Never Ending Story The Book

Original Prop is Indeed on Sale on eBay.com

One of the forum members, Spirit57 previously discussed possibly selling the original screen prop of the Neverending Story book. FYI, it is currently listed on eBay.com for a whopping $75,000. Nevertheless, in the spirit of helping make this project come alive, perhaps he'd be willing to extensively photograph and measure the original prop prior to its sale?

I would love to see this thread as alive as it was a couple years ago... Perhaps this sale is the motivation necessary to make it happen.

Maybe someone could digitally create the corner pieces to get 3-D printed by Shapeways? Then we could take it from there?? Hint hint :lol

For those looking to make their own book, I came across these and ordered one...

I just got one of these in the mail... It is great.
Solid metal and the size needed for the book.

Auryn

So...... Anyone think they can make a file for 3-D printing the cover ornaments/corners?

Maybe something to print through Shapeways??

That would be VERY helpful :lol

I agree that leather would be ideal for the book cover.

Anyway I drew up a guide to sculpt the corner pieces:

Again, this is just a guide, the depths and thickness will come when it gets sculpted.
I scaled it to the Auryn (approx. 3" circumference) and it's about 3.25" on the two sides and approx. 4.5" on the longest side.
With these sizes, I drew it up and the scale of the book would probably be around 11" x 14".
Don't know if I'm right, but looks good to me.

I can do it, but it'd be frakkin expensive through Shapeways. I'd also need some good shots at different angles so I can figure out depth, etc.

Nice work! I didn't almost the same thing for my every book in my home-library. Great job! Didn't expect to see it on this website :D

I'm sorry I didn't notice the above request regarding what book I used as my dummy prop for the Never Ending Story book that I made some time ago (see above). As someone else asked me about this, I thought I'd post it here also.

FYI: I used a hard-bound book called 'Personology' by Gary Schneider. It's a large-sized, innocuous but fun astrology book that you can find easily and very cheaply on eBay or book sites.

This same author also has a book called Birthdays, which is also large and I think would work well in book replica projects.

That link to the auction was awesome. Brought back lots of memories from the 80's. Such a great movie that i can always watch again and again.

Sorry if I resume this thread but I'm trying to make this prop, at the moment I'm making the inner page but I don't know the size of this book is a B5?A4? thanks
