Hi My name is Annette , my husband Ed is on this forum, I'm thinking getting into a bit of costuming to compliment him! I grew up with scifi movies and my brother was a model builder and a prop master in the entertainment industry. Looking forward to finding some tips on doing costumes. Wish me luck!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I figured I'd post a few things in the forums first before saying hello.

Hi, My name is Rob. I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio.

Been reading prop forums since early 00's where I found the A.S.A.P. board. Tried a hand or two over the years at this and that. Taken a few head molds.

I draw mostly. Some painting. Planning on jumping in with both feet soon. Chubbier guy, so a lot of the costumes I'm interested in wouldn't fit... though, the latest The Dark Knight Rises kind of ended my passion for wanting to be in the suit.

Sculpting is a big interest of mine that I've been looking to expand. Been watching some videos on it which have greatly improved my drawing techniques.

Halo, Batman, Iron-man, TMNT are some of my biggest prop costume interests. You'll usually see me lurking in those boards.

Hope to get something up and started soon.

Hey everyone!

My name is Lauren. I'm Californian, and hail to you all as a massive admirer of the work you do. I discovered this forum through asking about an awesome Captain America Avengers costume that I saw on the forums. I asked about it, and he pointed me here.

I'm ridiculously blown away by the work that you all do and am definitely going to be sinking a ton of time into just gaping at everyone's work.

As for more practical goals... I'm a 5'3" gal who decided that she wanted to cosplay Avengers Cap. I have no idea where to start (horror of horrors, I can't even sew), and I have until Comic-Con next year, so... I'm going to see what I can learn from the masters.

Other than that, I'm really just looking forward to seeing what I can see. I'm a big fan of most Marvel comics, particularly Iron Man, Captain America (obviously), and Spider-Man.

Hopefully I'll either get inspiration from, or get the courage to ask you all for your input soon!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey,

My name is Bryan. From Pennsylvania. Was searching around trying to find a well built Majora's Mask replica and found this site. Now I am completely addicted to this forum and check on it at least three times a day to see what everyone is either selling or creating.

All the work that everyone does on here is amazing and I want to be able to both create something as well as buy some of the awesome stuff that is produced here. This forum has also picked my interest to start cosplaying and actually going to a few different expos this year.

Anyway I hope to be able to take the information from users here and create something awesome. I just have too many ideas running through my mind right now which is making it pretty difficult to settle on one. In the end though whichever idea I pick I'll make sure to show you all.

Thanks for letting me into this awesome community!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello,

Firstly please excuse my awful English, I try to make progress, but my native language is French. :rolleyes

My name is Quentin and I am almost 20 years old, I started this year to learn the work of "techniscéniste" (it's all about lights, sound, video, special effects, set...) on stage in Lausanne, because I live in Switzerland.

I'm introducing me to you today, but it's been several years that I know the RPF. I came across over it several times doing researches for my projects. Seeing that I found many of the answers I needed, I then started to check it regularly.

About props, I created many random things since my childhood. I was regularly retrieving the objects that I found along the streets, flea markets and curiosity shops to use it for whatever props or costumes. I love modifying objects, it is often fast and gives good results.
I'm doing it now especially for some of my friends LARPS.

Otherwise I'm a fan of science fiction, and for example : Dr Who, Star Trek, Stargate, Firefly series. Alien, Dark City, The Prestige, The Thirteenth Floor, The Matrix, for movies. But also of authors like Asimov.

The only video games that interest me are the reflection adventure type. I particularly like the Myst series that I've known since my childhood. Then I discovered Syberia and lately I've been amazed by Portal and Portal 2 and I now expect to discover Cradle.

Besides all that, I am also interested in everything that is makeup, prosthetics, special effects. But also effects scenes, lights, pyrotechnics, machinery, that are part of my job.

I am now working on a big project around Stargate which I'll talk about on this forum, I hope you will support me and give me some advices.

This same project has already brought me having to explain myself after a serious misunderstanding here. So I hope not to make anyone angry when I'll introduce it. :sleep

P.S. I'm also an Illusionist. I started learning 12 years ago. ;)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Good news everybody ...
After lurking the site for some time, finally joined, and will be posting some costume threads and questions. Realitively newbie so be patient with me and questions.
Want to send out special props to Stealth, who after checking out his you tube, lead to here, and possibly an un-healthy fascination with pep and foam building.
Salute ...
Dan

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi there,
I've been been building lightsabers for 4 years now and I eventually joined this forum to find more information on the original movie props, opportunities to buy some quality stuff and to do some research for a costume.
I knew this forum through other forums such as FX-Sabers and TCSS.
See you soon,

Tom.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey, I'm Jeff, I've build a few different assassins creed hidden blades, and I'm currently working on a Rinzler costume from Tron Legacy. I've been viewing these forums for some time, It's a great place for ideas and information. I'll post pics of Rinzler when I'm done with it.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone, I'm Stepheny. I'm currently studying computer science, and I love recreating props and costumes from my favorite video games. I'm joining this community because I don't know anyone with this same hobby, and I'd love to have feedback/help from like-minded people.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi

Name is Nick. Been looking at the site for a long time before I finally joined. Looking for and to make Stargate costumes and props. Lots of great SG ideas here.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings all.

I've known about this site for awhile and just decided to check it out and join. I have some Star Trek TOS props that I've picked up over the years, but my main interest currently is R2-D2 and building a screen accurate replica. I've been working on it for some time now and have been concentrating on a few different custom designed electronic boards for it.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi guys,
So I've never been the creating type. I've been into fully restoring older BMWs and now I'd like to try something new and exciting. Crafting some of my favorite movie props, drew me to this site and this winter I'm gonna try my hand at making the iron man mark viii armor.
well im looking forward to learning techniques and from you all here.
-Eric

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Yep I'm new, signed up a few days ago but have been too busy with work to sit down and write out an introduction. I've lurked the RPF a few times in the past because I admire the workmanship and dedication others put into cosplaying and prop replication.
Honestly I don't have much personal experience in the field myself, unless you count modding on the PC (ie creating outfits, and weapons for my own original characters in with 3d modeling applications).
The reason I've signed up now is because I want to take one of my PC original character creations (known as The Outlander - same as my account name) and make it real (or as close as cosplay will allow), and I need advice on a few things.
