So far from what I've seen in game play is exactly what a lot of you have said. It's an expansion more so then an evolution of the game. Asylum to City, you got free roaming, several new gadgets and although the side missions were on the side, they seemed to link well with the main story. Larger scale and so on.
City to Origins. Expansion, because although it is a different story with a little bit larger map, that's somewhat of how City did Harley's revenge, etc. A new location, new story, but same game play. I've enjoyed Origins and look forward to seeing how the story ends, but making a bigger map and a couple new toys doesn't mean the game has evolved like it did from Asylum to City. It simply means you have added more things or more space.
Now, what I hope Rockstead does in their sequel, if they are doing one, is true evolution like they did before. Origins tried to do it a little, bit but fell short with the use of the batwing and getting to go to the batcave. They only allow you to do a few little things in the cave and the batwing is just a point A to B. Evolution of the game would have been and would still be great to actually drive the Batmobile around this huge city. And not to just drive around, but using it for missions and the story. If you wanted to add gadgets this would be a great place to do it. The Batmobile needs to be used in certain ways to defeat robbery suspects from fleeing a bank or to get to a crime scene or save someone in time. I'm not a writer so I can only envision what I would like, but the use or that or even the batwing would have evolved things and made having a larger map more relevant and require not simply larger for the sake of. Good game, just hoped for a few more little things. Maybe with RS version.
That plus a lot more detective work, I'd say. I actually really enjoyed figuring out the side mission stuff in City, but even that could be seriously expanded.
