New FX Lightsabers with REMOVABLE BLADES

I was waiting for Luke's to come out, so that's awesome. I only have an MR Vader, so a Luke will look great next to it. Although now I'm tempted to get one of the Vader's with removable blade now... :confused

I've had the Anakin to tide me over, but when I get this one I am going to start using the anakin for dueling.

Sweet! Just ordered one. I saw that they would be available around July 11th, but I just checked and it said in stock.

I actually purchased a MR FX anakin EP 3 lightsaber and figured out a way to make the LED blade removable and re-attachable easily. It has some sort of a plug in it that does not require you to re-wire it at all :)

Only some of the Anakin EPIII hilts had the DIN plugs that you are talking about. I've taken 3 anakin EPIII hilts apart as well as 3 Darth Vader EP V's and only 1 anakin 1 vader had the DIN plug. the rest had to be re-wired to feature a removable blade.

Does anyone know if and/or when they might be coming out with another wave of removable blade fx lightsabers? I'm dying to get some! When's the next event where they might be announcing new products such as these?

Hasbro's New 2011 Force FX Lightsabers with Removable Blades!

Apologies if there's already a topic about this... I did a search on "force fx lightsaber" and also on "force fx saber" and couldn't find anything within the last several months....

I just got a new catalog from ThinkGeek.Com and saw the newest wave of Hasbro's Force FX Lightsabers with Removable Blades, and was quite surprised by what I saw...

Kit Fisto? KIT FISTO?!? :eek

I have been in LOVE with that saber hilt design ever since the first time I saw it, in a photo of Samuel L. Jackson as Mace Windu from The Phantom Menace! :love

Funny story, true story... I own exactly 3 lightsaber props... the very first Force FX Lightsaber ever offered by Master Replicas (Anakin's saber from Episode II), a genuine Heiland flash gun that was converted into a Vader-ish lightsaber, and a fan-made machined aluminum replica of Kit Fisto's saber hilt that I picked up on eBay years ago & have actually worn with my Jedi costume!

Since that hilt was made, lots more info has become available about its design and all the details present in it. My fan-made hilt is inaccurate in some ways, I know that.

Now check out Hasbro's with the blade removed:

So, more accurate than the one I own (after the stickers/labels are removed, natch! ;)) Maybe not 100% accurate to the original hero prop created for Episode I (there may be some detail missing on the emitter rings, based on a couple images I've seen) but certainly much more accurate than the one I already own. It's got a removable, light-up LED blade and sound FX, and it's only $100 (on ThinkGeek.Com, plus their catalogs often have a coupon code for $10 off a purchase of $50 or more!) SOLD! :cool:thumbsup

Obviously, some models are better than others. The "flash gun" sabers (Luke's, Vader's, Anakin's) and most of the Prequel Trilogy sabers lend themselves better to accurate replicas here than the Original Trilogy Obi-Wan and Luke ROTJ sabers do.

Anyone else think these are a good deal?

Also, who do we have to kill... err, I mean, CONTACT at Hasbro to convince them to re-issue the Force FX Obi-Wan (The Phantom Menace) Lightsaber with a removable blade? There's high demand for that saber model, I've been wanting a great replica of it since 1999, but have never been able to afford one, and yet, Hasbro has canceled the Force FX version of it! This has led to it being completely sold out everywhere, except from the scalpers that have a few on-hand, naturally. :angry:thumbsdown

And, speaking of removing the stickers... has anyone here got any recommendations for the easiest way to get all of those goofy things off of the Force FX Lightsaber without any damage/discoloration/leftover residue? :confused

Do these suffer from giant hilt-itis? I saw a video on YouTube with some kid reviewing an Anakin and the hilt looked MASSIVE. Either that, or the kid was really small.

(When I say kid, I mean, late teens, early 20's. I'm old, LOL).

I know there have to be some concessions made for electronics and the MR's have always been a little hefty when it comes to hilt circumfrence but I wonder if these are any bigger.

If not, then when and if they make a removable blade TPM Obi, I'm all over it.

Re: Hasbro's New 2011 Force FX Lightsabers with Removable Blades!

That's a very good question. I've heard that newer versions of the "flash gun" sabers are much more accurate than the original versions. On my Episode II Anakin, I think it's a bit bigger than the actual prop, which was rather svelte, by my understanding.

At the moment, all I personally care about is the accuracy of the Kit Fisto saber, in regards to dimensions. For the Obi-Wan TPM, nothing beats the later runs of the Larbel version with an EL blade installed, after he got all the details right. But then MR had to go and put him out of business, and I can't afford the prices they go for on the aftermarket. :unsure

Re: Hasbro's New 2011 Force FX Lightsabers with Removable Blades!

The Hasbro episode 1&2 force fx is one of the most accurate hilts in terms of diameter.

I personally would like to see an episode 3 vader with removable blade. Not likely they'll do it unfortunately.

Re: Hasbro's New 2011 Force FX Lightsabers with Removable Blades!

Those have been out for about 4 or 5 months now. I got the Kit Fisto about that time from redfordfilms.com It is very nice I made a report about it in another Hasbro FX thread a while back.

Like the Luke, it comes with a plug you insert inside the emitter to give the accurate look
of the saber when off. It also comes with a covertec like clip. Not an exact replica of the clip (I guess copyright issues but it is still very nice.

I do not have another Kit replica to compare it too but I do not notice any type of oversize type issues.

Thanks for the info. Can you give me any tips for removing the stickers? Those things are ugly! I understand why they put them on there, I just want 'em off when I buy mine!

Also, can you post a link to that other FX thread? I searched, but didn't find it.

I just peeled them off and used a bit of rubbing alcohol and a q-tip to remove the residue.

Re: Hasbro's New 2011 Force FX Lightsabers with Removable Blades!

I love these sabers! I was holding off on getting a Force FX because of the fixed blade. Then I got worried when Hasbro took over the production from Master Replicas. I remember them showing off the removable blade ones at either SDCC or NYTF back in 2010, and my worries went away.

I have the Vader one now, and it is absolutely spectacular. The details are spot on, and it comes with a fake emitter to cover where the blade goes in. Based on images of the actual prop, and replicas available, the emitter is fairly accurate, but is a little flatter than it should be. The hilt is not oversized--from what I've seen, it is pretty spot-on to MR's Signature Edition replica.

I just ordered Luke's ANH removable blade from Brians Toys. Looking forward to that.

If I do get a third, I'm thinking of getting Kit's too. Gotta have a green one in my collection!

The current 2011 wave is readily available, and can be had as low as $90 each if you know what you're doing! ;)

As for any new additions for 2012, I haven't heard anything yet. :unsure

Re: Hasbro's New 2011 Force FX Lightsabers with Removable Blades!

Fx removable blade sabers I would like to see are:

-Vader (ep.3)
-Vader (ep.6)
-Obi (ep 1 or 2)
-Quigon
-Palpatine (yeah, I know it's ugly, but I like it for some reason)

Basically what was said above but after you scrape the top layer of the sticker off, I used Goo Gone to remove the rest.

Here is the thread I was refering to:
