Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone, I just joined yesterday. First things first...what ya'll do on here is freaking awesome!!! I couldn't believe how talented the members are here and its quite amazing after reading a few threads when you come together to tackle projects (referencing jackieisrockin's Iron Patriot thread!!). Just to tell how I got to this site is as follows....I'm in the military and every year that I am not deployed I volunteer as a camp counselor for a week long muscular dystrophy camp ifor kids in NC. Every year a different theme is chosen for the week. This year's theme was super heroes. I convinced my brother to buy an Iron Man costume and I bought the Iron Patriot. (I have more pics of the two of us with kids so if you would like to see them I'm more than happy to share, please just ask) Needless to say we completely stole all of the kids attention away from the other costumes which were batman, batgirl, wonder woman, captain america, and a couple spiderman variants. The response from the kids was beyond words and I wanted to improve the costume for next year's cameo appearance so I started researching about led discs for the hands and one thing led to another when I came across the legendary armor crafter...STEALTH...on youtube. After watching a few of his videos I got bitten by the bug and am determined to build my own Iron Patriot foam armor. I figure this will be an easier beginner project to take on rather than paper. I really admire everyone's ability to construct these suits and am looking forward to becoming involved. I would greatly appreciate any tips, hints, advice or just if you want to say hi. Right now I am trying to search for a way to scale the armor to my dimensions so if anyone could send me a link to a tutorial or help me out I'd greatly appreciate it. I am 5'10, 170lbs. Have a 43in chest and about a 32 waist. I have already downloaded the pep files and am itching to input the scaling so I can get my templates printed. Hope everyone is having a good day and looking forward to talking with you.

Thanks,
Chris

Hello all! My name is Jerib. I go by Jub Jub or Jubster. I am new to the world of pepakura and cosplay. I just finished building the Iron Man mark III helmet and will post photos of that shortly. I am currently working on the mark 42 helmet. I'm also helping my dad make a Mandolorian helmet because he loves the Beskar'gam. I'm finishing up my final year at Oklahoma State University. I just got married and I love my beautiful wife. She is also interested in Cosplay and may join this site at a later date. I love Star Wars, Iron Man, Marvel comics and DC comics. I love movies, music and books. So yeah! That's a little bit about me. If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I will get back to you when I have time! See you all on the forum boards!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi I've been lurking the site a couple of weeks, signed up a few days ago. I'm a 3d animator/modeler by trade, but in my free time I still enjoy getting my hands dirty with physical sculpting. Seeing some of the amazing stuff here is motivating me to start a project myself when I get some down time.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello, im Alexander 34 Years old. Im a great Star Wars Fan and member of the 501st Legion/ German Garrison. I am working at the moment on a ESB Darth Vader costume, which is nearly ready. And in the Future im going to build me a Tie Pilot Helmet by myself. I got already 2 Tie Helmets and a complete Tie Pilot costume. But i want a screen accurate Tie Helmet, made of an RS Stormtrooper Faceplate and an X-Wing Helmet cast made from a real APH6 Helmet. And in my free Time im building Star Wars Modelkits and update them to little ´Screenused´looking props! :)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings everyone! My name's Alan. I've been a member here for over a year and a few weeks ago, I've just started to get to posting. :$ Anyway, I'm big on all the Marvel movies; Iron Man is definitely my favorite followed by Thor. :D

I'm also a Saints fan, which is how I mysteriously got into costuming, odd I know, but my friend and myself attend home games as black and gold versions of Thor and Iron Man respectively. :D I also like metal and play drums. Peace!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi. I was just hanging out on my day off and started looking through my Amazon account and saw a pre-order offer for Star Trek Into Darkness that included a Phaser replica. So...very unlike me...I splurged and ordered it. That got me looking at other Star Trek items and led me to an ebay offer that somehow led me here. I've never really done cosplay but have always wanted to. I'm not good at sewing or crafting costumes and since I'm a highly detailed person I've never pursued it. I went to my first cons this year and have decided to just relax and try to have some fun. So here I am:)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Completely missed this thread.

I've been lurking here for a while and decided to join. Hoping to do a Dredd 3d outfit, but struggling to find the time at present.

Lot of talent on this board. Sometimes it's almost overwhelming!

Still, gonna give something a go and see what happens.

:D

found you guys from the awesome tested.com, i'm looking forward to reading through the forums.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

So I was trying to remember if I ever posted here, and I don't think I did, so here we go.

