re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hows it going??

I'm Matt, I just recently joined yesterday to post up my Firefly Costume. I have been linked here multiple times by a friend, and the amount of talent here is amazing, truly. Kudos to all you VERY skilled ladies and gentlemen that make this place work. I am HONOURED to be a part of it, a fine patron to say the least, but also a cosplayer myself.

As stated I am about done with my firefly browncoat costume(with my own twist on things), but also want to make a Star wars Smuggler outfit(possibly using parts of the browncoat :p) in homage to the upcoming MMO The Old Republic :D

Happy costuming everyone!

Hey, I've been a member for about a year, but I've only started actively using the sight the past two weeks.

I build things, My friends think I'm crazy... but I think its fun.

I'm currently working on a foam based set of futuristic armor, and a Doctor Doom costume.

In the past I've built things from chainmaille, cardstock and well whatever I could get my hands on.

Hello everyone.
I have been interested in prop collecting for a long time. Planet Hollywood made an impression on me in the 90's. My collection includes screen worn items as well as replicas. I am interested in lifesize figures, busts, etc.

Hi my name is Kevin, I'm a fabricator in a shop in North Hollywood. I also do visual effects. I've worked on several web series including "The Guild" "Dragon Age" and "Legend of Neil." I enjoy the wealth of imagery you guys have here. Always scanning for resources. And I hope I can contribute to that in the future.

Right now Im working on a 2001: Space Odyssey space suit. I've also got a few other side projects you'll see more of in the future when they get released.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Howdy, Keegano here. I'm a big movie buff and comic geek, put them together and you have uber nerd! I even came up with most of the marvel movie plot lines many years before they came out (well, I guess I predicted them as well as plenty of the casting they used). I've also always been the one that gives more effort into Halloween than anyone I have ever known. Anyway, ramble, ramble, ramble, here are a few of my builds. Tell me what you think.

I guess I'm kinda cheating on this one, I bought the leather jacket off ebay. It's supposed to have red straps but for some reason, they were brown when I opened the box. I guess it kinda gives it a "vintage" feel and is a little more classy to wear while walking around in public. Gives the appearance of jacket, not costume. I'll post more pics of my Cap costume when I get them taken.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi!
I'm a retired engineer who likes to build things. My current project
is building a full sized replica of R2D2. I put together a CNC controlled
router so I could accurately cut parts. I'm now in the process of
of doing the designs of the various components as well as cutting and
assembling an R2 unit of my own. I'm building in styrene because I need
to keep the weight of the finished droid down to where I can easily
lift it.

I'm trying to incorporate features in the design phase that
take advantage of the CNC cutting process to make the finished model
better. Things like tab & slot construction and eggcrate assembly.
Back in March I posted an eggcrate styrene frame design on my website.
Since then I've added assembly instructions & pictures, a mating skirt
design and shoulder hubs. Those are complete designs with Autocad drawing
files you can download.

I've just posted a preliminary version of what I'm calling a box beam
leg design. It combines the leg and ankle into one unified assembly.
The core of the design is a pair of boxes formed from styrene, with an
additional layer of styrene on each outside face. I'm hoping for a very
rigid leg structure but one that's still light weight and easy to assemble.

At this point all I've posted is a 3d .pdf file on my website.
If you have a chance, take a look as I'd like comments that might
improve the design.

Hi my name is Phil I'm a special effects artist and props designer for Stone Phoenix Productions. Now that were done filming our first feature film, I'm getting back into doing things I want to do. I'll have pictures up soon of the all the guns, shields, etc I've done but what I'm really here for is to meet some great, talented people and learn to start working on the costume aspect of things.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone, name is DerMau5. Guess you can guess what I'll be making lol.

Probably way to over done for everyone's tastes on this forum, but I'm a big Deadmau5 fan. I haven't actually started my Mau5 head project yet, as the parts are still in the mail. But this should be a whirlwind of a project, I plan to get mine done in about 2 days for a party, lighting and all. Should be fun.

If it's any consolation, my friend and I have been tossing around the idea of building a Guy Manuel (Daft Punk) head. If we go through with it, I'll be posting a build thread for sure.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello All,

New member from AZ. I was just googling for forums on how props are made especially since Halloween is just around the corner. I am very intriqued on how these props and made and so much detail and time that each person put into. I would to someday learn how to do this.
And looks like I have come to the right place....

Hello all...

My name is Vanessa. I live in sunny Florida and am a huge Harry Potter fan. I am just scratching the surface of this hobby, as my husband is the big collector in our house. He has bought some great HP items for me and he has enjoyed getting wrapped up here at the RPf that I decided it was time to see what all the fun is about and share more interests with him :) I look forward to learning and meeting people.

Hello one and all,

I have also made Jack Sparrow costumes, Black Swan and Zepp the jigsaw dummy from the Saw films but I am now looking at new horizons in prop making. I hope I can gather as much knowledge from you guys as I can. I look foward to talking to you all of you.

Thanks for reading

Hey all, I'm Neil

Found this site and haven't left, just haven't taken the opportunity to post yet. I love tinkering with and building things, and have tried my hand at sculpting, mold-making/casting, and electronics among others.

Done a little cosplaying, here's a pic of our Left4Dead group from GenCon 2010, I'm Nick in the white

Hey everyone! My name is Ty.

I've been into Star Wars stuff and have assembled a few Stormtrooper suits myself. I currently have an Elite Novatrooper and Novatrooper Medic from the game Star Wars: Galaxies. I've got a few armor projects currently like a Phase II Darktrooper and a Bombtrooper from the Expanded Universe. Here's some pics of my stuff currently (and yes I'm a member of the 501st Legion).

I stopped by over here to look into doing a TRON:Legacy costume at some point (probably CLU). So I've done a little reading in that enormous thread.

Anyway I'm back to building some more armor.

I just wanted to drop a line and say HI! My name is Dan and I am in Central/Southern California. I have been lurking for a while, and have worked on several costume builds with friends. My hats off to everyone here, the creativity and skills shown here are simply mind blowing! I have been attemping a PEP build of the future batman helm (I like collecting helmets) and holy crap that is difficult lol. I have ALOT to learn, and I think for now I will just scale my helmets up to make them easier to build. I have very large (and shaky) hands, and I can't count how many times I glued my fingers to the paper lol.

Anyways, i just wanted to introduce myself. I want to continue to lurk and learn. We will be (hopefully) relocating to a house in the near future, and I should have enough room to start a full build (I am into Star Wars). Thanks again and ahead of time for all the valuable information here. Hopefully I can be some form of contributor down the road, for now, i read :).
