New BMF coming

I will have it.
I like the size and the price.
At 60 bucks I may buy 2, one ANH and one TESB versions.
I can scratch a few parts and make this sucker at least pass for a decent kit.
It won't be accurate but I think I can get it close.

its supposed to hit retail stores in November?

Am I correct in the idea that this is modeled after the ESB modded 5 footer?

In all honesty, the biggest bummer for me is that it has the ESB landing gear.

Nice!!! Thanks for the photos guys! I see what you mean about the bottom, but hanging from the ceiling in a banking position should take care of it. The proportions look really good and I'm sure that for that money I won't be able to build anything close (I still remember the pain of building the tunnel for the BMF). With some scratched greeblies and a good weathering job it should make heads turn. Even that last photo from kokarri looks like the fastest hunk of junk to me!

Actually there are components of both. The cockpit is 5ft. all the way. The pieces that sit on top of the mandibles and connect them to the body are the 5footer too, but the rest looks like the 2footer from the ESB. The detail on the top rear, turret and jaw boxes all look ESB to me.

Great pics! Mine was originally due to arrive today (10/10), but do to a shipping delay (which they apologized for) it will now arrive on Wednesday.

What are the main details that people would like to see for this? Sidewalls, engine vents, radar dish and support, canons....?

Argos have it listed at £59.99 but its showing out of stock everywhere , so maybe its imminent in the UK? Is it made out of better plastic than the X-wing?

Nice video review. Question, Are the landing gear parts that snap into the lower hull or are they molded as part of the lower hull itself? It certainly looks like this was made with us in mind when this "toy" was designed!

After looking at the photos and watching the video this does have good potential. The cockpit is screaming to be opened up and whoever makes a cockpit set for this is going to be on a winner there. The mix of detailing between the 5ft and 32in versions is a compromise that people can live with however, the greatest inaccuracy is the landing gear boxes. They sit far too low into the hull and too far out from the centre however overall this is equally good for modellers as it is for kids. It offers enough room for the modeller to add/better the existing detailing as well as being very affordable (in the US that is). Looks like a must have "model" to me.

If you are referring to the big x-wing, it is the same type of plastic. It's very rubbery. I already cut out the cockpit windows on mine and finding it very difficult to sand. It kind of turns into this shredded pulp when you sand it.

Oh well. It is bad plastic , but im thinking sheet styrene glued with super glue all plastics glue to the didewalls then it will be easy to use normal polystyrene glue to add the detail parts.

Are you guys frakin kidding me? Oh how far we have come.

Years ago we only had a MPC model kit. Then there was a few scratch built MF's on the internet circa the late 90s. But people horded information and building a semi accurate MF was just a grail. Then MR makes its offering....$2,000 plus. I remember a run here for a basic 'shell only' based of of the MR for $800ish IIRC.

Between the Hasbro BMF and this little guy, a competent builder has 90% of the parts for $150 ($100 for BMF on Ebay and $50 for this one).

Rant over hahaha. I picked up the Hasbro BMF at a flea market for $45 2 weeks ago. I also picked up a Kenner MF cockpit. When I get the new MF, I will probably use it for detail parts as the cockpit tube looks too small. OR...I might skin over it to build up the correct thickness and transfer over to the Hasbro BMF. I am also eying the transmission parts next to the cockpit on the new MF. On the old BMF that part is consumed by the sheer girth of the cockpit.

Robiwan.....Yes please and some gear parts that a builder can add some brass tube.

Pretty damn amazing actually. With some details added and a better repaint, it would be one hell of a piece!

If you want the transmission halves for a BMF conversion there is a set of Porsche castings available (was available 2 years ago when I got my set).

I need to either buy one of these myself or get detailed measurements of certain areas, and then yes, we can have 3D parts made for this if you guys want.

Tell me what areas you need, I'll give you measurements. If you can make 3d parts, that's a hell of a lot easier then scratching them.
