New Airsoft PR On Evike

It's never good to leave a spring compressed for a long time. I also doubt they are using a real high quality spring to start with. Continually leaving it wound may lesson the overall pressure over time, but no short term side effects. You should be good, just shoot it and let it cycle every once in a while.

Fot the kit, you are looking for the G&P Pulse Rifle kit. Very hard to find in stock. Check with the popular airsoft dealers, UNCompany, Dentrinity, airsoftwar4, Redwolf, etc.

Coming from real firearms, there is no negative effect from leaving a spring compressed over a long period of time. It is actually use, compression and extension that causes a spring to wear out. Just look at magazine springs, recoil springs, heck, even the springs to a retractable pen can all be compressed for years at a time.

Maybe if it was made from garbage metal or experienced some weird heating issue or excessive build up of grime. But not in normal display or use environment.

Hi Noble. That came out really well, a vast improvement on the original higher back end.

How did you graft it on? fibreglass from the inside perhaps, then fill, sand and paint? Also, what solution did you find to the stock locking issue?

Hey guys, I'm about to pull the trigger on one of these, but I haven't been able to get any answer to my question about removing the orange tips that come on the barrels. The one review that I saw online a guy showed that they were just glued on but it also looked like he damaged the barrel getting them off.

Any experience that you guys can share would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey guys, I finally get to join the ranks here - I ordered mine today! Got 20% off and with shipping included bought it for $240!!

There goes my X-Mas cash!! LOL!!

Dave, in those pics it looks like the barrels are just painted. Some airsoft dealers add caps, paint the barrels, or supply replacement barrel tips in the box. But those look to be just painted. When the gun arrives you should be able to tell if they are glued on caps or painted ends.

I think the pics vary a little from the actual product, hopefully they're just caps. Either way, now I'm super excited to get it! I've hated you guys for so long for owning them!! LOL!!!

What battery did you get with it? Ideally you'll want the 9.6v. A lot have complained that the standard 8.4v just wasn't strong enough to cycle it.

I just got whatever comes with it. It's going to be a prop/display piece for me, so as long as the battery that comes with it works well enough to run down the counter, I'll be happy with that. I seriously doubt it'll see real airsoft action though.

...I just checked, yeah, it looks like it's coming with the 8.4v battery. So we'll see! Thanks for the tip! That's good to know!

*For anyone seriously considering this for a buy, this is a really well done review. Just jump ahead to the 2m 15sec marker and you'll see exactly what comes from Evike! This sold me on the package.

I got mine on the last sale and I love it. Mine had caps. A twist of some pliers will pop them off.

You need a 9volt battery for the counter by the by. Just toss the battery that comes with it or upgrade. If the battery won't shoot the gun it won't count down.

EDIT* Also that vid is wrong. The superstition was to load it to 95 rounds to prevent jamming. And now I'm sad I know that.

lol...well no review is perfect, but hey, it's pretty well done otherwise!!

I suppose if they had to cut costs on one area, I'd prefer it to be the battery more than cutting corners on the construction.

Thanks for the info about how you got your orange tips off the barrels.

Question - is there a retail place that sells those stick batteries or do they need to be ordered?

If you go to a hobbyshop that has RC cars they will have the batteries you need. You wont find them in the long stick though, they will be side by side sticks. You can do some surgery, buy single cells and build your own, or the shop may build you one for a small fee. It may be easier to order a 9.6v though.

Cool. Thanks for the info! Much appreciated! (y)thumbsup

Actually Dave I have owned two, but none currently. I had the old G&P kit on a TM Thompson and sold it years ago. Then I built a new PR using a CyberGun Thompson as the base and using resin shrouds and GL by Matsu and aluminum parts from Nicksdad. The electronics were by ReplicantFX who are no longer in business sadly. The pic in my avatar is the second PR I built and that was also sold. Now, I want another!

Here is my original thread, smiles and tears in the same thread!

Well for the price, get this one while you can get the 20% off of the sale price with the EVIKEXMAS coupon code!!

I could never sell anything that I built. I get too attached to my projects. LOL!!

For those who own this particular one, has anyone had any luck with the easy removal of the "Made in China" lettering? I'm really hoping that's something that could be gently rubbed off if there's no coating over it or it's not etched into the bracket.

That's gotta go!!! LOL!!

On a side note, I couldn't believe last night how much notification I've received from both Evike and UPS regarding my order and it's processing status - very impressive!

Scheduled for delivery on 1/2/13!! LOL!
