Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey y'all

I just stumbled across this sight while researching for a Gipsy Danger costume me and a friend preparing to build. As of yet, I haven't done any sort of costume crafting, though not for lack of interest

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey all :D
I too have been around here for some time, but was never really sure about joining. Lately though I have heard and seen so many cool things coming out of this forum I finally did it. Also, I have been wanting to try my own hand at building and sculpting, so what better place to be. I have been collecting for over 30 years, some of you may know me from Michael-Myers.net (don't hold that against me :facepalm), under the name Myers N San Diego. I have a passion for Horror, Sci Fi, Action and Superheroes. I just recently got bitten by the Badge Collecting bug. Luckily I have a girlfriend who is WAY into this stuff just as I am. I'm looking really forward to sharing my collection with you and seeing all of the amazing things you all have. I am happy to be here!
Thanks for having me
Nick :cool

Hi, I'm ML, from the UK.

I'm fairly new to Cosplay, but I do enjoy the process of designing and building them. Mainly into comic book related cosplays, but have only had time to do a few.

My first real one was a Military take on the New Excalibur Captain Britain Costume. This got me 3rd place at the Northants International Comic Expo (N.I.C.E) last year:

For MCM Brum, I went low key as the first appearance of the new Scarlet Spider:

For the N.I.C.E this year, I'm hoping to improve my Cap B cosplay, as the previous helmet was signed by Alan Davis, so I'd rather not get that messed up. I'm also working on a better, full scale Scarlet suit for MCM London. Will undoubtedly post pictures in the relevent sections throughout the builds.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

hey everyone, found out about this site because of Adam Savages show on Tested. Always been a Maker and now I really love designing and making insignificant props

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all I have been on here for awhile, but never posted so I am a newbie. I belong t the 501st and looking at expanding my horizons into other areas. Going to be working on a Merc setup, and want to do others like SpaceBalls, Ironman, and others.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone my name is Adam. Im a sophomore in high school and work lighting sound and set design in my school. Our theather program has been said to be as professional as collage programs and i would have to agree :D I love movies and plays and have always just loved making things, Ive only ever made one prop in my life for a Aladdin show i designed and did lights sound and all props on (only one big prop that we actually had to make everything else was stuff we had laying around.) I found out about this site from Tested.com. Defiantly looking forward to my first build and already thinking of some i might wanna do! Thanks for reading!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello, I've been brought here from the various videos on Tested.com. I've never actually done any prop building or anything. Just really interested in reading and commenting on the various projects. Who knows though, maybe I'll end up getting roped in as well?

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone. I did an introduction post a few years ago when I first joined, but then life took over for awhile and I just recently came back to the site. I've been interested in props and special effects for a few years and love trying to work out the practical effects while watching movies. I really enjoy woodworking and I would like to try my hand at replicating prop weapons through wood carving. If anyone has any experience with this and has tips or a recommendation of tools I need to get started, it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I guess it's about time I introduced myself here too. :) My name is CK Stratford, I'm starting up a film business called Hawc Productions, and thanks to the inspiration of the webseries "Fallout: Nuka Break" I'm starting my own webseries on YouTube as well (also based off of the Fallout series, & more specifically Fallout: New Vegas). My series is called Fallout: Light of New Canaan, or FLoNC if you want to search for it.

I'm funding the first season of FLoNC myself, and even being a waiter/manager at a local restaurant AND a college student at Dixie State University I think I did decent on my pilot episode of the series (Fallout: Light of New Canaan - 01x00 - YouTube). Well, I believe "the best way to get ahead is to help someone else move forward" so if you need any help, just ask! Even if I personally can't help maybe I know someone, it doesn't hurt to ask! :)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello Everyone!

I'm Stephanie and I like to create! I am slowly pushing my sewing skills for costume making (and other clothes). I am a thrifty costume maker, and am great at gathering/altering pieces to make costumes. I love comic conventions and renfaires! :) I am currently working on our Halloween costumes for this year (my husband and I) and am looking for ideas on getting things done, or someone who can help me out with them (I love to learn!).

So, that being said, I live in sunny Southern California and I have a super long list of hobbies :)

My costume this year is Lilith from Borderlands, and my husband is looking to be a Grammaton Cleric (how I found this website!).

All the best- xx Stephanie

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi, spent a few weeks lurking on this forum trying to learn as much as possible about pepakura costumes. I'm mainly interested in Star Wars costumes but having kids means I will probably be jumping into other areas. I figure it is much better to make a costume with the kids than just buy something that looks awful.

I live in the UK, main interests are writing and performing music, watching movies (obviously) and a bunch of other stuff.

Hope to speak to some of you soon.

Neil

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone I am new to the rpf. I just wanted to introduce myself. I have always loved comics and this year finally got the opportunity to go to a comic convention. I made my own costume and I am looking forward to learning more on costume building as it has become my new found hobby. Thanks everyone.

here is me at Boston Comic-Con 2013:

Went as my interpretation of the New 52 superboy combined with the young justice version.
The S is foam covered in vinyl so are the shoulder pieces and neck pieces. As I said I am new to making costumes. I am hoping to get better and gain more knowledge.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi All:

I am currently working in Afghanistan so started watching Youtube at night for something to do. COMICON videos led me to Adam Savage and "Tested"., I have been a fan of Myth Busters for a long time. I have been a long time fan of props and Sci-Fi being an original series Star Trek fan (black and white on TV at the time!) I do a bit of artwork, painting and large scale papermache, woodworking and some carving. Overseas work only allows me to scetch ideas since I have so little time in my workshop in Texas. I am both a Logistician (Ex US Army Officer) and a Professional Antiquities and Military Antique Dealer. This gives me some unique insight into prop weapons. Adam Savage has lead me to this site and I can already feel the creative juices flowing. I want to build large scale dirrigibles and some props. You all act as a muse to me. As a later bloomer in prop reproductions but not making, thanks for being here and thanks for letting me tag along.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone! I've been mulling about this place for a week now and decided it was time to introduce myself. I've been making costumes for about nine years now, though more for myself than others. I'm about to begin my first silicone sculpture and have already found some incredibly helpful advice here. This place is really full of kind people. No many artists are willing to share their 'secrets'. :) Anyhoo, it's nice to be here and I hope we all get to share more soon.

Cheers!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi All,

My name is Mike. I'm a 27 yr old graphic designer from Fall River, MA. Just joined today, but have been looking at all the marvelous work everyone has been doing for a few weeks now.

I am currently in early stages of making an Iron Man Mark VI suit. I really hope it turns out the way I would like it to. I must say I keep looking at all of Stealths in depth videos for guidance.

Please feel free to say hi, or give me some creative feedback.

thanks!
