New Elstree Studio documentary with discarded Graflex.

So I can’t read through the whole thread but was it decided this was a hero prop or just an alternate/stunt? And if I ever want a very accurate ANH graflex does it NEED two rivets on The D ring and four on the sides?

It's my understanding there's no indication the Elstree Graflex was ever used in a way the public would see.

Also, skeptical as I was, evidence shows the ANH Hero was used for the Toe Pic photo session.

The four side rivets are seen in a BTS photo from overlooking Mos Eisley. I posted a shot from ANH in 4K on Disney+ that I believe confirms two rivets for the D-ring on the bottom of the screen used prop.

I think most of us assume the Elstree Graflex was an attempt at building a bladed stunt before they went with the scratch-made one used in the film. But as a stunt version it obviously copied a lot of the details of the hero.

It doesn't look to be used on-screen at all. The double rivet matches the hero so it seems.

I wish they would release 'Empire of Dreams' in 4K. Watch from time 54:40-55:00, I bet we would be able to read the bottom of the Grflex stamp in 4K.

I don't know if it's 4K like the rest of the films, but "EOD" IS available on DisneyPlus and it's really crisp. That's how the two rivets on the end of the saber were confirmed, but still nowhere clear enough to read the stamping.

I watched the 'Skywalker Legacy' documentary on TROS Blu-ray and saw behind-the-scenes footage from ANH I've never seen before and never seen in any other special or documentary. I know there is a metric ton of footage we've never seen that would probably answer every questions we still have about all 3 of the ANH lightsabers.

I wish someone could get access to go over all that behind-the-scenes footage and be able to share clips that would be of benefit to us.

Slapping modern grips on that artifact defies all logic.

I think I must be in the minority of those that just don’t care about the stamping on the bottom of the 3 cell battery tube hilts. It just isn’t an itch for me. Besides, even if the stamping is ever discerned, it doesn’t mean it’s a “matched set” of the top to the 3 cell bottom....these parts seemed to be swapped around throughout filming.

Of course, I suppose for the ultimate recreation of the saber hilt in that scene, I can understand the obsessive need to know.

When its taken this long to get a clear enough picture of the bottom to determine one rivet or two, Im not gonna hold my breath on getting a definitive stamping orientation. I think thats something thats lost to history. I'd be glad to be proven wrong though.

There was absolutely amazing raw unprocessed behind the scenes of Emperor's arrival in ROTJ. Vader was so up close and clear that the Mpp caught the light and was quite clear! I need to go back and look at it again. That was the best back shot I have seen of Vader. I have been looking for that clear shot for a WHILE.

I've noticed the hem line of his cape is crooked as hell.

We know the chronicles photos of the hero Kenobi was taken in color thanks to the xmas wrapping paper..

Yeah, saying that he "hopes to screen match it someday" is quite baffling. Seems like he really hasn't done his homework on many of the pieces that he owns. Also saying that the wooden master and the casting are "early versions" of the Obi-Wan saber is misinformed as well. And simply saying that the macrobinoculars are from ESB and "are like the ones that Luke and Han have" and are "iconic" and then stating "not much more to say about that." WTF?! Does he even *know* what the prop is made from? If I owned pieces like that I'd make sure that I knew *every last detail* about them. But maybe that's just me.
