Hello! Long time lurker, finally joined the forum ^^ I'm used to sewing my own cosplays, but building props is a new area for me. A big thank you to all the helpful tips and patterns in the pepakura forums and those dedicated souls cataloging screen accurate details from the Marvel movies, in particular :D

Hi, My name is Ricky and live in Maine. I am recently disabled, and have way too much time on my hands. I have recently became a huge fan of CW "Arrow". I have been into archery for the better part of 10 to 15 years. I shoot target with a recurve and a traditional bow so this show I thought was awesome! Having neck and spinal issues I have been considering getting a compound bow but after seeing the show, a Oneida Kestrel is top priority! I saw the acrylic case he stores his bow and arrows and may have something similar made. Maybe wood or Acrylic? I did a search but could not find anything about that case, just the case that Felicity gives to Oliver at the start of season 2. If anyone has any information or better pictures of the clear case I would appreciate it. I am very excited to be here! Thank you so much.

Kindest Regards,

Ricky

Hello the community. My name is Franck and I live in France near Paris.
I'm here because I have an event next june and I'm working on a tron costume. So this forum seems to be a good source of inspiration because i'm a beginner in this domain.
My main job is the research and development in electronics systems (hardware engineer) like wireless barcode laser readers etc. so I'm better for the electronics than to sew xD
voilà :)

Hi all. I'm Ethan, and I'm from Dayton, OH. My friends and I sident a lot of time building Ghostbusters costumes that we've been improving the past few years. For Halloween 2015, the plan is for a group of us to be colonial marines from Aliens. I've been 3D printing a bunch of my props, and plan to do the same for the Aliens gear. If the quality is up to snuff, maybe sell a few pieces eventually.

A lot of this slime blower (and my ecto goggles) was 3D printed

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone! I just started working for McMaster-Carr, where I get everything we sell at cost, so I figure now is the perfect time to get into making all the stuff I think is awesome, which is pretty much everything forever. I've known about RPF for years, a few of the guys I used to be part of Dewback Squadron with were really active here many years ago. I now have 501st legal stormtrooper armor that I have to fix up. I'd like to make a Mass Effect suit, an Iron Man suit, and random other things right off the bat. Looking forward to meeting everybody and seeing all of your projects!

Hey Tommaso, That would be the ultimate car! I love that show and that car! I dig through the "Uncle Henry`s" which is a local print paper in Maine to find a 67, they also have a website. Also look in Craigslist but everything in the Northeast is rotted out because of all the salt they put down in the winter. Check the southern states on Craigslist. I have found a couple but they were already restored and wanted a lot.

Hello Everyone!

I knew from some friends that The RPF had a few Facebook Groups... but OMG this website just opened my eyes to a whole new world!! ^o^

I'd love to become a part of this great community and learn/offer anything and everything I can!

To begin I'm a self-taught prop maker (wannabe haha) and just recently brought my items to the public at Phoenix Comicon 2013 and Tucson Comicon 2014 and have had opened the floodgates to cosplayers and prop builders alike! I had no idea the following I would get, I was making props that I thought were cool... stuff that I wanted to hang on my own walls- but hot dang a lot of people seemed to like the same things I did haha! :D

I'm a guy of many trades: from 2-Dimensional CAD Design, Graphic Deisgn (Comic Book Colors/Illustrations/Business Cards/Logos), Photo Manipulation, Jewelry Design, Metalworking and Leatherworking to name just a few.

But being a metalworker (full time job at a family owned machine shop) all of my props/cosplay's are solid metal (mainly aluminum for the lightweight ability, beautiful polish and ease of working/bending/finishing... but I do get into steel, stainless steel, wood, acrylic, polycarbonate as well when applicable).

I mainly take my work home with me (once the 10+ hour M-F day job ends) and work out of my garage at home in hot as heck Arizona... so sometimes my builds can take some time, but I'm diligent and juggle as much as I can take :)

Below are some of my most recent builds, and again I offer fully custom works/designs and am always looking to help others out and as well learn as much as I can :D

Feel free to contact me for anything- and I look forward to being a longtime member of this beautiful community!

Thanks So Much For Having Me!!!

-Matt "Smitty Tut" Smith

Hello Everyone,
So I actually heard about this website from a photo posted on a social media website (It was a set of Iron Man armour in its early stages of being made and there was a link to this site). I liked what I saw and thought, you know I could probably make my own props and armour instead of paying ridiculous sums of money for someone online to do it for me.
I'm currently studying engineering (although I'm taking a year off) and since I'll have some extra time on my hands I may as well do something I know I'll enjoy.
I'm always willing to chat so feel free to drop me a line at anytime :)
Thank you for having me, sincerely,
CanAus95

Hello all! long time lurker, mostly on the 405th since i mainly build halo-related props (same name). I'm a full time student studying mechanical engineering so I'm only make props as a hobbie during my spare time. I can't thank this community enough for all the help i've received during my builds. Thanks for having me!

Hi
My name is Luis from Costa Rica.
Have been a long time member of the 501st legion but this is my first time in this amazing group.
Your work is AWESOME!!!

Hi all

My name is Sam from Raiju Cosplay, I'm new to cosplay and to making props.
I'm from South Africa, and I hope to improve my crafting skills by learning from everyone in this forum

Hello!

My name is Cassandra and I found this website by accident when I was looking up tutorials and reference photos for Vash's gun from the anime Trigun.
I haven't made anything yet and have zero skills for building props and making cosplays thus far, but I want to!

Hi all. Wound up here through a link on Facebook and a search for Destiny cosplay. I'm completely new to this type of costuming (SCA for 20 years) and am looking forward to learning and wearing my work at future con's. I've been around cons since '76 (yes really) but only now looking at actually making my own costumes. Can hardly wait to see what people have done and become part of the community.

Hihi,

Longtime cosplayer, occasional writer. Wandered over here after hearing great things about this site as a resource for costume-making and prop-building.

Main fandom is currently Doctor Who, but I'm also a LARPer of various genres which means I'll costume and prop all over the historical/fantasy spectrum. It's great fun.

For the morbidly curious my costumes may be seen at http://www.skaro.com

I'd love to learn more about building, well, everything but given that I can't assemble an Ikea bookshelf without assistance, it's going to be a big learning curve... :)

Cheers,
- Johanna

Hey I'm Dylan and I'm currently trying to get a screen accurate Kill Bill bride's katana, any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way I am also a knife maker

Yo!

My name's Chris, I've been a long time fan of the RPF and I thought I might aswel finally sign up! I'm an amateur cosplayer/prop designer, found my way here after SomethingWicked Cosplay told me where he found his Spidey lenses a while ago! Looking to build up a friendship with everyone here :D

Hello all! I've been reading and viewing the posts on this website for 2 or more years now and I want to show off my "moves" if you will. Love Daft Punk! Love VolpinProps (Harrison Krix) work! Jurassic park Fan of the movie and my dream build is the Ford Explorer Tour Car from it. One of very few Making my dream come true is Scoodidabop! Love the crystal skull, terra nova, Assassin's Creed!

As requested...

Hi I'm Malcolm aka HammyDribbler. I guess you could say that cosplay is my mid life crisis and having now taken the plunge at a con last year (first Con and first costume) I am totally addicted.

Went with a simple family setup from Gravity Falls (Stan, Dipper and Wendy) but I have now purchased a shed and a million power tools, knives and dremels to hit the hard stuff.

Currently working on Sif (Thor), Gir (Invader Zim) and Doctor Doom all for next year (LSCC in March).

Not going to lie... I haven't got a clue what I am doing... but I am having a bloody good laugh doing it :)

Big love to everyone on The RPF. Already learnt loads for here including the exciting world of Pepekura and hot glue (glueing annoyingly small pieces of card to your already burnt fingers).

So far I have tinkered with:

Pep
Fibreglass Mat
Epoxy Resin
EVA Foam
5 different glues (No Barge in the UK)
Some car filler as we don't have Bondo in the UK

Stay young!

Ham out.
