, ultra in-depth lore that I study like it's my job! I'm 16, so right now I can't do things like casting and vaccum forming mainly because due to the lack of funds, time, and space, so for now I am focusing on costuming, and other things that require simply hunting down bits and pieces, and so on and so forth! Anyways, I'm glad to be here, and I hope I don't seem like a complete kid among all you adults! I hope to learn as much as I can, and develop my techniques and know-how!

The level of creativity and craftmanship showcased in the forum is absolutely breath-taking. I live in a small town in Germany. My main hobby is paper modeling and I am a HUGE fan of 1978 / 1979's Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers. Hello All
I am looking to build a Massive 5' Millennium Falcon model (pool table light) and look foreward to any and all help and advice/feedback i can get .
by the way Wife is Thrilled not - with this idea, oh well :cool. my initial thoughts are to use led floods on the belly to light the table and of course blue lights for the hyper-drive.
probably a plywood and cardboard hull.
any thoughts ?

Hey there everyone,

I am Joshbot, a long time reader of the RPF. I have made a number of props in the past for stage productions and I am a technical theater student. Most of my work in reproduction work has centered around costumes, but I love all of it all the same.

I don't have any work space, and a tine budget, so I tend to work on small things now and then. I am currently working on a reproduction of the poster of the "Bus" from the television show 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' that appears hanging on the wall behind agent Coulson's desk aboard the CXD-23 Mobile Command Station. I started this yesterday, and just wanted to share.

Please be aware that I know the fonts I am using are not correct. I am using some place holders for now, just to help me with placement. Looks like the handwritten style font is called 'Architext BB' and I have yet to identify the sans font used in the Stark Industries plate in the bottom right, or in the document title in the upper right. I am working from a pretty good scan of what I think is an original created for NYCC. The image I have has no edition number, just a blank space.

As some of you might notice, I made a modification to correct what i feel was an error in where the "Tailwing" connects under the "horizontal stabilizer." Additionally, I am going to leave off the Marvel logo, and the edition numbering. Here is my work so far.



I am always very impressed by all the stuff other people are doing.

Claire the newb here. Several people have pointed me to the RPF as 'the' community to be part of. So here I am, happy, excited, a bit nervous - It's been a long time since I ventured into the online forum world!

My Mum was a costumer (as well as a dancer and fire-eater), so my childhood was pretty much a costuming apprenticeship, lol. And my dad was a magician, so i grew up around a lot of sparkles, costumes and props of one variety or another. My sister and I both strangely went into 'sensible' careers, she a lawyer, me a project manager and systems developer, but now I find myself coming full circle and back in the sandbox of costume making ~ and loving it!

So hi there, I'm really looking forward to taking a look around, enjoying gawking at all the incredible work everyone is doing, and if you want any help on the sewing front, just let me know, I'm happy to share any tips & advice I can - I know I'll be coming to you for help, thoughts and opinions
