Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi I'm Lynn! Only since the beginning this year have I been taking costume and prop more seriously and so far it's going well. I'm still in high school with sports daily so time is limited but I'm hoping to improve a ton more. I would love to do a lot more costumes but you know, money is a very limited thing. ha.

But yeah that's it. I'm just amazed at all the amazing projects I've been seeing, this site rocks.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Just wanted to take a minute to welcome all of the new members. (Hi Meagan, glad you made it)

There is a lot of info floating about the RPF here, don't be afraid to look in areas that are outside of your scope. You might be pleasantly surprised at all of the very cool threads that are in all of the various sections. If you get lost, don't hesitate to ask questions.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello, my name is Ruben. I found while browsing sites like spidey4fun and one batman one that I can't remember the name of. Anyway, I make short action movies on youtube (who doesn't) and wanted to start a new web series about a super luchador that I created. I saw all the amazing costumes, masks and builds and was amazed by the creativity. You guys are all truly gifted.

Hello everyone,
I'm Alex from Italy!
I'm president of Battlestar Galactica Italian Club. I'm very interested in bsg prop. We participate in various events throughout the year and we would like to make a stand in BSG style. We were planning to recreate the recreation room.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone,

After years of experience in the field of custom action figures, I'm turning my hand and branching out in my attempt at replica / prop making.

I'm incredibly impressed with the talent in this group, and look forward to being a contributing member!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello Everyone!

Halloween is really more my thing than cosplay but it has seemed to work its way into my life anyway. Plus, my personal motto is "If there is a reason to dress up like an idiot, I'm there." This includes Halloween (obvs), Zombie Crawls/Proms/Beach Parties, Cons, etc.

Some of my stuff has been better than others (Queen of Blades costume for Halloween last year was AWFUL and embarrassing, but I won the costume contest. My Kali costume was pretty awesome, I lost to an alien who showed up last minute. Go figure.)

Anyway, that's a bit about me.

Cheers!

LSC

Special note to grammar Nazis:
I over use commas and parenthesis, have terrible grammar, use "inventive" spelling and a tendency to de-rail threads (not on purpose, it's a stream of consciousness thing.) My apologies in advance.

Hey there,

Name is Mike, long time lurker - I've been getting more and more into my Halloween costumes the last couple of years, and I figured I needed to start posting on here to get leads on who makes the best costumes for my goals for the coming Halloween.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Oops! I totally missed this thread when I first joined. I guess I'll post belatedly. :)

I'm a competitive cosplayer; I make props and costumes and wigs and all sorts of other things, with an eye to detail and accuracy (but also a tendency to use unconventional materials and techniques... mostly because I've had no formal training and don't know that I'm doing it wrong!). I've been pretty active on other cosplay forums, but until recently I had just been an RPF lurker. However, now that I'm starting to do more movie-replica costumes, I'm joining the conversation! I love learning new techniques and seeing the creative construction methods other people come up with.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all! SO happy I stubled upon this site! Can't wait to go through all of the threads! I'm sure this is going to extremely dangerous - so many things to make so little time!!

First stop Farnsworth building, next... only my muse knows!

** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone,

I stumbled upon the RFP following related links to costume making. I have never attempted this before and thought I would give it a try after watching Stealth's videos. I had been searching for costuming information to make an Iron Man suit for my son, who is into Halloween and other dress up affairs in NYC. I have created most pieces for an Iron Man IV suit from Pepakura cardstock and have a growing appreciation for the amount of time people have put into their work cutting, gluing, and assembling lots and lots of pieces - not to mention the upcoming sessions of fiberglass, bondo, and paint.

I am looking forward to communicating with members to gain any information that may be useful in avoiding time consuming mistakes, best practices, or when I just can't figure something out.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I have been using pepakura for some time now.. I am also a 3d modeler and I am really wanting to get back into costume building again. I had made some star wars helmets from 3d models that I have built but all the time it took to bondo and sand it took I never really finished them. I came across this site from looking for foam building. Im going to give this a shot and try to build war machine. I look forward to helping and getting help as much as I can't. Thank you all

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Welcome slobberindogs, it's the same way I found the forum as well!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey y'all!

Name's Derby (aka TopSnipe) and i'm definitely a Noob here!

I have been sporatically working in wood since my first 8th grade shop class, 30-35 years ago, as time and finances allowed. I was performing some Interwebs Bing-fu in pursuit of vacuum press information when I happened upon Volpin's Protoform vacuum forming machine build.

Following through the detailed description of his development and building progress naturally lead to reviewing his other blog posts to see what he made with the thing. The level of detail in his WIPs, however, makes me fear that I will never be able to attain skills anywhere near half of his! This perusal, however, did pique an interest in prop making! I have definitely been bitten by the prop making bug! I can't wait to make a bunch of molds and then cast something!!

I'm not much of a video gamer and tend to play games that require solving some type of puzzle, like Metal Gear, instead of 1st person shooter type games when I do play.

I'm more drawn to the challenges of weapon and armor-craft than actual cos-play/costume side so the props I'd like to try my hand at are going to be along those lines. Who knows, maybe this will lead to other stuff as well!?

For my first prop, I'm going to attempt to make a mini-nuke from the Fallout games. I'll try to keep track of my progress and post it here as I move forward. Wish me luck and stand by for lots of questions.

Thanks to everyone in advance for your patience and understanding!!

R/Derby

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello
Like a lot of people it seems, I stumbled across this fine, fine forum one day when searching for info on collecting/creating prop replicas on Google. That was a few months ago, and now I've finally gotten around to making an account. :lol
I'm incredibly new to this whole prop replica business, but for now, my interest is cemented in various sci-fi and video game props. Now let's see what I can get away with here in the UK...

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone! :)
I'm Nikki, I'm from south Wales.
Im a big movie fan (nerd) and I'm just getting
Into buying props/replicas.
My favourite stuff is all the replicas from
Jurrasic Park, back to the future, Alien,
Terminator, Star Wars etc.
Basically all the old sc-fi stuff!
I really love Tarantino films to, would love
To find some stuff from his films to.
Looking forward to being part of RPF!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all :)
I'm Arnaud, I'm French (Sorry for my bad english. I do my best, but sometimes...)
I'm 18 years old, and I love weapons.
I study machining, and when I get my degree (diploma ?) I'll try to join the Saint Etienne's Weapons Factory.
I found this forum by searching on the internet to find replicas of the famous Selene's Beretta. I hope to finally get them :p
If I don't, I'll try to machined them, or only the special compensator and add it on an airsoft beretta, but it's hard to find the measurements...
Maybe Matsuo will be able to give them to me. :confused
I guess it's all, so bb all and hope to be a member of the RPF :D
