That chart is neat but confuses me just as much as what is happening in the show. But I love it all! Can't wait for tonight's episode!

I agree completely. I really liked Matt Smith in the episode "The Lodger" and how Craig reacted to the Doctor. Hopefully tonight will be just as brilliant when they are reunited!

I don't think I've ever said this before.
I was completely underwhelmed by 'Closing Time'. From the pointless story, to the 'incidental' inclusion of Amy & Rory, to the outright spoileryness(New word. Like it?) of the Impossible Astronaut reveal. Bleh.
Stormageddon was the best part of the episode.

It was like tagging on the Cybermen for the season just as a contractual requirement. Meh. The Stormageddon stuff was a bit funny, but was used too much. While I think being able to take down Cybermen with gold dust was a little silly, taking them out with love was too much.
Not all that upset honestly to hear we won't get any Doctor Who next year. Not if this is what we'll get. I'll go back and rewatch Tennant.
While I agree that this ep certainly has its flaws (Cybermen vs crying baby and love...realy?), it was a fun little romp that did not take itself too seriously. Which is more than i can say for most of the rest of this seaon. All in all, a refreshing if not corny lead in to the finale.
I enjoyed it, as I liked the interaction between the Doctor and Craig, and how the Doctor tries to "fit in" on earth. Loved the name tag, too. Anyone done that prop yet? 
But I do agree, adding the Cybermen was unnecessary, and the love thing was a tad silly. The writers could have easily used a different/new alien species in their place.
And, at least we know where the Doctor gets the stationery for the invitations.

Didn't mind the latest episode, the disposal of the Cybermen was a little rushed, and subsequently came across as silly.
With regards to the next episode, I will be disappointed if it really is River that shoots the doctor, seeing as how everybody guessed it would be at the beginning of the season. With regards to it being the ganger Doctor, I recently rewatched the episode he was in and we clearly see him dissolve when he sonics himself. Unless he reconsitutes himself somehow......
On a side note, watching tonights episode with my mother, (shaddup) and when the Doctor leans against the Tardis before leaving and my Mum started to comment on something. Knowing how important the scene was I raised a finger and went "Shhhh!". She stopped talking instantly and I quietly giggled to myself till the show was over. I then apologized for being rude, (I don't usually shhh people and did it out of reflex) and she had no memory of it even happening. There might be something to this new trick I've discovered.......

As much as last night's ep was light weight bordering on silly in parts it did have it's moments. For me Smith's Doctor hadn't earned his place in the lineage until the scene where it is just him and Stormy last night and he starts out talking to the kid but really is ordering his own thoughts. You watch Smith go from playing his Doctor to being The Doctor. I felt the age, the exhaustion and errosion of his soul and the feeling that maybe it all coming to an end is over due. In that moment...for me, at least, I was watching The Doctor and not just Matt Smith playing a version of him.
As soon as I saw the secret ingredient was love I thought "ha...the RPF is going to hate this". I thought it was fun and touching.

Thanks! The more I think about it the more it seems like all the modern Doctors have an element of the 5th Doctor in them: young exterior masking an ancient and tiring interior...or is that just the quintecential British Spirit personified?

It is standard operating procedure here at the RPF to hate 75% of everything and loathe the other 25%...yet still covet all the toys they get to play with. It's in the by-laws you know.

Doctor Who is now basically Sheldon Cooper on caffeine.
I will have to give it the obligitory second viewing, but so far this is my least favorate episode of series 6. It had a few good parts but I really felt distracted through the whole episode.

I think Matt Smith has been excellent, loved the stand alones, the plot arc is fascinating. Disliked Closing Time though. There were better people to revisit )(Sally Sparrow, where are you?) and loving the cybermen to death? Really ? gag. The baby stuff was fleetingly amusing, and the lighter tone episodes are needed, but not in the next to last ep. Poor planning. It's like having a slapstick episode before the final Vorlo / Shadow showdown, or stupid teddy bears before the Death Star attack....oh.

I don't have that much of a problem with love killing the Cybermen. Back in Rise of the Cybermen the emotional inhibitor being deactivated was fatal to the Cybus Cybermen, so the precedent was set. I found Craig's love for his son overriding the assimilation and shorting the emotional inhibitors easier to swallow than love deactivating the bomb from Victory of the Daleks.
The use of the Cybermen was disappointing though, I was looking forward to them move in this episode and just such a let down.

The more I think about it the more I think this episode was a light hearted romp meant to maximize the blow coming next week. I think they might be going for Torchwood: Children of Earth grade harsh.

The only way they could really achieve that though, wold be to really kill off ol' Thete, and I just don't see it happening...ever really.