My name is Matthew (Annaerullo is a Quenya rendering of the Hebrew meaning of that name). I enjoy many geeky things. I'm an enormous Star Wars fan, a Browncoat, a Whovian, a Trekkie, an aspiring Tolkien Scholar, an Achiever (The Dude Abides), and several other fandoms not really worth nitpicking in the present post. I first came across this forum a few years ago, and finally joined about 8 or 9 months ago, and have been lurking and enjoying everyone else's work in the meantime.

I made a film-quality (not screen-accurate, but nice) generic Jedi costume for the Episode III midnight show at my local theater, and had an absolute blast making and wearing it. Since then, I haven't done a whole lot, but I have been wanting to get back into it. For me, the most fun part of it all is making the props. I love the costuming part, too, but for me, the costume--and the character--is all about the equipment. My lightsaber was made out of plumbing parts and pieces from hardware and sporting goods stores, but people still remark at how realistic it looks. . . .That's just my favorite. :D

So I have some more ideas for costumes, and their associated props, but I'm starting with Iron Man Mark IV, in Pepakura cardstock and fiberglass resin. I'm just starting, but soon I'll post a WIP thread to show everyone how it's going. I love the cameraderie on this forum and in the community in general, and I really want to join in and add to that. I hope to impress at least most of you; my ideas sometimes get the better of my abilities, but, that's what this place is for, cooperation and support.

Cheers to you all. See you around the threads....

Names Josh, and I live in Calgary, Alberta. I've worked in our premier haunted house attraction for 9 years, and also worked in the shop for a few years building the props and costumes. Costuming and fx make up is a huge passion of mine. built a Deadpool costume (i know he has been over done, but I care not for that) for our Comic Expo, and have build various personal themed costumes, i/e/ Post Apoc and stuff like that. I'm working on a Capt Mal costume for Halloween, and I'm thinking a Jayne costume for my son next.

I'm Peter, I live in the UK. I have been looking over this site for months and decided to join. I am planning on making the mark VI iron man suit but I have been viewing loads of other peoples suits and am even more inspired to make mine and if it turns out well I will move on to the mark 8/42.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone, I've been reading through these forums for quite some time now and figured it was time to make an account. As far as props go, I enjoy those from older sci-fi like Star Wars/Trek, 2001 a Space Odyssey, Alien, etc. where the props were created from everyday materials. Im also a big fan of the Tolkien mythos and spent a few years in high school trying to learn the elvish languages Quenya and Sindarin and video games such as Legend of Zelda, Dsouls, Elder Scrolls etc.

My own personal collection is fairly small as I am currently in college and is comprised of mostly Star Wars toy sets, lightsabers etc. Right now I'd say the "coolest" thing I have is a replica Vader lightsaber signed by David Prowse and I'm looking to purchase a replica storm trooper suit.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

As a kid I loved all things Gerry Anderson - from Stingray to Thunderbirds to Space 1999. As an adolescent Star Wars, Alien, Blade Runner all fed my insatiable appetite for futuristic industrial design, and the realistic future look.

Over the years I built some models, but like many it would appear did not have the time to pursue it as a hobby - until now.

Finding the RPF and its community of unbelievably talented members is a true inspiration, and I hope to give something back - particularly to Studio Scale and General Modelling - what I can.

Its great to be on board.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi,
Been looking around this site for a long time at all the fantastic builds and thought it was time to try my hand at making some stuff. I've been a film/comic/TV/book fan of sci-fi for a long time. Made some things in the past but nothing of any note. The community on hear is very helpful and thought it was about time i tried to add to the wealth of awesome.

So re-watched district 9 the other day and that got me thinking. The weapon designs are excellent and these inspired me to try my hand at making a district 9 inspired gun based on a Nerf gun. Thought i would start with that as base and work up from there as its my first attempt at a full scale prop. Will post some pics up when Ive started to get into the build.

cheers

Hyas all. My name is Gary aka "Shai`tan" at The Hunters Lair. Do believe I have a few friends here who are prop peeps. Have done a few movie accurate Aliens Vrs. Predator props some years ago that seem to still be enjoying popularity. Dropped out for awhile and lately decided to jump in and try my hand again. Might even branch out alittle. Good to be here. ;p

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi,

Name's Will. I've been lurking for a while but finally decided to get active a couple weeks after making my largest prop purchase ever. I'm planning on converting a '67 Impala in to a screen accurate version of the car from the show Supernatural. I've also done a number of small personal projects, but nothing anywhere near as good as the stuff I've seen here over the last few weeks.
This place is great, and it looks to be a really solid community. I hope I can contribute something of value during my stay.
