New Disney movie Cruella

We watched Cruella this weekend - it was ok. Nothing to write home about.

Yes, it’s another “here’s the back story of a villain but maybe they aren’t really a villain…” kinda stories.

It was entertaining. Nice tie-in to the 101 Dalmatians movie. Not worth the $30 premiere access fee, IMHO.

...Cruella has always just been one thing: a wealthy, albeit vain, chain-smoking sadist. That's all she's ever needed to be. There was never any room for a tragic backstory.

To be fair, the character only exists in a single story, for a single purpose. I think there's room to tell an origin story, I just don't see the point.
I'm sure we'll get a movie about Snow White's misunderstood step mother in the near future.
