new idea: Batman/iron man crossover - building the helmet

final layer of paper mache, in white, it actually does look like batman in my eyes :)
the paper mache took out the rough edges, so it makes it look more batmany :)

Like what you came up with for the helmet. As far as color goes, I'd suggest taking a look at all black on the suit as others have suggested with the caveat that what is now gold, do with matte finish, so you have a matte/gloss, two-sheen look. Great work, so far, keep it up!

In my opinion there's something missing with the helmet. Also the paint sceme just isn't batman. I know you want to combine them both but I just feel like it's more ironman than a cross of both characters. Though you are very close. I'll sketch something and pm you. Maybe we can make a prototype. Of course in the end it's up to you.

This is a pretty cool idea. My two cents would be take the either the grey or the bulk of the gold of the costume, having both it seems too much for me and takes away from the very sleek look you had with the black and the gold pic. That said, Black and Grey could work out very nicely with the addition of a gold utility belt. Which on this sort of armor might be more for style than function.

Also, I liked it best when you had the real chest light (not sure what to call it) from Ironman on the suit so though it would be cool to amalgamate this baterang with the Ironman chest light. The bad wings etc can be either black, grey or gold IMO, I think all options would look good.

I hope you don't mind me taking liberties with your picture but this project had me very interested. So, this is my take on your idea. The Bat Symbol will need to be slightly reworked to fit the chest space but i could only Photoshop the shape so much before the concept was lost.

Ok, one quick variation as I really like the detailing on the Ironman Helmet

Now... I guess i should get back to work :/

Terrasolo, really digging that second version, though the bat symbol could be about 75% of what you have shown. Seems a tad overwhelming. Also not sure about having JUST the belt gold; pulls the eye two much, IMHO, and shouldn't necessarily be the focus. Either tie it in with the rest of the suit with other gold highlights, or kill completely. Just my 1 1/2 cents (Lost value, per economy)...

I also did that on my work computer and now I am home I can see where the photoshoping doesn't work.

But yeah the bat symbol is too big, I agree, I did work up another with a slightly smaller one, but I do like when his bat symbol is across his chest. As for the gold belt I was going by the Tim Burton films look really, but you're right because even they had the yellow in the chest symbol.

I also made a few other little changes and now you have me wondering where gold can go, that said, i don't want to take over the design from the OP. But maybe I'll play around some more.

Oh and thanks for the compliment, glad you like it.

just do it :) im stuck at my parents house for the holidays, so no building for a while anyway

I actually like the gold in the suit. I thought a nice juxtaposition would be to put the bat symbol on the chest (as you have done) and a small arc reactor in the belt buckle.

Also, perhaps, hinting at the open mouth of the bat cowl with shape on the iron man helmet.

Does that make sense?

How bout putting the bat signal (just like the one on the pics background) as its unibeam?... just a thought...:)

cheers!

Cool, thanks :)

Ok I added different cape holders and "ears nubs" for lack of a better word as i thought they looked sort of cool. Makes the bat ears for of act as ariels if you like. I also fixed the bat symbol I did a bit. and found a nice way to add the gold back in so that the belt wasn't as much of a focus.

I left the metal, aside from the belt, black and silver a sI just feel it is more Batman. I know it is a mix of Batman and Ironman but as the suit is largely untouched I figured the Ironman element was well represented. That said, it's not my project, so this is just my interpretation.

I really dig it, brother! The only thing I would tweak are the ear nubs. I like the concept, just if they flowed more into the ears. Right now, they just look stuck on (Though, at least you have an argument for their intent). Maybe make the ears more Iron Man-like and add them in that way, for that added detail. Really like the revised bat symbol/A.R. piece and the gold expansion across the suit and pulling back on the belt helped a lot! So, now my eye has turned back to the gaunts and I wonder if there is a way to shape them a bit more to tie back into the suit, rather than looking like they're just pulled over it? Maybe incorporate more bat weapons/computer (Or is that too Predator?) into them? Just throwing out there...

Yeah the ear nubs were a bit tough as I'll admit I am not the best with angles sometimes. Certainly not when I take existing pieces from the suit and try to reform them. But I can have another go there for sure. Was interested in removing the current ears and trying from scratch there.

Now, when you say gaunts, do you mean the Batman fins on the gloves? Some of the costume terminology I don't actually know being fairly new to this. If so I have an idea or two on them, might take a bit but I'll see what I can do. If not, please let me know what you really meant.

Glad you're liking it though :)

Gauntlets, in this case, are the extended cuff of the glove. Keep the spikes; I was more worried that the cuffs didn't really blend into the rest of the arm and looked like an afterthought. However, upon review of the Mark III, I withdraw that comment, lol...
