New Airsoft PR On Evike

With money sitting in my Paypal account, it would be a crime NOT to buy one for $245 shipped. For a free site, RPF costs me a lot of money :)

That is how we reel you in. Sure, come on by, take a look. Next thing you know your are addicted, doing anything you can to feed your need for props. The more you get the more you want.

It will never stop.

It will never be enough.

You will be destroyed.

But you will have a lot of really cool props.

Case in point. I owned three lightsabers. I thought that was ridiculous. They are just metal handles, way over priced, utterly absurd. It's not like they do anything. They just sit there. That was before RPF.

Now I am about to add #22. Yes, that is correct. 22 lightsabers. What the hell, who does that???? :facepalm :behave :facepalm

Run away. We are like the mob, once in there is no out.

I know, Evike hasn't put the thing in the box yet and I am already researching the mods, bookmarking the right threads and doing the math. $245 is just the start.

I am determined to have only a few outstanding props and not a large collection. We'll see.

HEY HEY!! Check it out!

I love this thing! So awesome!! 13lbs, mostly metal, working components, adjustable stock, digital counter, ect...TOTALLY worth it!

lol...thanks! I'm stoked! Now, how to safely remove these orange tips without breaking or marking up anything. Both are rings over the actual barrels. The top one is glued tight, the bottom one must be 'snapped' into place. However, I'm it appears to be actually be connected to the spring that pulls the front twist plate (where the battery goes) tight. I can spin the ring freely when its closed, but when I pull/open the battery compartment, it's got tension on it.

....hummmm....what to do...what to do....

Update. OK. so after reading through the booklet that came with the gun, I got out my trusty swiss army knife, used the flat end of one of the tools and gently worked it under the lower ring - the ring literally popped off - there was hardly any glue holding it in place. Came off clean too!

Now I'm working on the upper one.

Holy crap! That was SUPER EASY!!

Took the water to juuuust before boiling, held the gun upright with the tip in the water for....30 seconds, took it out, used a towel and VOILA - easily twisted right off (and again, came off clean)!! No need for pliers or any serious force.

So for anyone who's curious - this was a lot more intimidating than it actually was. I was really more worried about marking up my new PR but this was cake!

Now she looks legit!

Oh - and one last thing - so when I got this, it came with the 8.4v stick battery. Before ever using it I put it on the charger for 6 hours (per online recommendations from Evike). When I plugged it it, it worked perfectly. I know people say that it doesn't work...but I don't have any problems with it at all.

The shipping weight on the package was listed at 13lbs. I had my doubts, but once I got the magazine in, the stick battery installed, it's pretty substantial weight which goes a long way to it not feeling like a cheap attempt at a replica.

I love this thing!!!

DO let the stick battery charge for 5-6 hours before even attempting to use it. Mine works fine, but many people have complained and I wonder if they haven't charged the battery long enough.

Oh! And you'll need a 9v battery for the counter to work (there's a nice little on/off switch inside the magazine bay to turn it on and off).

Nice to know that the orange tips come off easily. Looks great! Mine is scheduled to be here on Monday, but I am hoping it shows up on Friday.

The release of those orange rings was a plesant suprise. Just be gentle so that you don't scratch the bottom barrel. I used the equivilent of a flat edge screw driver on my Swiss Army knife and just gently worked it under the rim and the bottom ring just popped right off (and was not connected to anything other than the outside of the barrel).

I highly suggest doing what I did with the upper barrel (as posted on the previous page) Seriously, once I saw condensation forming on the dark part, I pulled it out of the water (not more than 30 seconds), flipped it over, used a kitchen towel and just twisted. The heat allowed for the piece to come off cleanly and didn't leave any glue residue on the barrel.

One thing to note - neither the barrel nor the orange tips are threaded, so which ever way is easiest for you to twist it to break it free is fine and won't make any difference.

One more thing - depending on where you live, you may want to keep the rings so that if you decide to take your PR out in public, the cops as well as the general populous won't get crazy and shoot YOU thinking it's real!!!

LOL!!

These are really incredible pieces for the money. A terrible time for me to be unemployed. :wacko

Great to see the membership here getting them.

I still need to pick up the correct battery. Is that $25 dollar battery on evoke the only option that fits?
