Nerf Scout Trooper Blaster Repaint

The only offer I found was on ebay, they ask for over 50 Euros.
At the moment it's almost cheaper for me to order in the States and pay the extra shipping costs and taxes. But I refuse to pay almost 50€ when the thing is being sold abroad for under 20$!

Are you part of the 501st over there? Could always organize a group buy

That’s just insane..

Welcome to "Not Living in the United States Shipping Costs"

Out of curiousity, I checked what it would cost to eBay one to Canada - the answer is 32$ for the blaster and another 19$ for shipping. Of course, I can just go buy one in a local shop - for 24$ CAD, so not too far out of line from the USD price in the States - but there's lots of things I can't do that with, and then, well, it gets expensive. And I'm just next door without a pesky ocean in the way!

The US has really efficient, and thus really cheap, internal shipping, making a lot of things way more affordable in America than they are anywhere else. Though on balance, I'd rather have centralised health care. :D

Well there you go, take all that money your saving on health expenses and by your 50 euro Nerf gun.

LOL! He does have a point, we are gonna twist that arm of yours!

J's Canadien! Euros are even worse than USD! (It's Hovinski that's in Europe.)

I'm saving all that money for a new Prusa XL and some motors for R5-D4. :)

Well, at least I won't need a third mortgage to pay the doctor after. Unless I take an ambulance... those have user fees. But there's an Emerg in walking distance so I should be good. :p

No, I'm not. But I think this might just be temporary. The toy scene is sometimes strange, you can see this all the time with the Hasbro helmets. I remember you couldn't get Hasbro's Iron Man helmet some time ago. It just wasn't available anywhere. One could find a few shops who still offered one and the prices on Amazon, ebay, etc. went ridiculously high. I remember one shop wanted to have over 900$, another one 700! No idea if they actually found somebody who paid that price but that's what they asked for it. Then, suddenly, Hasbro delivered a huge load of freshly produced helmets, they were available everywhere again and suddenly the prices went back to the 120 bucks they were supposed to cost or even less! Other Black Series helmets had crazy ups and downs in prices as well.
I assume the Scout blasters are not available in Germany at the moment, for whatever reason but that can change. I will just wait and keep an eye out for future offers. Keep the hunter and gatherer juices flowing. Until then I will work on one of the half dozen projects I never seem to get finished so there won't be room for boredom. ;)

It's even more strange when one medium affects another. I remember Howard the Duck, the comic book, being a big hit when it was first released and soon issue #1 was going for $100 or more. Then that stupid movie came out, and at the next convention I attended they were literally handing everyone a copy of Howard the Duck #1 free as they walked through the door.

Yeah, it's a crazy nerd world with strange ups and downs. I gotta admit, I liked the movie back then. I had a huge teenage crush on Lea Thompson..

Are you going to do one with threads?

Turns out I have no idea how to do threads. I made them two different ways, starting from the same measurements, and my methods didn't line up and it got too confusing.

You guys are cool with just gluing it in place, right?

Anyway, here's one with no lens in the middle so whoever wants it can slice off the appropriate amount on the bottom to fit whatever glass they get.

And a slightly tweaked on w/ the lens (it's very minor, basically just a tiny dimensional change):

And the requested changes to the plunger replacement:
