re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone. Name's Edward. Have always wanted to do something like this (costuming) but have never had the time and the wherewithal all at the same time. Now that I'm working tons of overtime, writing a book and working on a podcast... I still dont. Ah well, not getting any younger so here I go! I plan on asking a lot of stupid questions, making tons of redundant observations and failing miserably. Wish me luck!

oh, btw, you can blame Dragoncon for this.

Hello all!

I am a big fan of movies, but have never made any props. So I have been looking up and down the website and have found a lot of cool stuff. If I have any questions I will let you know.

Hello All! I have wanted to start building replica props for quite some time. I just got into leather working and I will soon be attempting to make replica belts and holsters from the movies I love!

Please be patient as I make as some STUPID questions at first. I am new to these kinds of forums.

Thanks

Hmmm... how odd, I thought I posted yesterday. Anyways, hello! I'm glad to finally join -- I've been a long time lurker but seeing so much talent and creativity I would like to try some stuff as well! I'm a big sci-fi and horror fan and have assembled very simple versions of costumes (Ash from Evil Dead, Shaun (of the Dead) for example) which I may spruce up after working on some Tron stuff I've found in here. See you around!

Hey all! I can't tell you how happy I am to have stumbled onto these forums. My name is Billy, and I am a 41 year old bartender in New Orleans. I have been a HUGE Star Wars fan since I was a wee lad, and eventually got into comics, role-playing, and video games as I grew older.

My love for Star Wars hasn't died, no matter how many times Lucas tried to kill it. Heck, I wanted to name my son Luke, but my wife (now ex,) wouldn't have anything to do with it. I think she new I eventually wanted to use the "I am your Father" line on him when he asked why he had to do something.

I have bought a few props here and there, but I really would like to get into prop making. It is something I have toyed around with for years, but never quite made the jump. I am hoping that surrounding myself with like-minded people will give me the push I need to get my hands dirty.

Anyhow, I am insanely happy to be here, and look forward to bugging you all with stupid questions until I get my feet wet enough to contribute as an equal.

Looking forward to getting to know you,

Billy

Hi. I am a Star Wars, Muppet, HP and anything Tim Burton fan. I have a screen used Tim Burton prop, and am always looking for more. I also have a MR Boba Fett helmet and the MR Jack Skellington, and MR Muppets. Most of my collection are toys but I also like Gentle Giant sculpts.

I am into costuming but only get to justify it to the wife about twice a year.

Recent Costumes...

Tatooine Luke
Victor from Corpse Bride (wife was Emily)
Mad Hatter Johnny Depp Version (wife was Alice)
This year we are doing Harry Potter School Attire and Luna Lovegood train attire. I have all of my references on all of these costumes if anyone needs help planning.

Hello,

I've been a member over at the Indy Gear site for quite a few years now and I've heard this site mentioned off and on by many different members. I can't say for certain why it's taken me so long to come over and check the place out but I thought I would.

I'm not particularly "handy" when it comes to making props, in fact the only thing I've ever attempted to do is make my own whip holder. :lol

Up until recently I was unemployed so that cut into being able to continue to work on collecting props and gear for my outfits. My two main passions right now are the Indiana Jones films and the Uncharted game series so that's where most of my costuming focus has been. Now that I'm working I'm hoping to be able to start my gear collecting up again. :)

I can't wait to browse the site and see all the cool props and costumes people have made and are working on.

Thanks again, it's great to finally be a member here. :cool

Greeting & salutations!!!

My name is Vini, & I hail from that darkest of Isles.......the UK.

I have been a member of The Hunters Lair for a while now, & thought I'd drop by The RPF to see what so many of my fellow Hunters were talking about.

I like it here!

There are some seriously talented people here.

I'm currently building my first Predator suit, & have now started to make some progress with my first M41A prop.

Going well so far, I'll keep you all informed as to how it goes.

