Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey!

I've been here several times reading posts and researching for prop builds, but I finally decided to register.

I mostly do steampunk anymore, but I've done Star Wars, Princess Bride, etc. for Halloween in past years

I'm a longtime SCA member, so I'm very familiar with costuming. These are just a different set of authenticity rules to follow.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all!

I have been a member of the 501st Legion as a Stormtrooper for over a year, and lately came across a sales thread on the 501st forums with Han In Carbonite face panel casts for a good price, and I jumped on it.

I ended up buying two, one for me and one for a friend, and have started building the box while waiting for the casts to arrive. I have also bought an original Volvo instrumentpanel from a local scrapyard, and will be trying to make resin copies by slushcasting, which will be a challenge, as I have never tried it before.

I registered on The RPF to gather information about the Han In Carbonite and look at other people's builds, getting inspiration and seeing how people tackle different issues during the build.

I have been using MonCals build as a guideline, and cut out the frame/box using ckings excellent measurements.

Looking forward to continuing this build, and get inspiration from all the talented people on these boards!

Here is my blog, detailing my life as a Stormtrooper as well as the HIC build: A Stormtrooper In Nidaros (Nidaros being the old viking-name of my town, Trondheim)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone!

My name's Erica, I'm 21 and Irish.

I'm sort of quiet and terrible at introductions, but I guess I should give it a bash! I found out about this site through looking for information on making a Lady Deadpool costume online. I've been looking to make the suit with the muscles and such showing. So for the last few weeks I've been gathering as much data and research on her [and several other] characters/ costumes.

I don't know too much about building props, the first I ever made was a replica mask for Grimmjow out of Bleach for an ex boyfriend of mine. But I really want to be able to create my own in better detail soon! As a student, I don't really have that much money to throw around on the props that I would love to buy. [Sadly] But hopefully one day I'll be able to get the ones I want!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello RPF, my name's Justin and I'm from Texas. Love building and sculpting, and actually found out about this place from Adam Savage. Seeing some amazing talent on here so far, can't wait to add to it!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey-o. Name's Reid. I live in the Grand Canyon state. 20 years old. I'm mildly familiar with prop/costume building since I've hung around the Arizona garrison of the 501st, but I've also learned a good amount of things from stalking prop forum and build threads. So yeah. Dunno what else to say. Lolol. :D

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi my name is David Reichelt. I live in Simi Valley, Ca. I go to CSUN and work as a magician. Oh and I am also an Army veteran; I served as a combat medic from 2003-2011. I was deployed to Iraq in 2005 and somehow made it out in one piece! Anyway, now that all those boring details are out of the way, I'll tell you why I'm here. I found this site because I was searching for a Kermit the Frog muppet. I won't go beyond that as I am a new member and don't want to use my intro for my Kermit rant. I am glad I found this site though and look forward to meeting you other members! Thanks!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi, I'm Devin.
I have been thinking about making props and costumes for awhile and saw this site while looking at other props. Thinking that this will be my first step toward actually making things, I joined. Besides doing this I draw sometimes.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi. My name is Adrian and I am based in the UK. When I was a kid (jeez... How long ago??!!!) I used to make models out of sheets of card that my Mum used to bring home from work. These included X-Wing, TIE Fighters, Millennium Falcon, Dioramas for my toy soldiers, etc. I guess this led me to my interest in making replica guitars of my favourite guitar players...... Eddie Van Halen and Michael
Schenker. Over the last few years I have found a resurgent interest in owning some of the stuff I saw in movies from my childhood. Having lurked around here for some time I'm a little nervous of actually doing anything cos the detail that goes into some of the stuff on here just blows my mind!!!! I HAD thought of going for something simple... Like a HAL 9000..... Holy crap!!! I've got NO chance of getting the Nikkor lens, nor even getting the words engraved on something that might just pass from a distance! Would still like to have a go, but don't want to get flamed for something that might just convey the 'idea' of HAL to a passer-by......... Is the 'essence' of something acceptable on here, or do I need to be SOOOOO accurate it would kill me?????
Whatever...... LOVE LOVE LOVE the work you guys do..... It just blows my mind!!
Be well, and Live Long And Prosper...... (Sorry, but I just HAD to..... Having been a Trekky since I was 5 years old......):angel

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi xD
I kind of discovered this site after looking for some Pepakura files,
looked like everyone recommended checking out this site.

I've been making costumes for some years now, but I've never tried making armors and helmets.
but then I came over Pepakura, and I got addicted xD

So hopefully this site will help me getting some awesome armores made :)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello, Glad to have found this site, I mostly do Steampunk for now, but have a closet full of SCA, Star wars and about 5000 yards of fabric waiting for the next costuming process. My husband and I recently took a class in casting and loved it. We are on different tracks as far as creating and casting. I do small stuff like weapons and accessories, he does small sculptures and guitars. The whole family is creative, so we do alot of things! including digital! I look forward to being able to discuss with others who understand, rather than trying to explain why I would want to make a copy of Queen Amadala as a handmaiden costume for my daughter....:unsure

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey guys,I've been lurking for a while but figured I'd join up .My name is Keatonknight and I'm from Hungary, Europe. I've been a big fan of sci fi movie memorabilia since 90's. I've built a life-size Batman statue.I would like to learn more about prop and costume making. It's great to be here.

Nice meeting everyone.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings folks!

I found this forum looking for information on Makcolm Reynolds's (/Firefly/) Browncoat. I found more info than I could possibly have imagined online, and then some.

I've made a few "costumes" before, mostly adapting Big 3 patterns to something more resembling what I could find in screenshots, and usually things that I'd want to wear for more than one reason. For example, The Spouse's "Prince Philip" shirt (/Sleeping Beauty/) serves triple duty as a Westley/Dread Pirate Roberts shirt :) and a Renfaire-type shirt.

I am astounded by the information and skill here. I am inspired. I have done some metalwork and carpentry as well as sewing, but mostly rough work for pet and farm work. I hope to pick up some more inspiration and tips and just generally bask in the sheer awesomeness of the work others are posting here.

I wasn't planning to do any posting at all--I signed up for an account so I could subscribe to threads--but oh my, some of the props replicas are more than I can stand. Now that I've posted in an interest thread in the junkyard, I thought I had better at least post in the introduction thread too :)

So if anyone is reading these messages besides the new members, thank you all for your incredible talent AND your willingness to share.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi Guys
I have just stumbled across this website today and to be honest I have done no work whatsoever since I found it.

I have already decided to make an Ironman helemet. No idea which one yet but having problems getting the pep files to the size of my melon!
is there anyone out there that has the scaled up versions or can someone do it.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi guys and gals,

I've been lurking on this site on and off. I say on and off because work had kept me away for quite some time. But now that I'm back I thought I should really introduce myself. My name is F. I'm 26 and I work in the art department on various tv and film shows.. (I'm a newbie in this field and my work comprises of technical drawings and graphics) I've been facinated with props especially graphics but its only recently that i decided to make my own reproductions outside of the original things I create for work. Haven't made any reproductions as of yet, but I am currently planning projects and I am in the research and development stages.

I stumbled on this site accidently and I must say it's a wonderful treasure chest ...not only are there amazing projects but fantastic people who are willing to share ideas, knowledge and of course their time and creativity. I hope to connect with a lot of great artists, researchers etc and aim to contribute greatly to the community.
