New Finemolds

Just heard this on Hobby link Japan's frontpage-

"Almost There...
...and almost here. Fine Molds has just announced that this summer, a 1/72 Y-Wing will join their fleet of superb "Star Wars" starcraft kits. Stay tuned for photos of the prototype, coming later today."

That's cool... now I just have to get the X-Wing as well... oh... and the expensive Falcon that I will never get assembled anyway... hmm...

It's just too bad they make these so damn small. 1/72 scale is just not impressive no matter how much detail they pack in.

But they match the military vehicles and planes, which are also in 1:72 scale... so you get them to scale with human based tech... and that's a plus, imo. They are very pricey for their scale, imo... but not all have room for 1:35 scale or larger, so that's why the 1:72 scale is preferable, imo.

1/72 does mean that they can do larger ships in the future and they can all be the same size. Imperial shuttle or sith infiltrator anyone? :)

I for one am happy they chose 1:72 scale and kept them all in that scale instead of doing larger not-to-scale ships as AMT & ERTL did.

Also... if you want larger... there are always the MR line.

I hope somebody does the imperial shuttle someday. I think that is the coolest imperial ship and nobody has tackled it except for mpc. We need a nice replica in a larger size. Man, wouldn't it be nice if we had one with light up engines?

There are a lot of lighting kits available for the finemolds already so if they get around to making the shuttle then there will probably be one available.

1:72 Gives so much more options. The Tantive IV is even possible, although it would be about 2.1m (7ft).

I think the AMT/ERTL shuttle was about 1/72. Anyone care to chip in with measurements? It was pretty accurate from what I remember.

Can't wait till there's enough kits available to make a Hoth hanger display. Roll on snowspeeders...