Thanks for having me! :)

Hello all, been lurking for a while now. I have always been a big fan of Star Wars, not the prequels but the real Star Wars movies. For as long as I can remember I have always been interested in all the technology and detail that was developed for these movies. From the filming models to the costume props. Even the techniques they developed to make the movies possible. If I was born on the other side of America I would have tried to make a career in film. But fate dealt me a different hand and fix ATMs for a living. Ohh well it pays well and lets me indulge in personal endeavors. Currently I am interested in building a Biker Scouts pistol which should not be too hard and a ESB 32" Studio Scale Millenium Falcon.

Hi all. I'm Sean, a 40yo guy from Northeast England. I can't remember how I found this site actually. I've been lurking in the background for several months now, admiring and coveting all the creations and goodies on show. I lose hours of my time just browsing through old build threads compiling my mental wishlists. I'm not especially skilled or creative when it comes to building props, guess I will be more of a buyer. Love all things Star Wars, Doctor Who, Marvel and D.C and will slowly start to gain items to store away until my daughter leaves for Uni and I convert her bedroom into a man-lair!

New guy here ! Hi, names Christopher - people call me FOTOG . I've been a movie fan since age 5 and have a long list of collecting. Since hard times, I've moved from Detroit to California ....and sold everything I owned to get here.
Now I'm hoping to start a new collection, or at least get the love for the subject out of me by being on the forum.
I've a lot to do, but y main project is a paper recreation of Silence of The Lamb Lector art. If you are a fan, or interested, I'd like to know....and maybe get a list together.
Anyway, HI ! I've got some art of mine online fotogink.com and I'm on Facebook !:thumbsup

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey guys, my name is Richard. I found this forum whilst I was looking online and trying to find out what film a police badge I own is from and ended up looking through a thread on this forum full of awesome badges (I especially liked the GPD badge I saw). Anyway I've decided on maybe getting a few more but I had a few questions so I thought I'd sign up and ask people who seem to know.

To be honest I don't expect to be that active, I'll probably spend most of my time reading through threads than actually posting, but I thought I'd say "Hi" anyway.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all!

My name is Tom, and I love props and costuming. I not only enjoy the creative side of making/replicating the prop/costume, but finding out or searching out about what the original prop and costume is made from... eg. if the greeble that was used on a prop or costume was an old knob from a 1962 RCA radio, and if I am trying to replicate it, then I try my best to find the old knob.

I look forward to getting to know you all, and being a part of the RPF community.

Cheers,
Tom

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Wow awesome site! I am a novice prop builder..well is there a level below novice?
My name is Josh. I found this website researching Boba Fett armor. But this site has given me a 1000 other ideas. There are some absolute works of art on this site. I will no doubt be asking a ton of questions.

Peace

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone!

Been lurking around here for a while now and am very much impressed by the general nice and encouraging attitude the members of this forum have.

I was one of those kids that would end up making his own toys out of cardboard, duct tape and just about anything else that was handy and/or caught my eye. Grew up and kept on crafting mostly small scale stuff but been looking around and getting lots of ideas for some more advanced projects.

I love science fiction, comicbooks and pop culture.

Some crafters I find particularly inspiring are Volpinprops, BlindSquirrel and GodSaveTheQueenFashions among others.

I'll stop before this becomes even more long winded, if you have any questions please feel free to ask. I don't bite unless I'm asked :love

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Howdy yall,
I stumbled across this site last night in my searching for a pipboy 3000 (or build instructions), and the level of skill represented here has left me awestruck.

I do a hobby/build stuff, everything from working miniature siege engines and custom sci-fi models to Full blown 50" Mame showcase cabinet and an MP3 jukebox with custom software (I'm a programmer by trade).
This is my first foray into any kind of costume/prop works though.

I have a feeling I'm going to be spending a LOT of time here, mostly trying to keep my jaw off the floor.

Hello everyone, My name is Headdragon or Eric. I am from Louisiana. I am a new member here but not to costuming or props. I am also a member of the hunters lair and of the league of heroes. I am trying to get my 501st SL number but its been a pain. I hope to be able to contribute to the site. Anyone from Louisiana give me shout. I am from North East LA.

I love pretty much all things fantasy, sci fi, comic related. I have a full predator costume not screen accurate. I have Vader episde V screen accurate costume. Neither of which I built unfortunately. I am currently starting my first costume build in the form of a space marine from warhammer 40k using pepakura.
