I've recently seen these at local Target & K-Mart. Currently you can get the Vader ANH model, Obi-Wan ROTS, and Anakin ROTS. They are much closer to the a real Graflex/MPP they are based upon (you also see the Obi-Wan saber here), than the older 1996 POTF saber toys that have been re-issued. Possibly mod into a decent costume saber?

Does anyone here think these would make a good base for a trooping conversion? I'm eyeballing that Vader...

They look much bigger than the actual prop size to me.

A side by side would be interesting.

I don't know if those are the ones I've seen but I saw a Vader at Walmart. It was much smaller a round than the old ones. I'd say very close to accurate in that respect but they are also looked much shorter than the real deal. I'd like a side by side as well.

I thought the MR Vader ANH was pretty close in size.

The second MR FX Vader was pretty close to a real MPP, the first one was bigger.

But these are the toy Hasbro sabers, which have always been vastly oversized when compared to the real props. Great toy, I'm sure, but let's not kid ourselves that it is accurate in size or detail to the actual prop.

I think I mentioned these a bit ago when Hasbro announced the FX sabers with removeable blades. They are definitely smaller than the electronic sabers of old. Too small in fact. The length may be close but the diameter is a bit shy at about 1 1/4".

For trooping the Vader or Anakin could be passable belt hangers with some work. The Obi ROTS is a lost cause, while the pic on the other saber's boxes looks great, the actual product just stinks. Most of the saber is in the wrong proportions. Even worse than the last one, which was only slightly oversized from the forward grip to the pommel (neck/windvane and emitter were grossly oversized). Honestly, it would almost be easier to build one hardware style rather than rebuild one of these, unless you plan on using the electronics.

Also, a Yoda is available which is oversized as well, but not like the old one!
