New At Dreads

Made my dread mold from Ooh Moo silicone. Do I need to skin with latex or just use foam. I have Smooth-on flex foamit 3.

All you need is the foam.  Having experimented with that foam quite a bit I can say that it's really too stiff to use for dreads.  It's a nice light weight foam, but doesn't have much flex.  If you're wanting to stay with the Smooth On stuff, the FF6 is about the best to use.  If you're willing to spend the money on a true self skinning foam, go with either the BJB or Kryolan foams.  Both very good foams that will produce a quality, more realistic dread.

Are there beads on every dread. I'm unable to tell by the movies
The beads on the movie dreads were part of the dread, they are not separate from the actual dread.   I have a friend who has resin copies out of the movie molds, and I know Seahunter sells foam dreads from the movie molds as well.  They all had the same number and placement of dread beads, but whether or not there were dreads without them I can't sat for sure.  I would assume they all did though.

Thanks Brian,
I'm casting my own and they are turning out ok. I just want mine to be different and unique. Thanks for the advice.
God Bless
