Hello All!

I've always been a big fan of Star Wars and still have my toys from my childhood stored deep in my basement.

My next-door neighbor finished a screen accurate Ghost busters Proton Pack he had been working on for several years a couple of months ago.

Inspired me to build a DL-44 Blaster, just started the process of hunting down the DL-44 CastKit and the reproduction Denix revolver. Hope to start sometime in February. Look forward to finding some good advice when I start up the project.

Wife thinks I'm having a midlife crisis, haven't been this excited about a project in years!
Glad to be on!

Hi! First post here.

My name is Jake, I'm a 23 year old Mechanical Engineering student at University of Illinois at Chicago. I came across this site while searching the internet for Iron Man costume ideas.

This past Halloween I went as Tony Stark (pic related) and it was a hit! I realize its a pretty weak costume, just an arc reactor and a suit/facial hair, but people liked it nonetheless. For next year, I decided I wanted to go really hard, and make parts of the MKVII for next year. I have some ambitious goals, but I think it'll be manageable. I'm glad I found this site, I'm sure I'll be here a lot!

Hi Everybody,

Thanks for having me, its a pleasure to be amongst such creative people.

I have a large scale Batman related project, and could really use some advice from those more experienced with creating large scale multi piece mold, as I am only familiar with small scale one and two piece prop production.

Basically, I own the surviving Gargoyle from Batman 89. In the movie, it sits on top of Gotham Cathedral and Jack Nickelson hangs his coat on it.
I trained as a Draftsman at Pinewood, and wish to crate a replica of this very old, very heavy, very fragile, 25 year old prop, to give back to the studios to display.

So I need to create a multi piece fiberglass mother mold. Can you guys help? I guess my first question would be how to split it up? three parts, four? Along what lines? Where, and why? Could somebody direct me to the right thread to post pictures and talk in more detail about this project?

Cheers

Hello All,

I have only been a member for a short time, but have been working interdependently on costumes for most of my life. I have mainly done costumes & weapons for my kids and friends, but have now expanded to larger full size projects. I am mainly a paper pep guy, due to the face I have a detailed background in resin and casting.....so I am a very detailed, almost over the top on my projects.

I am a huge fan of the Marvel Universe, but now have moved into some historic style foam costumes such as elf leather look armor. If you have any feedback or ideas please let me know.

Thank you

I guess I should finally get around to posting here... only took what, four years? I joined up when reg opened back in 2010, right before I contemplated building a full t-48b powerarmor suit from Fallout, which, I did... It's "finished" [aka when I have time to faff about and the weather is behaving I need to keep detailing it and working out some of the kinks.] Used this place as a massive repository of knowledge on how to make parts from nothing. Big into cosplay, or was rather back when I still had time in the year to attend conventions, now that's taken up with being a vendor at my local renaissance fairs. I still make things, however. The ability to just tell my printer to 'print' an object I've wanted and let it do it's thing whilst I continue to work is rather handy. Latest project which is almost finished [just waiting on some electronic parts to show up in the post] was a pip-boy 3000 from fallout. Which, when and if I get there, I'll likely post up a run in the market.

I have no idea what my next project will be, though it will likely be Fallout related, or, at this rate, metro 2033. Thanks for having me back in 2010, and keeping my account, even if it was just a lurker for all these years.

Hi everyone,
My name is Shawn and I of stumbled upon this site randomly, which is awesome because I'm a mandalorian merc. I am nearly finished building my Boba Fett styled bounty hunter suit and have built a gonk droid. I usually just mess around in the Star Wars universe, but I'm interested in building other props from other fandoms. If you are a Star Wars fan please check out A Star Wars Life. It is a twitter, blog, youtube, etc group I am building all about Star Wars and the community/universe that is the fandom. Glad to be here and see all the awesome creations!

Hello people of the interwebs,

I am about to build a boba/ jango fett armor out of fiberglass. I am sure i could use some advice from experienced members. I am verry happy that i found a place to share and comunicate with other prop builders :).

Hello boys, girls and others!

I'm a Sr Sound Designer by day and a secret amateur artist by night. I don't use costumes or suits but I do use pens, markers, spray cans, computers, 3D printers, clay, resin, knifes and other hand tools to fight the lack of art in the galaxy. Now a proud part of this here brother- and sisterhood of Guardians of The Props!
Now I must go and collect my weapons for yet another nightly raid. See you around...

Greetings from germany,

I´m totally new in this field, but hopefully I can get around to manufacture some of this amazing stuff (petty that all this wasn´t around 10 years earlier)
Hoping to learn and be amazed by you guys

Hi !

My name is Helene, and I found this forum while I was looking for ideas to make Harry Potter's item. English is not my mother tongue, and I apologise for the misspeaking : I am French and we are not known for our skills in foreign languages.

I think it's ok to say that I am a really big fan of Harry Potter, since I've run a website of Role Play Game about Hogwarts for 5 years and I've created an association helping the Potterhead community to lead their projects. I also recently made my own version of the Monster Book of Monsters !

My husband and me are also fans of Doctor Who : he built me a dvd-librairy-TARDIS for my birthday !! I am looking forward to smaller items I could do for him.

hello all. Im a texas based builder/prop maker/ fabricator....I will be posting alot of progress pics of my replications and hoping to learn a few new things from the talent here!

Hey everyone!
I'm Chris from Atlanta. I'm pretty new to prop making so I figured joining the rpf would be a great way to network and learn new skills and check out some awesome work.
I'm a member at the dented helmet and the mandalorian mercs, which is how I found out about this site. Currently I'm working on my custom mandalorian armor, so I'll be posting that, probably followed by a bunch of questions soon!

where to start! well, my name is Josh and I'm from the awesome state of NC!
Whew! been meaning to make an intro post for quite a while now but never did as my project quest petered out due to lack of any real reference photos. But im back now, and with even more determination because of my local con coming up next year.

A little background on me.
I've always been a big fan of movies and anime shows, and making props and replicas from them has attracted my attention for some time but I always thought you needed a huge workshop and thousands of dollars worth of tools to build anything worth holding. But with the invention of Instagram, I found lots of people who build amazing props in there garage! So, I started learning everything I could about making quality props and... Ended up here!

Hi guys! My name is Mike and I am from California. Currently I am the owner of a small Video game company. I have been a fan of models almost my entire life. I have been lurking around the RPF for a long time and its finally time to come out of the shadows and play with the group. I really LOVE what everyone is doing here and I hope to be able to share some of my projects with you guys as well!

Josh here from southern Indiana in the process of building my first cosplay. A Mando merc outfit. I have fiberglass experience. and thats the route i am going first. I also build weapons out of nerf guns

Hi everyone! My names Andrew, I am obviously new here, and relatively new to costuming. I live in Houston, TX, have a great love for the whole Star Wars franchise, along with Marvel, and a hint of DC(mostly the Batman series).

I recently got my approval for my TK build, and am looking into venturing more into the world of Foamsmithing and crafting my own costumes of course, for myself and my whole family.

I am hoping my TK build serves me well in costuming, and am really looking forward to getting the ball rolling on Foamsmithing.

Hey, I'm Rob. Based in Roanoke VA, and I've been a lurker here for nearly 5 years. I'm currently building my first replica piece (Halo 4 Battle Rifle) over on the 405th, which is getting fairly positive feedback so I'm thinking of cross-posting it here (I put the RPF on a bit of a pedestal). Currently deliberating options for the next piece, too.

Build interests are video games primarily from 2000-2008, and general comic/scifi/fantasy IPs, like most here.

hi my name is Carlo, I am 17 and am a fan of star wars for many years, I hope to be of assistance.
