Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Long time stalker, first time poster, it's a pleasure to be here!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greeting my creative brothers and sisters. I am new to the whole Forum thing but have created a few things in my past. My main thing is video, editing, drawing and I work at a School as a counselor for Adolescents and teens/Adults. I joined the RPF looking for help in building a Captain America Shield for a Kids outreach Program we are having. I saw that there's a contest going on so I said "hey why not" I have begun creating a Captain America costume. It's almost done just waiting for the auto shop to finish the painting of the shield and etching my helmet with the wings. Im happy to have met all of you. Blessing!

oh heres my thread :D

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone!

My name's Lindsay from Ontario, Canada. I've only recently begun working on my very first cosplay (Ellen Ripley from Aliens), after admiring other people's work for years.

Every time I have a question about how to do something, or where to find a certain prop, I Google it and end up back here! All the answers have been so helpful, so I figured... why not join?

Anywho, great to be here & I'll see you around the forums.

Cheers!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey, everyone. I'm an indy filmmaker and part time cosplayer. I've done a couple of Wilco Models Firefly prop kits, some Batman stuff, and even sewn some coats (My favorite being the one from Equilibrium). I've also done some foam sheet costumes for original artwork in the web series I'm working on. Most of my training on these things has come from Indy Mogul's BFX, along with some random google searches and some trial and error.

My next big project I would like to do is the Arkham City Mr. Freeze costume, but first I have to finish the projects I've already started.

I hear that :lol I've been working on a Rorschach mask, thought "hey this looks pretty good" Doesn't even reach the ground level bar when compared to what fans here have done :cry. When I see some of the costumes here, Bane, Ironman, Blade etc, I think "You didn't make that, you stole it from the movie set :darnkids :behave

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone from Down Under,
I'm really new to cosplay and prop building but have been collecting "geek bits" as it gets so nicely termed by my friends for awhile. I love reading the build threads and working out how to do something so I'm looking forward to learning a lot around here.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings! New maker here, astounded by the absolute avalanche of information on the site. How can anyone have a look around here and not want to make something!?

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all,

Found this site from a youtube video about props and things from the TV show Dexter.

I thought also it would be a treat for you guys to let you know the real truth and not to let the lie propagate like it has for 15 years.

The truth is this.

I created Dexter more than 30 years ago. It really does come from child abuse. While father is swinging me by my ankles slamming me into the wall smashing over lamps and such a song was in my mind that kept me sane. The song is sung by clint holmes- playground of my mind.
I was only 6 years old or so(1973) By age 14 I turned him into a serial killer as my invisible character that kept me sane seemed to be too fake and I knew I had to make him more real to keep myself/mind at ease.

In 1997 Jeff Lindsay met me online and like him and others on the website forum (about 20 of us) were shooting off ideas for a new tv show.
I decided to submit my serial killer who kills only other serial killers to teh site. Many people did not like the idea but 5 others sent me whispers to create a new thread just for them so I can explain further why my character metis so much attention.

It was then I told Jeff Lindsay that he was a serial killer who only kills other serial killers. He then asked if I wanted to be compensated and then asked me for my real name and I gave it to him.

HE then in a few moments started bragging he was going to take my character away from and said there was nothing I could do about it and that even if I did go public that nobody would believe be because who he is married to. Many people were like " /facepalm" saying sorry to me.

Well the next day I was going to continue this online fight but that was not going to happen. The next day walking to work I was indirectly hit by lightning and I was sent to ER. For 2 years I was messed up in the head over bad weather and the drama of that day and for the first 2 years made me totally forget about the days previous events.

I just got my memory back this past earyl June or so. It could have been late may... again bad memory due to being hit.

But 15 years went by before I got my memory back and I was at the time so happy and angry when the memries started comming back. To know I am out of recognition because someone lied.

Well I am here to set the record straight. Jeff Lindsay did not name Dexter and neither did I. It was some Dexter Laboratory nerd who gave him that name.

I am not lying to you guys and I will be going to court against Jeff Lindsay on this matter.
He does know of me and he does know my real name as we had interaction in 1997.

I never had a story of Dexter because he was a part of my real life.
Many fans are asking I must have had a story line about him and no I did not.
Dexter was just there as a buffer to keep me sane from my father insane beatings.

I will keep telling the above truth until I go to my grave.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello Everybody,

Thought I would say hello and introduce myself.

My name is James. I'm a huge fan of Star Trek and Star Wars. My father got my brother and I interested in this stuff from a very early age. Actually he is the main reason I am joining here. He has a phaser 1, a phaser 2, and a communicator that he bought back in the 80s. We all think they are from the original 60s tv series. He has kept them to himself all this time but now he says he will let me share some photos.

When he does I will try to post them here to see what you guys think. Until then I'll just start looking around. Lots to see here.

James

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi

Just getting my intro done.

Star Wars costumer and moviemaker from the UK. Currently own full Stormtrooper, Sandtrooper and Jack Sparrow costume.

Working on, WW2 Captain America (with a twist), Steampunk Rocketeer/Clone.

I have lots of helmets, some good some bad.

TKs for my Stormtrooper and Sandtrooper armor.
MR Stormtrooper
FX Stormtrooper
X-Wing
Norton Armories Viking
Roman Legionnaire
Spartan

and loads of rubies/hasbro stuff to mess up.

Just finished painting and distressing a phaseII clone helmet. Am interested in messing around with pepakura templates in foam board. Finding decent templates is proving frustrating.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Wats up everyone!

I'm as noob as they come. I love cosplay after going to a comic con and seeing all these great designs that people had for their costumes. With my Architecture background, Tattooing, Drawing, and some Technical Skills, I think combining alot of the ideas here with my knowledge would be great! I got inspired by MasterLe's work. So I'm basically here to top him :) no offense. :lol well try to at least. Im currently working on a small piece which is Scorpions Mask to see how foam and bondo works, and try a few other things besides trying to find a PEP file to work on and work by visual and casting. I will post a thread after this but I thought i would try to see how all things work first then go to what i want to build. Looking forward to the negatives and the positive feedback! Thanks!
