Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I'm new to the board. But I joined because I'm working on my first Han in carbonite full size replica. I've got the full face piece ordered and I'm hoping for some great insights on making the volvo panels as accurate as possible without breaking the bank!!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi-I'm Clay and I live in Las Vegas. I finally joined after a year or so after following a few costume tutorial threads. (Namely pep armor.) I'm very interested in pepakura and other media used for various costumes but mostly sci fi armor so I can actually create/scale from my own designs/models.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey Everyone!

My name is Jason and i'm UI/UX designer by day and by night I am a scale model hobbyist! I mostly work on things that are sci fi related or video game related.
I hope to meet many great modelers/prop makes!

I am currently working on a Mass effect sculpt of shepherd.

Hi everyone,

My name is Mat and I am from Wymondham in the UK. I am a SQL DBA Specialist by trade but stumbled upon the RPF quite a few times whilst looking for Star Trek related props. Found some very good articles and posts on here that have been really inspiring.

Glad to have joined and hope to make some posts soon.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey chaps!
I just joined this forum mainly because I could need some help on my Bane mask. I figured I'd do a clay design, then cast it somehow, then use latex in the cast. Sounds simple yes? But I haven't ordered any material yet, because I'm very unsecure about if I could pull it off.
I could use some help and ideas on how to cast the mask, if I should do plaster or fiberglass? This is the first time I make a mask. Hopefully there's someone out there who's got some kind of experience of this.

Regards! :)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone, name's Bryan. I'm over on the East coast kicking it with my wife and four kids. I've been on and off the form for a while, even went and made an account a while back. But do to moving and the birth of my forth kid I wasn't able to get back on and say hi.

I've just gotten back in to making costumes, mainly I've made them for Cosplaying at con and few holiday if I think of anything good.

I've done a lot of this and that, but my wife says I'm a freak when it comes to sewing. I think that's due to the time I made a dress shirt and jacket with no pattern, and had never made one be for. Only thing I had to work from was an old dress shirt I had, I figured out the jacket by mixing what I learned for the shirt with my jean coat. They didn't turn out too bad for only four hours of work. Got to love day be for the con rush.

My current list of projects I have going now. Would be my zombie costume I've been working on for two years now. I've just started planning a Cobra Commander costume and my eldest wants to do a Halo costume so I'll be working on that with him once he figures out what he wants to be from halo.

Well look forward to talking to all of you.

Oh and if someone knows where I can find a Cobra Commander Helmet Pep file please send me a message. I know I saw some on the form some place, but I've lost the bookmark I had for it, and now I'm having no luck finding it again.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all,

I should have joined this forum a long time ago. I'm an engineer that is a Star Wars fan, and a fan of anything technical. I've always been interested in how things work, digging things like blueprints and diagrams. I really like seeing old behind-the-scenes photos of the sets and crew of Star Wars movies. It's interesting to figure how they made sets and did special effects in the '70s and '80s. Watching the Star Wars movies as a kid, I gotta say I was much more intrigued by the flashing lights and tech that went into the sets more than I cared about the movie characters.

So anyway, I am building a Star Wars movie set in my den. I like the "future space" look of the Star Wars architecture that artist Ralph McQuarrie was able to conceptualize for George Lucas. It is more beautiful than the typical copycat early American & Colonial architecture and furnishings that we live in daily in our homes. So I picked one room in my house to surround myself with McQuarrie / Lucas inspired pieces.

So far I have built (or am still building) these:

* Star Wars-style split doorway, with a control panel, LED lights throughout
* A box to support a computer, LED lighted with a red Rebel logo on it
* A platform with lighted edge, similar to the orangey steps in the carbon freezing scenes
* A chair mat with an Imperial logo, LED lighted from underneath
* An 8-foot long computer desk with a shelf above, decorated with Millennium Falcon controls
* A window covering, closely resembling the Millennium Falcon window grid
* Wall details, all the way around the room it's Death Star hallway walls
* Tile walkway on the floor, reminds me of the walk grids on the ship floors

I have only posted one thread with several construction photos so far, and have been AMAZED at the helpful responses. Thanks. See my thread below...

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey there, I'm Chris. I'm a karaoke dj in South Carolina. I got into prop building with Star Wars. I started with Fett over at the Dented Helmet. After a couple years of building various props/costumes, I boxed my action figure displays and decided that my home only needs to display life sized replicas!

I had to join the RPF when I saw the Death Star wall thread. I built something similar (although in a much more amateur and inexpensive way) earlier this year.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone, My name is Dave but my friends call me Captain because i used to belong to a pirate group and do partys as Jack Sparrow. I know it sounds kinda dumb but it was good money. I once got hired for a hundred dollars an hour just to take pictures at a sweet sixteen party. Anyway im big into prop building and always have been very creative. I have built The Lost in Space Robot some years ago, also a V8 computer that was on the cover of two magazines. I also had to build the Desperado Guitar Case for all my C02 guns.
Most of the videos are on youtube, all you would have to do is just type in HOTRODLED and look threw my videos if you want. I also have a lot of Iphone themes i make for free to download. Im not trying to get anyone to view my stuff on youtube but thats were i keep the videos of the stuff i make. Right now im looking to build a retro ROBOCOP suit for next halloween. I have bought the helmet so thats out of the way, i just have to make it a little smaller so it looks like i will be cutting some of the center out and re-fiberglassing it. Anyway i just wanted you guys to know a little about me. By the way im from long island New York. If anyone has any robocop parts or scale info please feel free to shoot me an email.
Peace! Dave

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone!

I'm Teo, aged 21 and I am from the awesome place also known as Finland. I am currently a student, but have some three years of experience as a car body mechanic and I used to dabble with airbrushing. In general I like to think I know how to do stuff, but I'm planning my first big build and for that reason I ventured here to seek expert advice, inspired by none other than Adam Savage and the many many videos on which he mentions this place.

I hope I'll gather some tips and tricks and experience with different kinds of materials that I'm used to handling while I'm here. I'm an adamant autodidact and being a jack-of-all-trades is something I cannot help but feel is something to be proud of, which is why I keep finding all sorts of things I could learn more about all the time.

So yeah, that's me. Cheers.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi, I'm Jim! I'm from Long Island, NY. I'm very happy to have found this site, the people on here are amazingly talented. The first day I was on I was able to buy a Scarab for an Egyptian Sliders Timer! That's like the most daunting detail on that whole thing, and I find this place and that hurdle is gone!

My main areas of interest are Sliders, Back To The Future, Indiana Jones, Green Lantern and other cool stuff. I don't have a lot of props, although I do have a lot of different Green Lantern rings.

I hope I can contribute more than just my awe of others work. My main goal right now is to make a 1/3 size Hoverboard for my 2 month old son. I already have the vest and jean jacket for each of us, so it should make for some fun Facebook pictures if nothing else!

Hey guys, I suppose I'm not really a new member, but I realized that I've just been reading and haven't even introduced myself yet, so here I am! I'm apcki from LA and I like learning about props and costumes and the such, even though I've never made one. I'm sure I'll eventually try my hand at it though.
