New FX Lightsabers with REMOVABLE BLADES

I have the EpIV Vader saber in my collection and it is probably the most accurate FX saber hasbro has to offer. I dont have any of the Master replicas non-fx hilts to compare, but I have seen pics comparing the new vader IV (with removable blade) with the master replica hilts and the new vader is almost similar in thickness (it is slightly thicker than the non-fx hilts, but the difference is so slight that you will need to look at them side by side carefully and with calipers in order to detect any difference). Hasbro has really slimmed them down.

Here is a pic comparing the vader to a rotj Luke hero.

Got my Luke ANH with removable blade this past week and love it. Not the most accurate, but pretty darn close. As far as I know, the hilt is the same as the one MR put out in 2007 (never had one, but it sure looks like it). Some of the inaccuracies I can see are with the shoulders around the buttons being separate pieces, and the 'bunny ears' being separate from the bulb clamp. But I can put those differences aside.

Love the soundboard. It is differrent than my Vader RB, and I think its different than the fixed blade versions of this saber. It actually uses the sounds from the original movie, so even the power up/down animations of the leds are a little different from the others. That was one thing I was disappointed in with the Vader removable blade. Its sound effects are very prequel-sounding.

Nice. At one point I had a Parks Graflex and the fixed blade Luke ANH. The hilts were darn near identicle in length and width. The biggest detractor was like you said the area around the bottom eye piece being seperate. I have no clue why they did that. At least it's a lot more accuarte than the old Luke ESB version! That thing was a monster.

Which is another thing. It was way oversized, but the details were all accurate on it. Now they got the size right for ANH, but the details aren't quite right (cheapened up, perhaps). Still, I'm happy with it.

I may look into a parks graflex in the future. I know my brother is itching for a replica of the ROTJ lightsaber, either electronic or just a hilt. Seems like parks has one of the most accurate electronic ones and the price isn't too bad.

I bought a Kit Fisto FX Lightsaber with removable blade and it is very nice. I was shocked at how well I liked it.

Here are a few pics

Digging the Fisto one. If they don't make a more accurate Luke ROTJ one (with the neck not being so fat -- parks was able to do it...), I'll probably pick up a Fisto.

And I second the Obi TPM. That's my favorite prequel saber, yet all I have is the Rubies toy costume one from 1999. Would love to get a removable blade fx someday.

I just may have to pick up the Luke ANH after the holidays.

I hope they re-release the Obi TPM. It was one of the most requested sabers ever and it only had a short run. Again, don't know what Hasbro was thinking when they pulled the plug on it. I had a converted Hasbro TPM for a while and loved it. Not 100% accurate of course but better than nothing.

The only other option for an easy Obi TPM is the newly released Guardian by Ultrasabers. Again, not accurate but it looks pretty darn good. They took some liberties with the design to avoid any Imperial entanglements, LOL.

The Guardian

This is the Hasbro Obi I had. It had an UltraSound V2.5 soundboard and a P4 LED.

So they actually stopped producing the Obi TPM? That is such a shame. It was a beautiful piece. It did, however, come out at the same time as the first removable blade fxs.

Wow that looks real nice! I wish they carried them in Canada!

Where abouts in Canada are you? I was just visiting near Edmonton, Alberta this last October and a shop in the West Edmonton Mall had all of the new Hasbro FX sabers displayed for sale. I got to play with the Kit Fisto saber. My wife thought I was crazy and quickly put a stop to that. :behave

That's what online ordering is for! Have it shipped to your door! ;)

My Kit Fisto saber arrived a few days ago & I LOVE IT!!! After I find the time to remove all the stickers & clean it up, I'll take pics comparing it to my fan-made Kit Fisto. Quite a bit of differences in the detailing. Can't wait to have a convention I can go to, so I can break out the old Jedi costume & snap this into my Covertech belt clip! :D

I have the 2005 anakin master replica and I saw a video on you tube that shows how you can remove the blade by unscrewing a retention screw. For some reason, no matter how hard I try, the screw(which is the top button) won't budge. Anybody got any ideas?

If I had to guess (because I do not know exactly what video you saw), the video is showing the latest version of the Anakin FX Lightsaber (Hasbro took it over from eFx a few years back). If you bought yours in 2005, then that is the first version of that lightsaber and the blade is not made to be removed.

EDIT: Whoops, It was Master Replicas (MR) who turned the FX lightsabers over to Hasbro, not eFx.

Remove the blade*

Correction... MR not Efx.

I think I recall someone, I think Steve D. who was involved with MR, said that they wanted to make a the blades removable but LFL was against it because they worried about blades flying off and hurting people. So I think they are in their pretty good. Now I know people in the past have converted them to removable blades but I think it was a major rework and upgrade of most of the inside components. I am not really the best person to answer though.
