I'm surprised I didn't see a thread about this already:

Awesome old Lucasfilm video introducing the Boba Fett character for the first time. Ben Burtt shows off various features of the original white Fett costume. There were a few things I had never seen before like the functional light is his right gauntlet and a different style flamethrower on the left (supposedly functional, but not demonstrated).
ESB assistant film editor Duwayne Dunham plays Fett in the video and I would guess he's also in there for several of the old pictures we're already familiar with.

I hope someone at LucasFilm wises up and convinces Lucas to at least put the ORIGINAL first appearance of Boba Fett as an extra on a future disc release of the Original Trilogy.

As horrible as The Star Wars Holiday Special generally was, the Boba Fett cartoon introduction was decent and is the very first appearance of the character.

The footage still exists in an LFL film vault. Heck, they even went so far as to allow Gentle Giant to release a variant of the animated Boba Fett maquette in his first appearance colors! (Be glad the armor in The Empire Strikes Back is green! :lol )

P.S. -- I did see the Star Wars special on its first and only airing in 1978 when I was a wee Star Wars fan. I didn't see it again until about 20 years later when I downloaded a Real Media video file of the complete special in addition to finding a mostly intact MPEG copy of the Fett introductory animation.

The Fett footage is by far the best part of the special. I'll gladly burn the rest of it including Mark Hamill's mascara-ed cameo for LFL! :lol

It's that bad! :eek

So the Star Wars Beach Towel is now canon for Fett's cape??!! :lol:lol

LOVE that video!! Apparently, it was shot at Lucas' HOUSE, according to Burt.

Is ANY of that suit present in ESB??!!

It's amazing the amount of detail and functionality that went into the suit, even in the early stages.

Great vid, thanks for the link!

Very cool video, I like how they even added exhaust to the jett pack for the prototype costume, very detailed!!!
