Nerf Vulcan canon - who's going to start modding this sucka?

It's $35- at Target with 50 darts, the tripod, ammo box and a shoulder strap. I've picked up three of them for family Christmas presents (nothing says I love you like a Vulcan canon!) -- am thinking a black paint job and some greeblies will make this into one heck of an impressive costume piece.

Terminator?
Aliens?
Clone Trooper special forces?


Am also looking forward to the annual ComiCon nerf gun wars in the Mezzanine level this year.

This gun looks better with a new paintjob, but it really isn't that great for actual nerfwars. The range and accuracy are pretty bad and the ammo belt jams frequently. That being said, I still totally bought one.

In my experience with Nerf, the bigger and more complicated the guns are, the less well they work.

For what it's worth, I bought mine from Hasbro and got it before they hit the store shelves. I've never had a jam or misfeed. Maybe I'm just lucky. I think it rocks! :thumbsup

Those things rock! Ever see one in action? The devastation they can bring on? I've seen these first hand in action, WOW!
As for that Nerf, I want one just so I can modify it. This DOES beg to be modified big time.

I like the idea of using a rechargeable RC car battery. Had thought about doing that myself, good to know it has the desired effects. Am going to look into doing the internal mods to this one like that ebay example.

Anybody here messed with the air restrictors or done any other operational mods? Can you buy replacement ammo belts? One guy on eBay sold one, advertising significantly increased range due to modifying air flow and removing barrels, but didn't say anything about accuracy.

The Replacement belts are $7-8 bucks. I've got two hooked together on my sons vulcan. 50 Rounds of devastation coming at his friends.:love

Haven't modded the air restrictors yet, but thats next.

Just did some looking. Found the 50 round belt mod, and the straw-in-the-dart mod, but nothing on the barrels/air restrictor. I'll have to scour youtube when I get home.

Wal-Mart had them in stock for $35. Target is out, according to the website. THe walmart ones were dented boxes.

heres mine with one of the small added as a grenade launcher, forgot to add the double belt that I did by taking the 2 it came with apart and screwing them toegther as one, enjoy, Chuck.
