Just wondering if I am the only RPFer who hasn't been to a con and really have no intention of going to one, well at least not in the near future.

turn in my card (or did I ever get issued one?)

I'd have to turn in mine as well, because the South doesn't have one I've been able to go to as of yet.

I would LOVE to go to Cali or FL or wherever but who has the money? I'm with you on this one.

Besides, if Larry Young isn't at the Con, WHATS THE POINT OF GOING?????

The only "big" (i.e., once a year) con I've been to is Monsterpalooza, and last year was my first time. I've never been to SDCC, Chiller Theater, or Wonderfest, and probably never will. I wanted to go to SDCC years ago before it got to be such a monstrosity, but it was always one of those "one of these days" trips; now they'd have to pay me to go because I hate crowds.

Haven't been to one in many years. They are not what once were, there was a time when they were something to see. With the internet that changed everything.

Places like the RPF is not unlike a Con, you get to see amazing things guys produce. Hear all of the stuff that's going on, even buy things from the best dealers room in the world(that's why I went to Cons in old days). Best of all you save on travel expenses, hotel rooms, meals, etc.

Of course there are things that will be missed. This stuff isn't as much of a novelty anymore, things one would learn at a Con go on here everyday. You don't get to meet people face to face. Or get to experience the zoo of characters that wander a Con.

I think most of us haven't been. If you don't live by one of the appealing ones, it's an extremely expensive proposition to attend...

I was just going to say "I'm going to a con tomorrow." :lol

I can't even say how many cons I've been to since my first: Fantacon '78 in Albany NY.

Never have been to one, doubt that I"ll ever go to one. And no, you can't take my RPF card... I just got it. lol.

Different times now a days

My first Con was in 1974 and I lost count how many I've been to or worked.

Defintely in the hundreds!

I've been to one. In NYC, many, many years ago. As noted by others, expense and crowds preclude me from wanting to go to another.

HOWEVER, if there's ever a Prop Party nearby, I'd do my best to get there to meet some of you guys!

The only con I have ever been to was the horror convention here. It was...very meh. Cleveland sucks for this kind of thing.

I live in Atlanta and haven't made it to Dragoncon...

I lived in Atlanta for 3 years and went to Dragoncon once in fall of '00, I think. It was ok. I had no idea what to expect, though, so it was a bit overwhelming.

I've been back in Philly (my home town) for 8 years now, and still have yet to go to...uh...whichever con they have here every year...

But hey, maybe this year's the year! :)

It's not that I don't like cons. They're ok. Sometimes you see some cool stuff. But I don't get EXCITED for cons and I always seem to have something else going on or find out about it at the last second.

I suppose I went to one con prior to ALL of that, back in '87 when there was a Beatles convention here in Philly. (I think it was called "20 Years Ago Today" or something? I dunno.) That was pretty cool. Mostly I remember guys who had way overpriced trading cards but wouldn't pay me for the ones I'd somehow managed to come across, and there was a super expensive boxed Corgi Yellow Submarine toy. I left with a Sgt. Pepper's album cover t-shirt. And my trading cards. Don't remember what happened to those...maybe I ended up selling them at the con for dirt cheap. That'd be rich. Some ******* ripping off a 9 year old kid.

Anyway, that's been my con experience.
